HIS and HERS trip report for the ages: Disneymoon 1/8/07-1/13/07- Completed!!!

Wednesday January 10th 2007: Part I

We decided not to push our luck too much and sleep in. Well, sleep in as much as you can when at Disney. The alarm went off at 8:00am, and after Joe retrieved some coffee for us, we were ready to go by about 9:00am or so.

We made it to the park before 9:30am and headed right to Soarin to pick up some fastpasses. While I was getting the passes, a little girl walked up to Joe and handed him two fastpasses that were good right away!!! I don’t know what it is about Joe and the cute little girls! Apparently they love him!!

We hopped right into the Fastpass Line to ride. We had to wait a few minutes once we got closer to the loading area, but passed the time chatting with another cute little girl in a princess dress. She noticed our buttons, and asked what they were for, and then told us all about the “1st trip” button that she was wearing. She also told us that she got to go on Safari the day before and save all the elephants! She was just precious.

After Soarin, we shared some breakfast at the Seasons because we both were starving. We considered going on The Land, but it had a 20 minute wait, and I had heard already that they changed it a bit, and there was no longer a CM with you, it was just a recording. So we hopped right back into the fastpass line and rode Soarin one more time!

We headed over to the Living Seas, because Joe loves this area, and was dying to try the new Nemo ride. I liked it a lot. The song was very catchy, and the effects of Nemo swimming in the large tank were very cool. We got kind of spoiled though, because a dolphin was swimming right in front of the window at the end of the ride with Nemo, so that kind of upped the coolness factor. We didn’t spend much more time in the Living Seas, because it was absolutely mobbed with people in line for Turtle talk with Crush.

We headed over to ride Figment, and send Jen and Dan a silly photo from the kiosks at the end. We rode all alone in our 4 car section, which was kind of eerie.

On the way out we were stopped and chatted with one of the CM’s at the photo station (the one with the really big camera, and they take your picture, and you are up on all of the monitors). He took our photo and printed it out for us. We then went to make our own silly photo for Jen and Dan.

We then headed toward Test Track for some Fastpasses to use later. I stopped and waited on a bench near Mouse Gears, and started chatting with another lovely CM. She gave me some fastpasses to use on Mission Space later! We then took a ride through time on Spaceship Earth, another one of Joe’s favorites.

Next time on ‘His and Hers Trip Report for the Ages’: Characters and Countries, does it get much better than this?

Epcot is a day that I don't mind waking up early for. Actually, it's really hard to see it all in just one day. I think in our future trips, we might try to divide it up to Futureworld one day, and te World Showcase the next. I love spending time in the World Showcase, but it always feels like we have to rush to take it all in before Illuminations, and we end up breezing over some countries. It was really cool of that little girl to give us the fastpasses for Soarin'....I love Soarin', and I was so happy that we got to do it twice! Big props to Disney on the new Living Seas attraction. This was another ride that I was a little nervous about, since I liked the old one so much (something to do with a cuttlefish....long story.) Anyways, I was blown away but the new queue line, they did a fantastic job on it....I was pretty excited about the ride at that point, and it did not disappoint!

Call me corny, but Spaceship Earth is one of my favorite rides.

Wednesday January 10th 2007: Part II

We had 1:00pm reservations for lunch at Rose & Crown, and it was only about 12:00pm or so. I suggested that we peek into the Character Connection and check it out. If there wasn’t much of a line, we would meet the characters, if there was, we would just skip it. We were in luck today, since there was only one other family ahead of us! So we stayed to meet Mickey, Pluto, Minnie, Chip and Dale, and Goofy, all decked out in their ‘Year of a Million Dreams’ blue attire!

We headed over to Rose and Crown to check in, and were seated after just a couple of minutes. It was our first time ever at this restaurant and we were very happy with our lunch. Sam was our server, and he did an excellent job. Joe had a glass of Boddingtons’s Beer, and I had an English Rose. We had the Fruit and Cheese plate for an appetizer. For entrees: I had the Cottage Pie (can you say ‘YUMMY!!’) and Joe had the Chicken Pastry.

A little girl just a few tables away got a magical moment. The chef came out and declared her assistant chef, and then had her help him make a dessert-which she got to eat!

As we were leaving, we got a magical moment of our own. Sam presented us with a certificate signed by all of the staff working that day saying congratulations!

We goofed around in England for a while, being silly in the phone booths, and picked up a Rose and Crown T-shirt for only $7.

We then slowly started making our way around the world showcase, poking around and enjoying the low crowds. One of the photopass photographers that we saw gave us a tip. Apparently, Disney will do a ‘Honeymoon Photo Shoot” for a fee in any park that you wish. He gave us a card, so with little hope, we called. Well, it must have been our lucky day, because they had time to fit us in Friday morning. After the exchange of credit card info, we were all set to meet a photographer at the Rose Garden in the Magic Kingdom on Friday! Woo-hoo!!

Next time on ‘His and Hers Trip Report for the Ages’: Some Magic that we never would have expected!

I highly recommend the Rose and Crown to anyone...it was really good. We had a cheese plate for an appetizer. It had this rank looking green cheese on it. Sam assured us that it was just a sage cheddar.....it was soooo good! I wish I could find it in the stores around here! The Boddington's was pretty good too...That's something else I have to keep my eyes open for.

Your Photopass pictures came out so well. Maybe it was the "newlywed glow" :lmao: . Anywho, they still are great. :goodvibes

Congratulations! I've really enjoyed your trip so far - it sounds like you had a wonderful time!

YEAH!!!!! 10 more days!!!!   Go SOXS!!!!

Yes - Go SOX!! I miss my team very much. We now live in TX and can't get the Sox on TV (except if nationally televised). Hate to say it, but it is only 75 degrees today. I don't miss those cold days though.

Trully loving the report. It brings back memories our our Disneymoon. Back then (nine years ago), they did not have buttons to wear. I just love hearing about the little girls dressed up as a princesses and giving fast passes or wishing "Happy Marriage". It is absolutely adorable. Very special and magical.

Keep it coming....

Love the pictures. I wish we had more photopass pics from our mother daughter trip in august but we were all just way too hot to want that look put in print. Keep the report coming it is my treat to read while i am at work. :)

I haven't read your whole TR yet, but I wanted to say Congrats :goodvibes I love your wedding pictures, beautiful! I also love how you have your DH adding comments too. Very neat! My DF would never do that :sad2:

Thanks everybody for all the well wishes! I am so glad that you all are enjoying the report!! New Installment COMING RIGHT UP!!:goodvibes

Wednesday January 10th 2007: Part III

We started to head to the American Adventure, because I really wanted to see the Voices of Liberty. I remember seeing them back in 2000 when I took a day trip with my grandmother to Epcot. They were just great, and I was hoping to catch them again this trip.

As we arrived in America, there was a drum corp type show going on outside. We stopped and watched and sand along to God Bless America before heading into the American Adventure.

Joe got pulled aside by one of the CM’s who asked if we were going to be staying for the show. He of course answered yes, and she asked us to come with her.

I couldn’t believe it. I wasn’t sure. But I had a feeling something magical was about to happen.

She took us over to a secret doorway, behind which was an elevator. We got in went up to the top level of the Rotunda. We were then taken to seats placed right along the railway with signs saying “reserved for the First Family” on them. We sat and waited practically alone on the upper level, and after about 3 minutes, the Voices of Liberty came out to sing, and were facing us, directly below. They sounded beautiful. I even got a little teary eyed it was so nice. Especially during their rendition of ‘A dream is a wish your heart makes’ (which was the song that I had chosen for the father/daughter dance at our wedding a few days earlier).

After the Voices of Liberty finished, we were escorted inside the American Adventure. The CM explained to us that we had been picked as the First Family (and handed us a Magical Moments Certificate) and what was about to happen. We could walk around and take as many pictures as we wanted and then we were to pick whatever seat we wished (we took the very back row, dead center- great view!).

After all the other guests arrived (it was actually a pretty full show), the CM started the introduction to the show. She explained to everyone: “We are lucky to have the opportunity to thank families for coming to see our show, and today our First Family is the Burkes from the great state of Massachusetts, and they are newlyweds.” Joe and I stood up and waved just like we were asked to, and everyone clapped.

We left the show feeling very RED, WHITE, and BLUE. I know that the American Adventure will now hold a new special place in our hearts. I even picked up a trading pin later in the day to commemorate the event.

Next time on ‘His and Hers Trip Report for the Ages’: Dinner and the best Illuminations EVER!

The magical moment at the American Adventure was awesome! We had the best seats in the house. I felt even more like royalty than I usually do (hehehe, just kidding). The Voices of Liberty were amazing too. What talent. The show afterwards was good too. I'd never seen it, nor the Voices of Liberty, but I was sure glad that we had picked that day and time to go!

I've never seen the Voices of Liberty before. Now I'll have to make it a point to stop in and hear them sing!
