HIS and HERS trip report for the ages: Disneymoon 1/8/07-1/13/07- Completed!!!

Wishes on a bad day is still better than no Wishes at all! ....

That is the truth!!! Wishes is absolutely the best! My DS (almost 2) sings the Wishes song along with the CD from his carseat. It is so cute.

Great report! DH and I also had our Honeymoon in Disney (after 9 years still coming back). What a magical place to celebrate your marriage. Congrats and wishing you many more years of Disney trips.... pixiedust:
Thank you for sharing.

I have to admit, I wasn't really sure what to expect at the Whispering Canyon.....for some reason I had pictured it differently in my mind. It was pretty cool though, definitely a "can't miss."

Thanks for the suggestion!! I think I am going to make a ADR!!!

Tuesday January 9th 2007: Part I

Joe and I set the alarm on my cell phone for a shockingly early 6:45am. So at exactly 6:45am the room filled with ZIP-A-DEE-DO-DAH (one of my Disney Ring tones!) at an annoyingly loud volume.

How come when my cell phone actually rings with a call it isn’t that loud?

We didn’t exactly jump out of bed unfortunately. I turned on the light, but other than that, we stayed comatose right were we lay. Once I could finally drag my arm out enough to reach the remote, I put on the weather channel so that we would know how to dress for our day. After record warm temperatures at my parents house for the past week and weekend, we were getting some cold weather for the next couple of days.

We finally got out of bed at 7:15am, and rushed around to meet Jen and Dan out front of the Roaring Fork at 7:45am. We didn’t buffer in time for breakfast, so I looked longingly at all the yummy pancakes as Joe dragged me away to go to the boat dock. (I think I am the only one of the three of us that really can eat breakfast in the morning. Joe, Jen, and Dan all need a little more time of being awake before putting some food in their system. However, I could already hear that rumble! Where are mini donuts when you need them!?!?!)

We headed out to the boat dock and stood there chilly for a few minutes before the Blue Flag boat arrived. We hopped on and it was a quick ride over to the Contemporary.

We went up the escalators and headed to the monorail station. It was just a short wait before the monorail pulled in. As we were getting onboard, I noticed that no one was sitting up front. Seeing a great opportunity, I asked if we could ride up front. The CM and driver said yes, as long as there were only 4 of us. So we took our seats in the front and enjoyed a nice long ride around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

We made it to the Magic Kingdom in plenty of time and were standing in front of the train station by 8:35am. Surprisingly, we weren’t the only ones there. There were quite a few people already waiting at the ropes. One CM was walking around handing out pixie dust to throw when Mickey opened the park. Jen and I happily took some, and assumed the position- ready to throw (That is, after we tucked a few away in our pockets for souvenirs!). The opening ceremony did not disappoint. I love this particular opening. It really gets you in the mood for a magical day in the Magic Kingdom! This time there was the addition of a few characters I had never seen during opening before: Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow.

We headed into the park and up Main Street. It felt like someone congratulated Joe and me about every 5 feet, and within the hour we were saying” Thank you” in unison. It was really nice that so many people took the time to notice! We took a few photos in front of the castle and in the rose garden before heading to Tomorrowland.

Next time on ‘His and Hers Trip Report for the Ages’: Why is the wait for Pirates so long? and a Jungle Cruise to remember!

Ugh....6:45 comes way too early when you're on vacation! ....and zip-a-dee-do-dah only served as a cruel reminder that Splash Mountain was going to be closed for refurb while we were there! Oh well, that just gives us another reason to go back...as if we needed one! In all seriousness, I was pretty excited to get going on Tuesday. I was looking forward to the boat ride over to the Contemporary. I've always wanted to stay there, but I'd never seen the inside of it.....now I want to stay there even more!

I loved all the congratulations that the misses and I were getting, it was so nice! Truthfully, I wasn't expecting to hear more than a few remarks from some cast members, but the park guests were all about congratulating us too!

Ok so we live in MA and in January, its cold. We were down in FL now (Dan and I) for a few days basking in the wonderful Floridian sun and warmth. The ONE DAY we have to go to Disney, its COLD! So not fair. That one cold front that has hit down there and we had to be at the Magic Kingdom for. Oh well. At least I was at Disney with my bestest friends!

Great report. I am sitting here looking at your pictures thinking how familiar you and Jennifer look. I kept thinking do I know you? Then, I realized you did a girls trip before with a report, right? With Jennifer and another girl? Or, am I crazy?

Jennifer I'm so jealous of you getting to be there and enjoy it with them, I've always wanted to do a trip with some of our friends, but I just can never get the courage to leave behind my dd she'd be crushed

My hubby would never write on my tr... and if he did it would go something like this:

You scared me there for a minute. I was like "I don't know a David or his mommy!" :rotfl2: Good memory! :goodvibes

Thank you. I was very lucky to be able to not only be in Kimberly's wedding, but to also share her first honeymoon day with her as well. Of course I couldn't stay the WHOLE week (although I almost stayed one other day!) because that just wouldn't be a honeymoon now would it?! :rotfl:

Tuesday January 9th 2007: Part II

Space Mountain was first on our list and turned out to be our longest wait all day. The standby time SAID 5 minutes, but once we got closer we realized that they were only running on track, and it took about 15 minutes to get on the ride.

Next was Buzz Light-year and it was Joe and I versus Jen and Dan. Joe was in charge of driving our spaceship and he was TERRIBLE at it!! Instead of moving his gun to point at targets, he would jerk the joystick so that the whole spaceship would move- RUINING ALL MY SHOTS!! He did manage to beat all three of us!!

Next we headed to Fantasyland. Winnie the Pooh was having technical difficulties at the time, so we skipped it for now, and actually never ended up making it back to ride for the rest of the week. We hit Snow White, Peter Pan, It’s a Small World and the Haunted Mansion very quickly, as they all had 5 minute wait times. The CM at the gate of the Haunted Mansion had a different sort of comment for our ‘Just Married’ buttons.

CM, in usual depressed Haunted Mansion tone: “Just married?”
Us: “Yes, on Sunday.”
CM: “Oh, that’s just terrible. My condolences.” :rotfl2:

Big Thunder Mountain was on our minds, and it only had about a 10 minutes wait. We headed over to Pirates of the Caribbean next, and were shocked by the 25 minute wait time posted. The line was actually coming out the doors!! We decided we would skip it for now and come back later to see if the wait time had changed at all.

Finally, the stomachs of my three companions finally caught up with mine, and we decided that we were all starving! (I was about ready to faint!) So we picked up some Fastpasses for Jungle cruise (Not that we thought we would need them, but hey, we were in the neighborhood) and headed to Pecos Bills for lunch. Lunch was quite good and leisurely; we all enjoyed our burgers and fries.

Next up was the Jungle Cruise since our Fastpass time had already arrived. Thank goodness we decided to pick up those Fastpasses, because upon returning to the ride, the wait time was an astonishing 40 minutes!! We hopped in the Fastpass line and were onboard in less than 10 minutes!

As Joe and I were stepping onboard, the CM informed us that we were lucky: People who rode the Jungle Cruise right after getting married always have nine children!!! Oh good! Lucky us!! I don't know if I can handle that!

Rhonda from Detroit was our guide, and she was just great! The CM’s really make or break this particular ride in my opinion. Upon getting onboard, she comments on how lucky I was that my new husband took me on a cruise for our honeymoon.

I love this ride, and have most of the jokes memorized by heart- mainly because I always think of my Dad and his cheesy puns when on it. I accidentally stole Rhonda’s thunder at one point. It was the joke where the chief is having a sale- on of your head for two of his, and no matter what you will come out . . . . A head. Well, I kind of couldn’t help my self, and muttered the “a head” part to Joe. Rhonda heard me and said “Did you seriously just steal my punch line. Come on now. Do you have any idea how hard it is to tell these jokes 500 times a day?”

Rhonda even let one of the kids on board drive the boat. She kept us entertained while we waited to dock and get out (we were behind the handicap accessible boat, and they were loading it, so it took a few minutes). She even “consulted her notes” to think of something to ask us- Where are we from? She was probably the best Jungle Cruise Skipper we have ever had!

I just found out, you can also see Rhonda at CareerBuilder.com in the Disney Dream Job section! She is the one in the video for the Jungle Cruise! Go Rhonda!! I told you she was awesome!!

I stand by my Buzz Lightyear technique! I am the chosen one! Farewell my friends, I move on to a better place. Sorry, I was just thinking back....

The cm's on the Jungle Cruise really do make all the difference. Usually, I could skip it, but Rhonda was pretty great, and she seemed that she really, really enjoyed being a skipper. It was pretty cool how she let the kid drive the boat at one point too, and she even gave some Maple Leafs fans a hard time! Since she was from D-town, I can only imagine that she's a Wings fan, like myself.

Hey I'm the one that pointed that out! I went looking for my Dream Disney Job and watched the video. I knew it was her! She was awesome!:woohoo: :dance3:

Sorry. . I thought I typed "I just found out from Jennifer".:confused3
