How inappropriate is this??

Unbelievable! As a mom of 2 boys (who are now waaay to old to pee outside!) that is something I never let them do anywhere!! I think it's totally disgusting. But especially against the monorail pole at Epcot!!???:scared1:

I'll never be too old to pee outside!

I would have said something to the man. "I don't know what people do in your country, but in America we use toilets." And yes, I would say that assuming that the man was American. With all of the bathrooms located throughout WDW, I cannot imagine any situation that would justify allowing a child to urinate in the middle of a park.

Wetting your pants in not the end of the world. We have all done it. I would hope my child would know that an accident is an accident--no big deal. We'll get it cleaned up/fixed. I still think there is no viable excuse for urinating in the middle of WDW.

I completely agree. Several years ago, my then step-son (around 5 1/2) had a wetting accident while waiting for Fantasmic to start. We dealt with it and moved on -and he wasn't harmed for life because of it. He was always an "accident prone" child, past the age of 6 and usually when he had to go he had to go RIGHT THAT SECOND! But I always found a bathroom and never once would have allowed him to just go wherever it was convenient. This is especially true at a place like Disney, where there are bathrooms everywhere.

I think this is disgusting. I have a 5 year old son and never, and yes I'll use the word never, had him pee in public like this. He was not camping, hiking or out in the wilderness with no restroom.

We would take him to the bathroom. If he wet his pants then we would change him if. I would consider it a lesson learned that he needs to speak up earlier and not wait til its coming out to tell mommy and daddy. Is wetting his pants a "trauma"? Not in my book. At least not any more than flipping out your privates in public for all to see.

IMO, it's disgusting...bottom line. It isn't excusable because it's a kid, it isn't excusable because it's a boy, it isn't excusable period. There are bathrooms. Use them--excuses shouldn't be made for such actions.

That's just wrong and gross. This is one of the reasons we always make regular bathroom stops while at the parks regardless of whether or not DS has to go. We make him go so that he doesn't decide at the last minute that he has to pee and then we're scrambling to find a bathroom. This is absolutely inexcusable.

We recently had to return to Indiana for a funeral and between where we live and Indy there are some long stretches without places to stop, ie. no bathrooms. What we do is get off on an exit where there is nothing around and let him pee there. He's not standing on the side of a busy highway.

It happens. Move on with your life. Hopefully, seeing a six year old pee didn't scar you for life.

I find it completely ridiculous no matter the circumstance. What could they have been? Having to urinate? Well obviously the pole is a much better choice than a bathroom, you get you spread your magic and kill the plants and grass in the most magical place on earth! Jeesh some people are so rude.

I teach my kids to always use the restroom at the parks, but it's ok to pee in the pool at the resorts.

Just Kidding.

How can anyone fine this acceptable for any reason. :confused3 There are plenty restrooms to be used, this father should have been escorted out of the park.

It would be a bit out of the ordinary but I would not be overly upset about it. It was a small child and not an adult. :) We just don't know all of the facts of the situation. Hopefully, after that incident dad learns where all of the potty locations are. :)

We returned home from Disney just recently and on our last day at Epcot I saw the most appalling thing ever. Maybe I am just being a snob, but when we were headed to test track I saw a man letting his son urinate right next to a monorail pole. He was about 6 years old and there was a bathroom just around the corner!

Right in plain view of everyone walking by. I said something discreetly to my husband so my kids wouldn't take notice and he said "I guess he had to go" UGH.....I think this is really rude...

I have a 5 year old boy who I would NEVER let do this.

No call for anything like this, especially if there is a bathroom right there. How unsanitary. How incredibly rude & lazy of the father not to take the boy to a restroom.

:scared: Unless he was going to pee his pants right then and there-completely inappropriate-my DH would never allow our DS3 to do that, nor would I ,and he was 6- he must have been embarassed-SHAME SHAME on that dad!

5. note to self: don't splash in any puddles at Epcot.

:rotfl2:

i have a toddler-in-training and have already thought about how that will be at our upcoming trip. under NO circumstances would i allow him to "drop trou" at wdw - shoot, i would not even let him do that in our own backyard! we just take frequent potty breaks :thumbsup2 !

If I was close I'd have pointed out the restrooms to him for future reference. It's not good manners to do that and it is unacceptable in our society so I don't let my kids pee in public (on purpose). But the reality is that I would have noticed it, probably showed DH and gotten a bit of a laugh about never escaping ppl with bad manners. That's it.

I'm sure we all swim in pools with toddlers so in effect we're swimming in goodness knows how much pee in there. Swim diapers only hold solids in. Not pee. So for those who are disgusted by urine, just keep it in mind next time you get into a pool.

I also can't think of any reasons to justify this (and I grew up with a dad and brother who almost seemed to LOOK for excuses to pee outside. . .!). Uck, think of all the little kids who put their hands on poles, trees, etc, that could now be potty infested.

I have a 6 year old son and would definitely never allow him to do something like that. But...I do have a close friend who had a condition when she was a child and wore diapers until the age of 12 because her bladder never grew as she got older. Since, she's had reconstructed bladder surgery and now has to urinate through a catheter inserted through the belly button. Now i dont know what it would be like to have a bladder the size of an infant but im sure it would be tough if i were a child trying to get to the bathroom in time. I am not trying to justify what happened but rather give an example to how we never know what kind of situation the person could be in.

I have a question for those that say they would NEVER let thier kid do this. What would be more important to you?

A. Your child making a few people uncomfortable.
B. Your child going through the trauma of urinating him/her self in public at Disney World.

Never seems to be a word people toss around easly until they find themselves in the situation.

Well said!!
