January 9th 2007: Part III

After our memorable cruise with Rhonda, we enjoyed the Tiki Birds and headed back over to Pirates to check on the wait time. It said 25 minutes still, but this time the line wasn’t going out the doors. So we decided to chance it! Turned out the wait was only about 10 minutes and we hopped right on. As usual, there was one guy in the boat that would not listen to the ‘no flash photography’ rule. We tried to ignore him and enjoy the ride. We checked out the gift shop, since Joe and I needed Pirate t-shirts for Pirate Night on our upcoming cruise. pirate: We both found ones we liked, but nothing in our sizes. Since we new we would be back at the Magic Kingdom later that week, we decided to wait before making a final decision.

Up next was Mickey’s Philharmagic and then off to Toontown to tour Mickey and Minnie’s houses. We flew through these pretty quick, mainly because the houses were overrun with people!! They must have been violating some kind of fire code!:firefight

We strolled up the ‘secret walkway’ to Tomorrowland. It was very nice and peaceful! We only passed about two other people the entire walk. I highly recommend it if you are looking for someplace to relax away from the hustle and bustle for a bit. There was plenty of trees for shade and plenty of benches too!

In Tomorrowland, we hopped onto the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, and rode around twice. I love this classic ride. It is so nice to just hop on and stay there for a turn or two and watch the scenery go by.

By now, it was about 2:30pm or so. We knew we wanted to catch the parade, but no one could really make a decision on what was going on, so we split up for a while. Joe and I just sat for a bit, and then ended up watching the parade from Main Street.

We met back up with Jen and Dan near the Camera/Photo Store. Joe needed more batteries and I enjoyed a nice Mickey Shaped Ice Cream (I think Joe had some kind of boring ice cream, too!). We made our way back up Main Street by shopping and headed over to the Carousel of Progress, a MUST DO for Joe.

We all needed a little bit more nourishment. So Jen and Dan got some popcorn in one of those really cool collectable containers, and Joe and I got a yummy spicy cheesy pretzel (the CM who took our order also gave us a free coke as wedding gift!!).

We then headed to the carousel, which is something I love to do at any amusement park, but it is even better here!!

As we were getting off of the carousel, we saw a dream coming true. A little girl got picked to ride on Cinderella’s horse on the carousel (the one with the gold ribbon on the tail, for those of you who may not have known). They announced it to everyone in the ride queue, and she got a certificate. We were just walking away, as they were taking her to her horse.

Next time on ‘His and Hers Trip Report for the Ages’: Dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table and was that the Kiss Goodnight?

This was the first time I got to check out the new Pirates, and I thought they did a really good job on it! I was a little afraid that they'd make alot of changes, and ruin the feel of the attraction. I was delighted to see that it has pretty much remained the same, except for a few spots where they added in the characters from the movies. All in all I loved it!

I'm a big fan of the TTA too, a nice, relaxing ride around Tommorwland. I'd never seen a daytime parade before either, and it was pretty cool. I got alot of pics, which is why I needed to buy some more batteries! Speaking of which, if anyone is curious as to whether or not the $15 Lithium batteries that they sell there are worth it....they totally are! They actually lasted me the rest of the week, I got about 400 photos on them, about 1/2 with flash, and they're still going strong.

COP rules, I hope they never change it.

I wish we had a picture of that pretzel, that was wicked delicious.

Thanks for the congratulations luvfigment! One month today and going strong!:goodvibes

buf68: I don't blame you! I just got back and I am dying to plan another trip already!!

Dan and I watched the parade from Main Street as well but right in front of the Camera/photo store. There weren't many people there which was nice and we got a good seat on the street and were able to watch the parade go around the center before heading backstage next to the Fire Station. Good location for daytime parade.

I still can't get over how many people actually go to the PoTC ride now that the movies have been so popular. Remember when you could walk on any time any day? Ah, those were the days.

Fellow Massachusetts resident! enjoying your report, always love looking at others vacation photos so i can pretend i am there instead of the 8 degree weather we have now.:lmao:

Glad everyone is enjoying it! I have one more installment coming up for today, in just a little bit!

And soxnation: I would do anything for it to be just a LITTLE bit warmer!! BRRRR! Oh. . and Jennifer48 is going to love your screenname (as you can tell by her avatar!)!!

January 9th 2007: Part IV

It was starting to get dark and a quite a bit colder, so we didn’t do too much except poke around. We stopped in the Christmas Store in Liberty Square, took a quick turn around Aladdin’s Magic Carpets, and popped back into the Pirates store to see if they had put out anymore shirts.

It was about 7:15pm or so, so we decided to split up again. Joe and I were headed to Cinderella’s Royal Table for a 7:40pm reservation, and Jen and Dan were going in search of some dinner, and finding a good spot for Wishes.

Joe and I made our way around the castle, stopping to take a few more photos of it all lit up at night.

The area behind the carousel was blocked off (I think it has something to do with the fireworks) so we had to ask to be let in to get to Cinderella’s Royal Table.

We checked in quickly and were sent into the seating area to wait and have our picture taken with Cinderella.

After a short wait, we were taken upstairs to be seated. We weren’t lucky enough to be seated by the windows, like I had hoped, but you still won’t hear any complaints from me. Sayid was our waiter, and he was just terrific. He was very attentive and helpful. They dimmed the lights in the dining room during Wishes, and we could see a lot of the fireworks though the beautiful windows at the back of the castle. It was very magical, and rather romantic.

We enjoyed our dinner very much. For appetizers: I had the corn and crab soup and Joe had the BLT salad. For Entrees: I had the Grilled Pork Tenderloin, and Joe had the Spice Rubbed Chicken. For Dessert: I had the Chocolate Mousse Cake and Joe had the Blueberry Buckle.

Sayid presented us with champagne toasting glasses that with “Cinderella’s Royal Table” etched on them. He also was kind enough to let us keep a copy of the menu as a souvenir. (We had asked to see one at the end of the meal to take a picture to remember it- and he insisted that we keep it!)

As we were heading out of Cindy’s, I stopped to ask if they might have a bag I could carry the glasses in. While they were looking for one, an adorable little girl all dressed in her princess attire ran up to Joe and said “Happy Marriage!!” before quickly running back to her parents! She was just too cute, and it was one of the sweetest moments of the trip.

We slowly made our way out of the park, taking plenty of pictures. It was wonderful to practically have the park all to ourselves. About halfway down Main Street, it happened. . . .The elusive ‘Kiss Goodnight’. I had never been in the park long enough to hear it. The projections on the castle were beautiful, as was the little message thanking everyone for spending their magical day there.

With warm hearts and cold bodies, we finally left, catching the very last boat back to the Wilderness Lodge. I think we didn’t even speak to each other much that boat ride. Just sat there, holding hands, content with thinking about what a magical wonderful day we had just had. And people wonder why we keep going back so often!

After we got back to the Lodge, we met up with Jen and Dan for some nice warm Jacuzzi time. We recounted what had happened after we parted ways. Finally, we had to say our goodbyes. Jen and Dan would be sleeping in tomorrow, before heading back to the airport to go home, and we had a date with Epcot. After hugs, as we walked away with thoughts of nice warm beds in our minds, I couldn’t help but think ‘I guess this means that the wedding really is over, and now it is just Joe and I’.

I really like having dinner at Cindy's. It's all about the ambiance....and the pretzel bread. Let the record show that it was me who actually ordered the crab and corn chowder, but once they brought it out and Kim saw how delicious it looked, she began working out a trade! The rest of the meal was really good, and I really liked the blueberry buckle. It was kinda like a big blueberry muffin, with some cheese danish stuff in it, with sorbet on top....drool....

The icing on that buckle was the little girl though....how cute was she!

It was almost eerie being in the park when it was that empty. Nonetheless, we took out time heading out...what's the rush? We had almost the whole place to ourselves! The jacuzzi was just what the doctor ordered after a long day at the MK. After we said goodbye to Jen and Dan, it was off to bed to rest up for a long day at my favoritest of the parks, Epcot.

What a sad goodbye THAT was! Not only were we saying bye to our newlywed friends but we were saying good bye to Disney! It was horrible! Although I did enjoy all that time that I got to spend with my friends immensely!

I am really enjoying your report. I cannot wait until the day when I have kids and get to take them to the world... Even if they are cranky, it is still magical.. I cannot wait to hear more about your trip.
