How do you say YUM in Canadian? 7 Days on DxDP w/ pix! *COMPLETED 3/21*

And why do people like them so much? Personally, they made a huge mess. Trust me, don't get these for breakfast because you'll have powdered sugar ALL OVER you. Get them at like 11 at night like we did and have a laugh when the air blows out!
That was my question too. Even my KIDS wouldn't eat them?????:confused3

BUT we did have fun with them. I inhaled as I took the first bite and got a lung full of powdered sugar! I coughed for about 5 minutes while DH and the kids laughed at me.

We actually ended up throwing them away. :guilty:

I've been lurking, so I thought I'd pop in and say hi! I'm enjoying your reviews!

Great reviews! I will be there in less than 3 weeks. Can't wait to get another Dole Whip! I think my sweet daughter will love them, too. Keep up the great job!

Thanks for sharing those snacks. i didn't know that some of those drinks counted and the dole whip, which i must try on my next trip. :goodvibes

Yes! There are so many snacks! I will say, and I'm totally not joking, we actually printed out the snacks available (from the DDP board) and put it so all the "Magic Kingdom" snacks were on one page, all DHS on the another, etc., etc. Then we would bring the snack sheet with us to the park. So when we got hungry (which we never technically were!), we just whipped out our snacks and picked what sounded good. It was a lot of fun to see all the options.

I have to disagree about the beignets - I absolutely love them, although I'll admit they are messy. I found them perfectly sweet enough and actually tipped a lot of the powdered sugar off of them as I found that too sweet.

Still, horses for courses...

Great reviews :thumbsup2

You know what, I actually completely understand your point. I was thinking about it, and I realized that yes, people probably like them BECAUSE they are just a hint of sweet. I guess I have sort of a sweet tooth? I think having an expectation for these after all the posts may have been my downfall. I think I might try your advice, brush off some of the sugar, and try them with new eyes. Or taste buds. Or whatever. ;)

That is TOO FUNNY (though I'm sorry for you pain  ). They do have A LOT of powdered sugar and it makes a mess! So don't inhale next time? (Why did I just think of Bill Clinton?) Though, I wouldn't recommend EXHALING right before a bite either, or you'll blow a powdered sugar shower all over the place!

I've been lurking, so I thought I'd pop in and say hi! I'm enjoying your reviews!

Love your reviews!

Aww, thanks to both of you guys for posting. I'm glad you're liking the food porn.

Great reviews! I will be there in less than 3 weeks. Can't wait to get another Dole Whip! I think my sweet daughter will love them, too. Keep up the great job!

You'll love it! I really think you can't go wrong here. Even if you're a little iffy about the pinapple juice and soft serve, just get the Dole Whip by itself. There's nothing not to like.

That's a great idea! I have color coded index cards for everything else. I'm going to make a snack cheat sheet!!!

Sorry there was sort of lag between updates. I started a new job today, and it always takes awhile to get adjusted to that. So let's have ourselves some Princess Storybook Dining!!!

DSCF0391.jpg

So I had already dined here for breakfast last year when I went in March. Let me tell you, I still can't get enough of this restaurant! I LOVE it! I've only had breakfast, but it's something I looked forward too. Now let me preface this by saying that I am a Disney princess kind of Disney fan, so I'm DEFINITELY here to see my girls. But I ALSO love having cute Norway boys as my waiters. I mean, seriously, does anyone else notice the cute Norway boys? I should have taken a picture of our waiter. PURE HOTNESS. Anyways, our ADR was for 8:55AM. We had EMH mornings (park opened at 8 for us, 9 to public), so we ran over to Soarin', rode it (trust me, best advice I got on here: get to rope drop, RIDE Soarin THEN Fast pass, we literally walked on, and we were the first "ride" of the day!), got Fast passes for later, and headed over to Norway with plenty of time to take some GORGE shots of the lagoon with nobody around.

I'll start this review off with our obligatory Belle photo shoot. Belle was very sweet. We asked her where Beast was, and she said he was sleeping in. She also said we could say hi to him later in France. Sure enough, Belle (the same one) was over at France several hours later with the Beast! Note our Mardi Gras beads. We got beaded during the trek to Soarin'. It was Fat Tuesday.

DSCF0393.jpg

We ordered our juice + other non-alcoholic beverage. (I got the OJ and water, Brittany got the milk and apple juice)

DSCF0397.jpg

In case you don't know how this works (I can't imagine you don't at this point), you get a hot plate including bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and cheesy potatoes. They bring this out and you can have "refills" of any of the four items you want.

DSCF0395.jpg

I ate the sausage and eggs (both are VERY yummy), Brittany devoured the bacon, and we both gobbled down every spec of those potatoes. If you like cheesy potatoes, these are some of the best potatoes ANYWHERE. I don't know what it is about them but they are just awesome.

Next, there is a "cold" buffet that includes cheeses, fruits, deli meats, and pastries.

For whatever reason, Brittany and I only got one "cold" plate each from the buffet. With the hot plate, we were totally happy and full after one plate from the buffet. Combined, our two plates show all the pastries and much of the fruit, etc. available.

Brittany's plate, From top, going clockwise: banana, strawberry, grapes, honeydew, cantelope, some sort of fruit spread (not sure about this), cinnamon bun, apple danish, biscuit, berry muffin.

DSCF0396.jpg

My plate, from top going clockwise: Grapes, cantelope, strawberry, strawberry jam, (for biscuit that is off the plate), cinnamon bun, cherry danish, apple danish, berry muffin.

DSCF0394.jpg

All the fruit is awesome, fresh, and yummy. I actually have one of each of the pastries available, so this is all that was offered in that department. The cinnamon bun is probably the most "boring" of the bunch. Not much to it. Cherry danish has a yummy filling if you like cherry pie filling. Apple danish is a little hard, but still good. Berry muffin is the best baked good item here. I loved the streusel topping.

Overall, this is a very good breakfast. Yes, you're mainly paying for characters, but I just always love my experience here. I also love that you get a picture package with this meal too. I recommend this to ANYONE that likes princesses.

And now for your viewing pleasure (and to see some of the options of princesses possible)... I bring you princess pictures! (FYI: last year in March 08 I had Belle, at the front, Snow White, Jasmine, Mulan, and Mary Poppins). This year, Mulan was replaced with Aurora! This had me super excited since she was the only princess (besides Pocahontas) I had yet to meet.

Aurora asked us if we had any "princes" in our life (which once again was funny to me and Brittany considering my last name is Prince, but I know what she meant). I told her I had one in mind but I heard Prince Phillip was taken. She said, "Oh we got married, you know!" It was so cute. Then I told her I just got her movie on DVD. She said that was wonderful. I love princesses!

DSCF0398.jpg

Next came Mary Poppins. Before she came around, Brittany and I were racking our brains trying to remember the name of her "chimney sweep" BF in the movie. And we were like, did they get together in the end? We couldn't remember! Brittany says, "Hey, let's ask her!" So she comes around and we say, "So we forgot the name of the guy you get with at the end of your movie!" And she seriously chuckles and says (in a great upper-crest British accent), "Oh you mean Bert? We're very good friends!" Priceless.

DSCF0400.jpg

Jasmine was just a firecracker. She comes to our table and asks us where we're from. She makes an Ohio joke (round on each end, high in the middle type deal) and Brittany and I stare at her like, Huh? (Not realizing she's making a bad joke.) And she seriously looks down all nervous and mumbles, "Bad joke, I know. I have a better one! Why did Aladdin go to the Haunted Mansion? He wanted to find a-BU!" (get it, Abu? A Boo? ;) ) We all cracked up together. I LOVE these princesses!

DSCF0404.jpg

Last was Snow White. She is always beautiful. She wasn't as talkative as the others, but we still love her.

DSCF0406.jpg

Again, I love Akershus.

Coming up next... Sunshine Seasons and Dinner at POFQ (which was originally and ADR for Coral Reef Restaurant but.. things change!)

So over at Club Cool that day, I tricked a certain someone.

DSCF0408.jpg

Plane tickets..... $575
Disney Disney Dining Plan... $500
Magic Your Way Tickets.... $800
Tricking your friends into drinking Beverly...PRICELESS.

(I got her actual "reaction" on video. So funny!)

We love the Princess Breakfast too! And we had the exact same Princesses (and the people that played them) in January! That is wild!

Haha...I made my bf try the Beverly...he didn't make a face, so no picture :( Just a comment: "Well...that was...not something I want to drink agian..." :lmao:

Also, yes, Norway is a hit in my family. I enjoy the eye candy and my brother likes the girls. My Mom and I like to pick out a girl for him!

love your trip report, you guys looked like you were having a blast.

Great reviews! LOVE your Akershus review. We will be there in two weeks for breakfast and can't wait!

Great reviews! Thanks for sharing. I am going and staying at POFQ in May and we are going Deluxe! I have 3 TS each day - lots of the same places - so I love hearing your reviews.

Man, starting a new job really messes with your schedule! I'm still adjusting to all the new stuff, so I'm sorry about the lag between updates. Please bare with me, I took all these pictures, I'm sharing them all. This will be finished! :lovestruc

So I'm still on the Tuesday of our trip. This was our first day at Epcot. We were over at the Land around lunchtime, so we road Soarin with our FP we got in the morning, and headed over to Sunshine Seasons.

DSCF0412.jpg

First of all, this place is CRAZY crowded. I find this to be true of most QS places, but something about Sunshine Seasons makes it seem like a madhouse.

BUT, one reason we tried it was because I read about the variety you can get on the meal plan. This QS has several "stations" which include Salads, Sandwiches, Grill, and Asian (there may be more but this is what I remember). Each of these "stations" has their own line, then once you've collected all your stuff, you pay. On the meal plan, you can pick an entree from any of these stations. There is also a Bakery station where you can get your dessert (which is included on the meal plan). Let's be honest, over all the "pre-packaged" lame desserts you get at almost all QS places at WDW, this bakery ROCKS. Seriously, go just pick from the bakery for dessert. I wish I could have tried more than one!

Brittany ordered from the Asian menu. This is some sort of chicken, veggies, and rice. For dessert, she got the chocolate mousse cake.

DSCF0411.jpg

Brittany seemed to like this (I can't remember her commenting on it), because she didn't say anything bad and ate most of it. She loved the cake and ate ALL of it.

I remember being very full from Akershus, so didn't want something too heavy. I got the Ceasar salad.

DSCF0410.jpg

They sort of "build" this salad in front you. They put on the lettuce (which is pre-mixed with the dressing), then you can get croutons and the cheese (or ask for it off). They can then put chicken on it if you like. The chicken was warm and had a wonderful flavor. With the big cheese slices, this salad was very good. I also ordered the chocolate mousse cake. Let me say to my own credit, since all the stations are broken up, and we did not realize we both got the same dessert. If I would have known, I would have gotten something else so we could have tried different things together. Anyways, the cake was very moist and very yummy. I wanted to try the Asian cake, but I realized when they were plating it that it had peanuts on it. :headache: I hate you allergy!

Overall, this is a GREAT QS at WDW. I will definitely got back here.

Coming up next... Sassagoula Floatworks (in POFQ) Dinner

Moving right along...

Backstory: We originally had 8:30PM reservations for Coral Reef Restaurant. Around 7:30PM, we were over riding Nemo. At this time, I was absolutely beyond exhausted. From the getting up at 6:00am for EMH morning and accumulated sleep deprivation, I was DONE. Like not seeing straight, miserable exhausted. Brittany was doing better than me, but she could see my misery and let us skip Coral Reef without making me feel guilty at all. We actually went into the restaurant to avoid having to call. The very nice CM at the desk told us that if we could wait 30 minutes we could get in (which would be 30 minutes before our ADR), but at this point I didn't even care about eating. I just needed to relax! I had already eaten here last year, and to be honest it wasn't my favorite by a mile.

Bottom line: If you are no longer having fun, don't sacrifice enjoying your vacation because of an ADR. I was very glad I went back to our resort, because I never had any problem being worn out, because I took the rest I needed.

Moving on, Brittany and I headed over to Sassagoula around 11pm for a late dinner.

Here's the sign again just to keep things consistent:

DSCF0146.jpg

Once again, POFQ is set up in 5 stations. One is a pizza station (which they give you a buzzer for because it takes 10-12min to cook them), Grill-type with burgers, etc., A "Specialty" station which had New Orleans type food, A Sort-of-Mexican station with taco salads, etc., and the bakery (read: desserts).

Brittany and I both ordered from the Sort-of-Mexican station (I made up that name, btw  ). Brittany ordered the taco salad. For dessert, she picked the (very large) chocolate-chip cookie.

DSCF0416.jpg

Close-up:
DSCF0417.jpg

Now this was just OKAY (I didn't try this, but I remember Brittany's comments). The shell was good and she liked that. She loves salsa so she loved that they put a lot on per her request. It also had lettuce, chicken, olives, and sour cream (this is what I see in the pic and remember, there might be other stuff too). She didn't like that it had barely any lettuce on it. Because the bottom of the "shell" wasn't filled with enough lettuce, her extra salsa made the bottom very "soupy" and therefore soggy at the bottom. Not the best, but this didn't make it inedible. It just made it OKAY. The chocolate-chip cookie was devoured. It was soft and HUGE.

I ordered the chicken quesadilla. These are made-to-order. This comes with a side of Mexi-rice and refried beans. It also comes with salsa and sour cream, but I had them hold it. Note the SIZE of this quesadilla. Seriously, I didn't know they made tortillas this big. It was so big. For dessert, I got the chocolate milkshake.

DSCF0414.jpg

Close-up:
DSCF0415.jpg

The mexi-rice was yummy. I love mexican rice so I was excited to get this (it tastes just like the stuff you buy in the bag at the grocery store, but I love that stuff!). I didn't try the refried beans, because I don't like them. But I think they looked overdone? On the quesadilla, it was just okay for me. I think for most people, this would be a good quesadilla. They use real cheese and the chicken is plentiful and tender. HOWEVER, for me personally, I always want more cheese than chicken on my quesadilla. The chicken pieces in here were very large. I didn't want so much chicken. Regardless, I ate a large portion of this! They have Eddy's ice cream, so I got the milkshake, which they mix there for you with real ice cream and milk. Despite this, this milkshake wasn't great. I honestly think it was the person who made it. It had WAY too much milk so it was kind of runny and ended up more chocolate milky. It still hit the stop though, and I thought it was a good dessert for a QS meal.

And that's our one and only Sassagoula Floatworks dinner experience. Like I said, we never planned to eat here. I was glad this was an option, and we had an enjoyable meal. Was it the best ever? No. But we didn't expect it. I would definitely eat here again if we stayed at the resort.

Coming up next... (Another) Sassagoula breakfast and *drumroll* what you and I have been waiting for... the reason for my title... Le Cellier!!!!!!!

For breakfast on our fifth day (Wednesday), we went back to Sassagoula Floatworks in POFQ.

Brittany ordered Mickey waffle with bacon. Her juice was OJ. Her non-alcoholic beverage was milk. I got lazy with this pic so it is horrible.

DSCF0421.jpg

Mickey waffles rock, so we love these. The bacon here was always good (according to Brittany) so no complaints here.

I ordered a Mickey waffle with sausage. My drinks were OJ and bottled water.

DSCF0420.jpg

Again, love the waffles. I also think the sausage links have a good flavor.

Coming up next... LE CELLIER!!!!!

Okay so I wasn't trying to hide it. Lunch at Le Cellier was DA BOMB!!! Sorry to spoil the surprise.

I booked this trip on November 26 of 2008. So with the trip beginning on February 21, I knew I was well into my (then) 180 window. I usually got what I wanted, but I certainly didn't get any PRIMO ressies. (For example, I couldn't get into Crystal Palace before rope drop). I also was unable to get Le Cellier for dinner, which is what we originally wanted. I now know from reading the boards so much that I SHOULD have tried to book this ressie for a party of 3 to up my chance of getting dinner (Le Cellier has very few 2 people tables, and they won't put a party of 2 at a 4+ seater). Regardless, I settled with an 11:40am ADR for lunch.

DSCF0432.jpg

We arrived about 10 minutes before our ressie. Even though no one was in the lobby, they had us wait for about 10 minutes to get our table. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant. Our table was essentially in a little nook that had our table between two four seat tables. Yes, we were inches away from other people's table on either side. In the "real world" this wouldn't be so great for a restaurant experience. But for Disney, I sort of expect it being a party of 2 (as I've discussed before), and less tables = less reservations. Bottom line: I was excited just to be a Le Cellier, close to strangers or not.

Our waitress Meaghan (from British Columbia) came immediately to greet us. She was our age, and she was so cool and nice. She was a fantastic waiter. We never felt neglected, and she always refilled our drinks and cleared our plates.

First she brought out our bread. I know pictures of this bread are all over the DIS but why not one more? Did you know that each of these breads represent a different geographical area of Canada? She explained to us what each bread represented. If you don't know, leftmost stick is a "plain" bread (I don't remember the details of any of these), middle is pretzel bread (and yes this has salt on it and it ROCKS), and rightmost is a "multi-grain" bread.

DSCF0450.jpg

Note: The lighting in here is funky, so there aren't any close-ups. I tried hard, but they were all blurry. The ones I have though, turned out nice.

This is an amazing bread basket. All of the rumors are true, the pretzel bread is delicious. And I don't even like soft pretzels. I still loved this. We split all 3 and devoured them.

For fun, here's the butter-balls. I commented that they looked like the Epcot Ball (Spaceship Earth), and Meaghan laughed and said she never heard that. Really? They look JUST like the Epcot ball, like golf balls?

DSCF0451.jpg

First came appetizers. Brittany ordered the onion soup. Allears.net: Three Onion Soup - garnished with a cheese crouton.

DSCF0454.jpg

Now, I don't eat onion soup (or the French variety for that matter), so I didn't try this. Brittany, however, loved it. She said that it didn't taste like French onion soup, but had a "different" sort of flavor. I think I recall her saying it had a "smokey" taste? She ate the whole bowl.

I ordered the tomato stack. Allears.net: Tomato Stack - with Carmelized Onions, Cucumbers, Crumbled Blue Cheese, and Yuzu Vinaigrette.

DSCF0452.jpg

OH. EM. GEE. You would not think that this would be AMAZING but it is. The bottom tomato is about an inch thick (it's HUGE). Then the top is like a "salad" which is diced up with all the veggies. With the blue cheese and vinaigrette, this is so flavorful! It just has an amazing, savory flavor mixed with the freshness of the veggies and the zing of the cheese. If this is at all appealing to you, order this! You will not be disappointed.

For an entree, Brittany picked the Caesar salad. Now, you may think she's crazy for doing so with all the yummy options. Brittany, however, wasn't in the mood for much food. Hence, the salad. Allears.net: Caesar Salad with Chicken - Romaine lettuce, parmesan, sourdough croutons and a creamy Caesar dressing.

DSCF0455.jpg

Read: This was the BEST Caesar salad she has ever had! I tried this and I have to agree. Chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The dressing was yummy. And the kicker was the croutons. So good!

I ordered the Chicken sandwich (I don't eat red meat so sorry there's not review of any steak at the steakhouse!). Allears.net: Maple Barbecued Grilled Chicken Sandwich- with Black Diamond Cheddar and pancetta (mine was without pancetta).

DSCF0456.jpg

There were a couple sides you could choose from, but I ordered the fries. Okay, this sandwich was so good! The chicken was grilled and had a BBQ sauce on it. However, it wasn't DRIPPING in sauce. It was just enough to add a unique BBQ flavor (this was better BBQ sauce than I've ever had). The chicken was tender, juicy, and so good with the cheddar cheese. Trust me, this cheese was amazing. Even the bread on this sandwich was lightly toasted to bring the whole thing together. Sure it was one of those sandwiches that was bigger than your head, but it didn't "fall apart" on me. I LOVED this sandwich. And the dill pickle was a bonus for me. I love pickles and Brittany and I split this.

Right before dessert, Brittany and I ordered a glass of ice wine to share. Yes, it was $22 a glass (the most expensive wine of the four to choose from, the others being about $17 or so a glass). And this glass is TINY. But that's the whole point of ice wine is that it's precious and EXPENSIVE, but so good.

The label: Meaghan called it Inniskillin (that's also what it said on my receipt).
DSCF0467.jpg

Glass:
DSCF0459.jpg

This wine is GOOD. It's very smooth and VERY sweet so it just goes down so well. PERFECT with dessert (or for dessert!). If you haven't tried ice wine, DO IT! (If you're into that kind of stuff).

For actual dessert, Brittany ordered (big surprise) the chocolate cake. Allears.net: Chocolate on Chocolate Whiskey Cake - finished with Honey-Thyme Anglaise and a Chocolate-Vanilla Walnut Sauce.

DSCF0460.jpg

Once again, this is the "Celebration" dessert so it had a Mickey bonus. Be careful about those Mickey candies. Our waitress told us that they are edible but ROCK HARD. She said you might break a tooth. She was right. I don't know why they put them on there (other than decoration) but it's too hard to chew and doesn't have enough flavor to treat it like hard candy. Just word to the wise if your waitress didn't get the memo. :rolleyes1 I tried this, and it was very rich and chocolatey, with a hint of "other" flavor which I am assuming is the whiskey and such. It was nice and moist. All around a great chocolate cake.

I ordered the S'mores. This is not on Allears (not sure why not), but this is ice cream sandwhiched between two graham cracker "cookie" type things. The "cookies" have a chocolate layer and a toasted marshmellow top. Then, on a big stick, is a sprinkle covered duo of marshmellows (not toasted or anything).

Sorry for poor pic quality.

DSCF0463.jpg

I wasn't in the mood for any other dessert, so I tried this one, because it is a small portion and looked fun on the DIS boards (I was STUFFED after the app & entree). I really liked this. The "cookie" has a chocolate layer which is sort of like ganache and it is so good. This is a unique, fun, and yummy dessert.

Overall, Le Cellier was my favorite meal at Walt Disney World this time around. One reason was because of the amazing food. I also loved the atmosphere and the service. Our waiter was friendly, and the hostesses chatted us up when we arrived, talking about Canada, etc. I loved eating here so much, that I bought a moose pen at the pavillion outside just to remember how much I love Canada at WDW. Seriously, this pavillion is awesome. I LOVE the waterfall and scenery going down to the 360 movie. I love the ICE wine. I love the plaid. I love Canada, eh!

All that is said on the DIS is true. Le Cellier rocks. I can't wait to go back to WDW just to try this for dinner. Heck, I probably will try to fit it in more than once!

Coming up next... Chefs de France

Here's a little "Bonus" post, just for fun.

At the World Showcase, we ordered drinks from France. Left is Grey Goose Lemon Slush (Famous and delicious), Right: Grand Marnier Slushie.

DSCF0478.jpg

Technically I ordered the Grey Goose and Brittany ordered the Grand Marnier, but we shared. IMO, the Grey Goose was better. But needless to say, both went eventually bottoms-up!

Later that evening (around 9), we got margaritas in Mexico. We got these RIGHT before Illuminations and it was very fun to sit and sip these while waiting for the fireworks to begin. You can get these with salt or sugar rim, your choice. The "Fiesta," which I got, is all flavors. I cannot recall what they all are (red one is strawberry, orange one is mango (?). Brittany got just a strawberry.

DSCF0532.jpg

DSCF0533.jpg

Brittany's pic gives you a better idea of the size of these. I loved the Fiesta one, and I enjoyed each flavor. Brittany tried mine, but she was glad she got the all strawberry. I must say I think my favorites were the white and the green (the two flavors I can't remember at this moment).

I really could use one of these right about now! :lovestruc

So glad you loved LeCellier. DH and I were here for the first time last month and we thought it was amazing! So much so that we will be heading back in October for dinner (hopefully!).

Great reviews so far!

Glad to hear you enjoyed LeCellier. I love the Grey Goose slushie, it's one of my favorite drinks in all of the World!
