Has anyone ever gone on the hot air balloon in DTD? Is there a better time of day to do it?

Has anyone ever gone on the hot air balloon in DTD? Is there a better time of day to do it?

My dh and young adult children loved it! they did it Nov. 2010. Not sure what time of day, but there was hardly anyone else on it. DH says it was about noon time.

Winds can keep the balloon from launching, so don't buy tickets until you're ready to board.

Minor point (maybe major, if you or your child is fearful of fire and flames)

"Characters in Flight" is not a "hot air" balloon.
"Hot air" balloons require the use of a very intense (and loud, in-use) gas-jet open flame to super-heat the air that fills the inside the balloon bag... to generate the lift of the carriage.

"Characters in Flight" is a "lighter-than-air-gas" type balloon.
It's bag is filled with a cool non-flammable gas that "rises" in the normal atmosphere.

No flames, no extra heat, no noise.

I did it last october in the morning. Was a bit worried as I'm not a fan of heights but I had talked myself into it (DH REFUSED) Looking at it from the ground it did look that it was swaying quite a bit but trust me it did not feel like it when you were up there. The only bumpy bit was when we landed and even then it was nothing more than a slight jolt.

Like everyone has said great views from up there. It really shows how spread out WDW is. I have however seen this closed for a large part of my trip due to winds so it is not always in operation. They also limited the group to 6 people as it was windy on my trip but not enough to stop the balloon from going up.

Its on my list for this years trip and I might have to drag DH kicking and screaming onto it. The view is worth it.

I would love to do it at night to see the fireworks but if it was going up then it was crowded with people who wanted to do it for the same reason.

We did Characters in Flight in November of 2010. We did it around 10:00 in the morning, and it was a clear, perfect day. I do not like heights, and I really enjoyed it.
