How deep is the snorkeling water?

How deep is the snorkeling water? I read that you are required to wear a floatation vest. If they make you wear floatation how can you swim under water and check out the fish?

Yes, they do make you wear a snorkeling vest - it is inflatable so, you add the amount of air (or none) in the vest. My dh and ds dove deeper without a problem wearing the vest uninflated while my dd6 and I cruised the surface. I didn't add any either to mine, but my dd6 was comfortable with just a bit.
