Had my infected gb out yesterday, laproscopically and am really hurting today. To those who have been through it, how long did it take for you to go back to work. My work isn't very physical, and I can tone down any movement I usually do.

GB was removed on Monday-will I be able to go back next Monday?

What did the surgeon tell you? When I had mine out, it was 2 weeks before I could go back, and then still had to watch what I did for another 2. I am a nurse manager, so not as strenuous as a floor nurse, but it still has it's moments.

Also--Your work will probably not let you come back, until you are released from the Dr. to do so. He will be the one "driving the boat" so to speak. Most places require a Drs. release upon the 3rd missed day.

Hope you heal quickly. I was up and about around the 5th day. At least to do minimal things around the house, cook small meals etc. By the end of the first week a little more.

I scheduled mine for a Thursday so I would have the weekend to recover. I went back the following Monday. I was still sore but then again I had a 2 month old to take care of. Glad I had a desk job! Good Luck!

OP, I was only off work a week so I think you will be okay. Just remember you will feel tired for a couple of weeks afterwards. I would go home from work and just stay home. I was afraid to eat anything for a few weeks afterwards, for fear of setting off another attack. I kept my diet low fat. After a couple weeks of that I gradually went back to a regular diet and have had no problems since.

Good luck to you!:goodvibes

I was out a week too. I thought I would be back in a day or two...yeah, that was dumb!!!!! I was sore, not horrible pain, but was really worn out for that week. You'll feel better before you know it!

Hope you feel better soon.

I am scheduled to have my gallbladder our this coming Friday. I'm a little nervous.

Just had mine out in September.

The first two days, I was SORE!! But you'll feel improvement shortly after, so try not to worry. I had mine done on a Thursday, and was back to work on Monday. I probably should have waited until Tuesday, but I also have a 'desk job', so I just made sure I was as comfortable as possible all day.

You'll feel better soon!! :cutie:

I have a desk job and could have easily gone back in 2 days. They signed me out for 2 weeks because of my long commute and it was Christmas. I kind of begged for the extra week. :goodvibes
But seriously, I was driving and doing everything else after 2 days. I did sleep in the recliner for a week though because it pulled on the staples when I laid down flat.

I had mine done Lapriscopically (sp?) as well quite a while back, but I remember hurting pretty bad for a couple of days after the procedure. As time wore on I was able to walk easier and such, but I was told to take it as easy as possible for 2 weeks before going back to work and then no heavy lifting for about a week or so after that. It really depends on your threshold for pain as I have absolutely none! I had 3 tiny incisions for the procedure and the sutures needed to heal as well as the muscles and skin surrounding the areas. To your body it's an invasion and it takes a while to get back to normal. Just go along with what your body tells you. Don't rush the recovery and you'll be fine before you know it. :goodvibes

I am having mine out on 2/18....my doctor hasn't said how long I should be out, but most people I have talked to have said about a week since I have a desk job. If you have a job that requires a lot of movement or lifting it will be most likely be longer than that.

I had mine out on a Thursday, and was back to doing daycare on Monday. And I had a very large baby in my care. It wasn't the greatest, but I survived.

My partner is having hers out even as we speak! They wheeled her to the OR a few minutes ago.

For those of you who had yours removed, what were you able to eat post op. Lisa is diabetic so that complicates things just a bit.

I was very nauseated from being put under, but I think I had some crackers and soup around dinner time.
