Hello. I just wanted to ask for anyone who has experiences doing the holiday sleigh ride at Fort Wilderness. How was it? Is it better when it's fully dark? I was thinking of doing it at 5/5:30pm but it will be just around sunset at that time.

It's so fun to see all the decorations that guests put up. They go all out! I would go closer to 5:30/6 if you can. Sunset is around 5:30ish in December, but it gets dark pretty fast after that.
It is really cool!

Thank you!! It sounds like a pretty nice experience :) Would you know if i can take a taxi from fort wilderness to the boardwalk?

I want to say I have seen taxis waiting at FW, like other resorts, at the Outpost, but it has been a while since I last stayed at FW. You will need to take one of the three internal buses from the Settlement to the Outpost. If you want, you could also take a bus from the Settlement to the Wilderness Lodge to get a taxi.

Thanks for the info! :)

You meet near Pioneer Hall, which is actually closer to the boat launch than the entrance to FW. So perhaps take the boat back and forth from either MK or WL, and then take Uber from there. The internal bus is just a PITA imho!

We're staying at CR but am considering this on the night we want to try flying fish so I'm trying to figure out the logistics. Might just take the boat back and forth from CR and uber from there if ever. Thanks again! :)

Yes, that would easily work! Have a great time! Love Flying Fish as well!

We loved it, December 2014. The guests go all out with their decorations. You meet in between Pioneer Hall & the playground. It books quick, I believe 180D. I had to go with a different time, but it ended up working better, later time, so it was dark. It was cold that night, blankets provided. A really AWESOME experience. Highly recommended! :santa:
