How late is too Late?

How late is too late to arrive at the Fort for check-in? We we're planning on taking off on Friday and heading down about lunch time and arriving about 6 o'clock, but that was before my wife had to take a few sick days earlier this week. Her school only allows so many absences a year and because it is the day before a holiday, and they have a rule that you can't use any kind of leave the day before or after a holiday she wouldn't get paid for this day regardless, we are thinking about taking off right after she gets out of school. This will put us getting there about 10 to 10:30 at night. Is this acceptable? I realize at most campgrounds u aren't gonna make any friends with this behavior.

Everyone understands the uncertainties of the road, departure situations, and events that happen on the way. Especially given how far some folks come for a WDW vacation. I for one appreciate your thoughtfulness and concern but no time is really too late.

You've paid a deposit (for a room-only ressie) at a minimum so your arrival night is paid for. So roll in and take ownership of your site. Obviously, if it's late then please do it quietly and leave anything that can wait till morning. The fact that you come in late is not an issue. If you try to be quiet (speak softly, shut off the headlights to not illuminate the tent across from you, etc.) your neighbors will appreciate it. None of us could come in and set up silently.

So what's your rig (tow vehicle and camper or RV)?

Fun. I've had to make many a late night arrival to races, campgrounds or other places. Like Ed said, just being aware of headlights and excessive noise goes a long way. Do the minimum necessary as quickly as possible and apologize profusely in the morning, you will be fine.

Just kidding on the apologizing thing. Most of us understand.

If possible disengage your WDH. I know when we towed a TT (with a Tundra!) our Equal-i-zer would announce our arrival a quarter of a mile away, so if we arrived late somewhere we'd take the bars off once we got to the CG so it wasn't squeaking and popping while we backed in.

Yes I know you have a camper but every time I have heard someone come in last they ALWAYS have a big bag of poles that sound like a 20 foot tall wind chime.

no tent poles here. we plan on quietly stabilizing and balancing her out and getting to bed. we will have two little ones up early the next morning and a big day planned. gonna explore the Fort after breakfast, have some lunch, rest and then head over to MK for a be our guest adr.

Agreed, if you're taking the time to ask about it I know you'll be considerate when you get there! You'll probably even find others will help you no matter how late it is if you need it. When we were there in February some folks were trying to get backed into the site across from us after midnight and my father in law and I were still up and went out there and helped them get in. You'll be just fine Enjoy your trip!

When I had a TT my DW thought the same thing. We had dual sway controls before I bought my first "real" truck. I told my DW the noise was the trailer attachment signal. If she didn't hear it anymore, get worried.

On my arrival night last November, the campers directly behind me rolled in around 0100 in the morning.
The guy made it a point to apologize the next morning. Apparently he had vehicle trouble on the way down making him late. I was appreciative of his efforts to not disturb everybody by waiting until daylight to actually set his site up.

My DW is always wondering if it's supposed to make that much noise. Particularly when "Turning" (at slow speeds). I have to confess, even I thought it was a bit loud at times too.

BTDT. Myrtle Beach trip in 2013. My parents had vehicle trouble. We didn't roll in until 1:30AM. I did drop bars in the road with very little noise. Dad and the security guard helped me get the trailer backed in. However, the next morning, the people across the way the way looked at me and said I looked like I went through hell. I said we did.

While I personally prefer to arrive during daylight hours (some of those loops are pretty tight.) I had a breakdown on year and other then the missed days, I had no problem getting checked in at 0200 hours at Disney. We also had a blow out one year which turned into an 11:45 arrival. Both times staff was there to greet us with a smile and remind us we made it and can now relax on vacation.

Both times we just backed into the site as quickly as we could and tried to keep the noise down. No complaints from the neighbors.

1) As mentioned above, with your ressie, you are guaranteed a space or a room at a Disney resort.
2) With others checking in prior to you, it may or may not be the space you requested.
. . . people who check-in early can ask to be moved to a different room or site (this goes for all Disney resorts)
. . . even if you paid for a better room or site, you could be placed in one less desired by you
. . . but, there will be a spot for you somewhere, so do not worry.
