We have only flown SouthWest ABC system.

Now flying JetBlue, with those TV's :goodvibes to keep everyone occupied:cool1:

We are in row 3.
I printed out the boarding pass about 23 hours before our flight.

So - Does JetBlue board row by row ?
From front to back of the plane ?
From back to front of the plane?
From time stamp on the boarding pass - the earlier printed, the earlier you board ?

Thanks!

Our experience has been that they board guests needing special assistance first, then families with young children, then board all others from the back of the plane to the front.

Those with special needs board first. Then, they sometimes ask for those flying with young children to board. It always amazes me to see how many families, with children over the age of 6, feel they need special boarding.
Then, they board from the back of the plane forward. I seldom book forward seats....especially if flying with carryon bags only. I want that overhead space, and if you are in the front of the plane, you may very well find no overhead space!!!
Those in the front of the plane board last. Groups of rows board together.
Now, I have boarded, and found one of those early boarding families just standing in the aisle, chatting and getting settled. Now..it's been a fair amount of time since they boarded. And there is a back up of passengers trying to get past them..and they are somewhat curt when asked to step into the seat area. So, little miss mouth here feels obligated to remind them that since they boarded so early, they should be all settled now..and it would be nice to be able to get to my seat without having to shove past early boarders.
Yeah, I know..not very nice. But really? Sometimes you just have to say something to the clueless or entitled.

Oh, goofy4tink, I wish you had been sitting near my son on our Jetblue flight home from Orlando on January 7th!!

We like aisle seats, so that's what we select on booking. DH and I were sitting across from each other, and DS was immediately in front of my DH (diagonally across from me). Same assignments as we had on the way down from SYR so we knew exactly where to find our seats when we boarded our flight home :thumbsup2.

Two adults (a male and female.....we assume they were a couple) had the window and middle seat next to DS. They would have been in their 50's. They approach DS (who rises to allow them to move into the spaces beside him) and immediately tell DS (none to nicely I might add) that he has the wrong seat. He assures them (very nicely...he's a pretty gentle soul) that he's in the correct seat. They argue some more. He shows them his boarding pass. The wife assures the husband she booked the aisle seat, and insist the airline has made a mistake on DS's boarding pass :sad2: . She stands there, holding everyone else up, refusing to move past DS and into her seat. I decide its time for Mom to get involved and speak directly to DS (but in a loud enough voice for the two dingalings to hear) directing DS to just sit in HIS SEAT because he was most definitely in the correct spot. Poor DS is mortified and drops into place. The husband finally encourages the wife to "just sit for now and he'll see what he can do" (duh! the flight was full!).

They continue to mutter and complain the entire flight home about DS having their seat. I was sooooo wishing it was MY seat and then I could have set them straight. Scratch that. With my non-confrontational style I would have sat quietly as well (which is where my DS gets it from!!). How I wish I had the wherewithall to speak up like you do!!! I am always happy when someone stands up for what's right :) . It may not be "nice", but man....some people need a little reminder now and again!!

I just flew JetBlue for the first time and it was great. I had seat 3C Extra Leg Room. They boarded anyone in wheelchairs first, then they boarded all those that were in the first rows that paid for the extra leg room. After they extra legroom seats were boarded they boarded the rest of the plane from the back to the front. There was no special boarding for familes with young kids since that would be most of the plane since it was headed to MCO. The on disappointment was that the TVs didn't work the entire flight. Flight Attendent told us how to contact JetBlue about it and they gave me a $15 credit for no TV.

Oh man...I hate people like that!!! I don't often speak up, but there are just some times when I can't keep my mouth closed!! If I had been you?? I actually would have traded seats with my kid....let those idiots keep up their grumbling next to me!!!

Oh, I offered, but he decided to stay put. That'ss where the tv's and earphones came in very handy. A little extra volume and he was good for the ride :thumbsup2 . We could hear them still grumbling about it as they exited the plane :sad2: .

I will tell the attendant when we get to the gate we are in row 3 and have an overhead small landsend red duffel bag. I want the bag in the overhead near us - not 10 rows away from us.
I hope they can accommodate our request. ;)

I don't know which style of plane you're flying, but if your row 3 is part of the extra leg room seats, you'll get to board first. Otherwise, I doubt the flight attendants will make any sort of promises about where your carry-on will end up. Will it fit under your seat?

No questions asked, no discussion at all you should have put your son in your seat or at the very least, called a FA over.

Have to agree. If you have paid for an extra legroom seat, then you may be boarded first. Otherwise, those overhead bins are up for grabs. A FA isn't going to promise you the bin right above your head.

That's why I head to the rear of the plane, in most cases. Plenty of overhead space. And if I have carryon luggage, then I don't mind spending a bit more time waiting to get off the plane....that means I have no checked bags, so no need to spend time waiting for it to come out in baggage claim.

Everyone wants their carry-on in the compartment over their seat (not 10 rows away from them), so I don't understand what you are requesting?

I don't know about JetBlue (have never flown on them) but on any other airline I have been on you are not guaranteed the spot in overhead bin above your seat. Since the airlines started charging for checked bags, the amount of carry-on stuff has gotten out of control! If you are one of the last to board, you might have to send your bag to baggage claim because the bins are full. Bring on a bag small enough to go under the seat in front of you and you won't have to worry about bin space.

That is not how things work. Your overhead space is not reserved; anyone can place a bag above your seat and I can assure you that FAs have better things to do then to protect "your" baggage space. Don't bother asking this unless you want the FAs to add this to their crazy PAX request stories.

At 16, he is no longer a child (not in my book anyway ;) ), but rather a young man. I offered to step in, he wanted to handle it himself. There was no immediate "danger" so I had to respect his wishes :thumbsup2 . He has flown more than I have (even flying alone as a 14 year old) so he's a quite capable traveller, and has good judgement. If at any point he truly felt uncomfortable, he would have let me know.

But ooohhhh.....it sure doesn't stop my mother bear claws from coming out!! I can't help but think they were simply annoyed that they were "stuck" beside a teenaged boy :sad2: .

He was being bullied and it's just a shame that these lamebrains got away with it.

Yeah... No. Whoever said it is right - that woman was trying to bully your son. It's not his responsibility that the couple failed to notice they didn't have adjacent or 'the right' seats. The only apparent mistake was hers. Do you have any idea what she considered the 'right' seat for him?
