How Long In Between Your Disney Trips??

We went to Disney last October, 2004 for 9 days and 8 nites. It was great. I jam-packed the whole trip with rides, parks, restaurants (heavy-duty scheduling/priority seating) and we had the best time.

BUT we were tired and needed afternoon breaks - we ended up going to the hotel in the late afternoon, shower, hang out for a bit and then go to a Disney restaurant either in the park or at AKL or another hotel (Polynesian)
and had the best time eating.....

I guess there never is enough time to stay in the parks every nite...Anyway,
sometimes on the trip, even though it was October it was still a little hot during the day and I got tired and sometimes wished I was on a beach or somewhere just relaxing instead of walking and coordinating plans all day long (up and out at 8am, home very late, 10-11pm)..

MY 2 QUESTIONS ARE:
1. Does anyone ever feel like you wished you were on an all inclusive trip relaxing WHILE you are on a disney trip?

2. HOw often in between Disney trips?? (we planned a PA trip instead of disney this november) :hourglass

I prefer WDW to any beach anywhere.

You CAN do WDW trips without going commando.

My shortest time in between trips is three days.

Now I average about 28 days between trips.

I don't live in Florida. Yet.

Okay this is like some sort of addicts annoyomous confession but we have been to WDW 3 times since last October and are planning another trip this October making that 4 times in one year. Add to that the three Disneyland trips in the same 12 month period and you see our problem! This has been sort of a special year with A LOT of old frequent flyer miles cashed in at last and making up for 12 previous years of no vacations. We now feel like we have seen and done quite a bit at both Disney parks and will spend more time enjoying the more relaxing things. Pool time, nice meals etc. Our first two WDW trips we went value and had a great time but I didn't enjoy our second stay at Pop as much because it was crowded and noisy and not too relaxing. We ended up joining DVC that trip because we realized that we love WDW and we might as well admit we aren't going to outgrow our addiction. I cannot wait to stay at a DVC resort and have some room to spread around in. In April we took a quick, shorter trip and stayed at POR (our points are not effective until August) and we made a real effort to relax. We didn't "commando" like our other trips and when I came home I didn't feel like I was returning from some sort of boot camp! I think as people take more Disney trips they realize that they don't need to see EACH and EVERY ride, show and attraction and can spend some time relaxing as well as park hopping. I can see why people enjoy the all inclusive type vacations but I just can't seem to swear off our Disney trips! After October we will likely go down to two trips a year, we're out of miles!

Well, I'm probably not the best person to ask, ;) since last April (04) we have been 5 times! We don't take long trips, usually 4 nights three days. Since we have been going so often we don't feel the overwhelming urge to rush around, if we miss it this time we'll see it the next visit. That was why I didn't freak that we missed the soft opening for Soarin' and th epassholder preview during our April trip. CM's on the monorail were like "they're doing soft openings in the afternoons" and I'd make a point of glancing over that way whenever we were in EPCOT but no luck. We figured we'd see it in June. Well, June is here now and we actually were supposed to be at the parks on Friday but decided since it's so hot and humid (not to mention crowded) we would wait till October and take advantage of discounted MNSSHP tickets for passholders. Lvoe the party and the cooler evenings in the parks!

I would rather be in Disney World then any other vacation spot in the world!

Dont get me wrong, we do travel elsewhere in the world for vacations.

But Disney is my all time favorite! I never want to be anywhere else when I am there. And when I am other places I find myself dreaming I am in Disney. :rotfl:

We usually go once a year. But sometimes squeeze a couple of more trips in. Like this year. We went in April & will be back in Nov! :wizard:

We do Disneyland at least twice a year, our last stay being this past Dec. As of today we have 24 days till our first WDW trip, 9 days eight nights at the WL! If all goes as planned were hoping to make WDW every other year. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :hourglass

6 day trip to Disneyland in 9/04, 8 day trip to WDW at the Poly and Grande Vista in 4/05, and another 6 day trip to WDW in 9/05 at Old Key West...my DH wants to kill me! He is so sick of Disney, but I can't get enough and want 3 year old DD to have the same memories I have when my family went on a week-long trip at least once a year to the Poly...crazy, eh? I would go more often if I could and if the plane ride from Salt Lake City wasn't so dang long! :earseek:

I love Disney, DD loves Disney, and DH loves the beach (he likes Disney a lot too. LOL). So every time we go to WDW usually a 10 day/9 night stay we take one day and do exactly what you said. We go and sit on the beach for an entire day. No PS's to get to, no fighting the crowds, no waiting in lines, just relaxing on the beach. It's great, it rejuvenates us for our next day at the parks and Cocoa Beach is only about 45 minutes away from WDW. We always rent a car but I'm sure your resort could arrange something for you if you didn't have a car to drive. There are so many great beaches so close to WDW that you should definately make a point to take at least one day and go relax and sit on the beach.

OK! Another addict here!!! We were there from 5/9 to 5/17 . . . DH and I are going back without the girls 8/24 to 8/29!!! This will make eight visits since 2000 and nine total for me!! I can NEVER get enough of Walt Disney World. This trip will be the shortest time between trips . . . three months!!! (Used to be four months!!)

We would NEVER choose the shore over a Walt Disney World vacation. At this point that would be too boring for us . . . we need to be entertained!!! I can't even think about staying at one of the shore hotels after staying at the Disney resorts!!! Besides, down the shore they charge an arm and a leg for rooms!!! You can get two moderate rooms at WDW for the price of one room at the shore!! :earseek:

While I was planning our May 2005 vacation I asked the girls if they would rather go on a cruise instead of WDW . . . they said NO WAY!!! THAT'S OK WITH ME!!

Our first WDW trip was January of this year. Then we went in April and will finish the year in October. It's been a good year, but I expect things will be tighter after this year and we'll have to do one trip/year after that. :( First trip was 7 days/6 nights; 2nd was 5 days/4 nights; and Oct will be a LONG trip 10 days.

I'd say one day between Disney trips is optimal. You need some time for the beach. Unfortunately, my wallet disagrees with that assessment and claims five years is optimal. I think I'd better go buy a new wallet.

My wife does not have a love of Disney like I do - so I am pushing for once a year. Before our 10 day trip last year it was 5 years since we were there. Now at least we are going back again this year for 1 week.

She is in an all cash business and only takes one vacation a year. Whereas I get 4 weeks. Hopefully in the future we will be going twice a year for a minimum of 12 days each trip.

As far as the Beach goes, we did that 4 years in a row and it was never my cup of tea. I rather sit by a pool with a nice cold drink. I hated getting all sandy and I just never liked it. If you go to Disney - you can take it easy. There is no reason to kill yourself. We did that last year. We didn't see everything, but at least we were relaxed.

I had a fabulous time during our trip the week before Christmas in 2000, and spent many hours on these boards getting the best tips and making my plans. The trip before that was at least 10 years ago. We're going in December this year, and I'm once again glued to the DIS boards and enjoying all the planning and anticipation. Although we plan to spend only 3 or 4 days in the parks (in addition to MVMCP), we decided to go ahead and buy 7-day non-expiring passes, which means we'll obviously plan a future trip to WDW to use the 3 or 4 days left on those passes. However, I have a feeling it might be another 4 or 5 years. That seems about the right time for us between trips to Disney.

too long...

4 years, but I dream of the day we can afford going once a year...

I go about every 4 years. Because I go so infrequently, I feel an obligation to get as much in as possible and go commando.

My family enjoys Disney. I think I will try to go more often so I won't try to do everything everytime. To do it, I'll have to reduce expenses. Maybe get an annual pass so I can get better resort discounts and also downgrade from a deluxe resort.

my husband and I go about every 2-3 yrs. In 2000 we bought an AP since we were offsite for 10 days (best price per day) and went back in Sept 2001 (actually in Epcot on 9/11). We felt that not enough had changed to go every year.

This past Oct we did a big trip - 10 days at the YC on the silver plan. That is the way to go -we took our time - relaxed, saw most of the parks, swam at SAB daily, parasailed, did the KTTK tour, etc - stuff we would have never done before. We love an all inclusive vacation also - have been to Mexico 3 times in 3 yrs.

We just took the atttitude that we would not come home exhausted like we usually do.

i try to go 2-3 times a year, the annual pass definitely helps, and I think DVC will help even more. 99% of the time i cant imagine going anywhere else besides WDW or Disneyland, I am just afraid that after so many visits the magic will begin to dissipate. i certainly hope that doesnt happen.

I'd go to Disney every year. My hubby on the other hand wants to go every other year. He loves Disney but is afraid that if we went every year it would "deflate the magic". Sigh. But hey, you compromise in marriages. LOL. So we do something else in the off year like the beach, or this year Sesame Place. It also costs less to do those things and we can save more money for Disney.

We go to Disney every 18months. We stay 10 days/9 nights and it is perfect. We have enough time that we don't have to go commando and we don't have that "we didnt have enough time to do what we wanted" in Disney.

We usually go every July. I buy APs and move the second trip up a few weeks so we get both trips out of one AP. The trips also keep getting longer. 2003- 7 nights Fairytale Package at GF (the one that got us hooked). 2004- 3 nights at HRH, 8 nights at GF 2005 - 2 nights at Nick Hotel, 11 nights at GF, 4 nights at HRH.

1. NO :) I was at walt disney world for a month never felt we needed to leave, did drive to the ocean one day but spent the evening at the Mk

2. We try to get at least two trips out of our ap, the record is 3 trips one year the smallest gap in between was one month we had just returned from 25 days November 19th and we were on our way back december 23 for 12 more days :earsboy: :earsboy:
