We are hoping to go to Aulani in July, assuming there is availability and airfare from the east coast wont kill us, but could someone give a quick run down on the different room type or direct to a previous thread? We are a family of 5 but do not want a horrible view but not need the best either. We usually stay in 2 bedrooms but don't mind the 1 bedroom since it is equipped for 5. Which view is worth the points? We have 294 points coming in December and believe I can borrow 150 from the 2106 however this would effect future Orlando trips. What is the best use of points on these rooms? Also, we would like to take to visit another island. Perhaps that is another post altogether but please feel free to share your experience. Thank you!

I found this thread:
http://www.disboards.com/threads/aulani-villas-views-updated-09-26-2015.2907389/
to be wonderful in choosing a view. The thread has links to pictures for rooms in the various categories so you will get a really good sense of what you are booking. Ocean views are worth it to us but many people feel that they do not spend enough time in the room to warrant using the extra points. Good luck! Aulani is heavenly!

The Aulani Villas & View thread has a layout of the DVC villas. There are four view categories at Aulani and since views and point costs are so subjective, its difficult to say that one view is better than another. Many Aulani guests have posted photos of their views on the thread, so you can look at the photos and judge for yourself what works best for you.

I'm assuming that you will be booking at the seven-month window. Fortunately, there should be a good selection of one-berooms still available in all the categories, except perhaps the Standard View category. Many people like booking the Island View category because there is a chance for a decent view of the ocean from some of the villas in that category. Personally, I prefer having a villa that overlooks Aulani's Waikolohe Valley, the name of the area that is home to Aulani's main pool and lazy river. However, the only villa types that overlook the Waikolohe Valley are Ocean View and Pool View.
