How does the ranking of AKL change if the Sky Liner is added?

I’m happy enough with AKV, either one. A Skyliner stop would not make it better for me.

I'd like a path to AK. It would be so nice to be able to just walk there from Jambo.

Only 1/2 a mile to Pandora (or 3/4 of a mile to the main gate), but there's a Savanna, a forest, and a large body of water in the way. A short Skyliner line would be the way to go to connect it up.

They are DEFINITELY planning on extending the Skyliner to AKL - the direction of one of the turns on current Skyliner route points right at AKL, so one day it will happen - and it will make AKL one of the top resorts to stay at. Transportation is the biggest complaint of AKL - we stayed there in Feb, and had to take ubers TWICE so we could get to park on time (i.e - so we could get on ROTR)

If skyliner was there now, we would have bought AKL instead of RIV :)

What?

Is there any example of this system able to go in multiple directions? From what it seems you need a CBR style station to route between different directions.

Also that turn was put in to line up with the Epcot station and not have it impede the park more than it is.

Problem with AK for us is lack of any outside walking space at all save for a car park. A nice path down to the park with a bridge would elevate the resort high up for us. As it is we will not rush back.

The bus ride is ridiculously short so why couldn't they have a path along that route?

It would be the same for us. I like the resort a lot, its a little off the beaten track, but I am much less enamoured of the Skyliner than some people (I don't like heights) and I like my home resort better than VAKL. Quickservice at Kidani would move it up more than the Skyliner would.

My guess.....paths need to be maintained. There are wetlands along there, and any ditch in Florida can contain an alligator - so you'll also want to install and maintain fencing. But its Disney, so you want something sort of attractive. The path between the BWV and DHS is barely used, but must be lit, maintained, there must be cameras along it and there have probably been plenty of moments that Disney thinks "we shouldn't have bothered with that."

Wonder if they could run a tram from the parking lot instead of a walking path. For the most part, we aren't bothered by the buses at AKL. We spend an equal amount of time at BWV and those buses and waits can feel just as long or longer. We rarely have good luck with any bus to/from BWV and DS.

The only bus that usually bothers us from AKL is the one to AK. It seems so ridiculous to wait a half hour or more for a bus ride that is literally a couple of minutes. We would prefer to walk but I don't see it actually happening.

VAKL is one of the Disney resorts that I wouldn't have minded having a car at - we own at BWV and tend to stay there - and there isn't any reason for a car at BWV - we will take a cab or Uber a few times a trip - be we DO use the DHS path and walk into Epcot - and we will walk through Epcot to come back from the MK - so we aren't on a lot of busses. But last time we were at Disney we did stay at VAKL - Kidani (we had a young kid with us), and a car would have been nice. You are SO bus dependent at that resort without a car.

I totally agree, although a lot of people love the path to DHS there are never many people on it. To have a path going from AK to AKL would not add much value for a lot of people and it would cost Disney a considerable amount to maintain. Also, it would go through a lot of land that Disney does not currently have open to guests if they opened up these areas they would have to look after the areas with dense tree coverage a lot more - just another added expense.
As much as I would like it, I don't think that we will get a walking path.

We could both be wrong - it looks like the long desired path from the GF is/has happened, and I never thought that would go in for the same reasons. Although that is helpful when the monorail goes out of service, which happens a few times a year.

How about a safari truck route? That would seem more fitting to go through that terrain From AKL to the park.

I always see people on the HWS to BWV path.

One major thing there though- there are boats so people take them, and now Skyliner so people take that as well. There’s no such amenities at AKL.

For anyone who likes to exercise, walk and run (plenty of us) AKL is a poor choice. Because of lack of facility, the treadmills are often full in the gym. I saw a few people sprinting up and down the car park.

The OKW to SSR and DS path goes along a lot of areas where there’s wildlife. It has no cameras to my knowledge, and in fact is technically closed after dark as it has no lighting either.

Put a path in at AKL with some lighting and some fencing- this is one of the things that doesn’t need constant high levels of maintenance and would really lift the resort. Imagine strolling back from the park on an evening after a meal.

We walked to the parks at least once a day almost every day at Universal from Aventura hotel last year. That’s a really long path- there’s no cameras etc on that one either I could see. Great path- really elevated that hotel and Sapphire Falls. This was filmed very early morning and therefore on this video looks quite quiet, but the path was well used- and much better landscaped than the Disney long paths:

While there is probably plans for expansion don’t think that it will connect from AKV with that turn from Epcot to RIV. That would make another stop from Epcot to CBR, adding more time.
Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t OKW and SSR, or is it just SSR, that have a right of way for the monorail to go through the property. How would that affect them? Disney will never do it because it costs too much money, but it is written into the deed. I see that possibly being a issue for AKL/V. Is anything written in the deed for a transportation upgrade.

I wouldn’t bet on any transportation/construction updates like adding more skyliners for at least 5-7 years given the money they’re going to have to make up for this year and most of next year.

Love the map. Thanks! Any extension of the Skyliner is a good idea. We love it!
