Please help. We are new DVC members but have went to WDW 3 times the past year as non-members. We have 2 little ones 7 and 5 and our whole family loves WDW. But I am getting very sick of people saying, "you guys are going to WDW again". I try to be diplomatic and nice and try to explain , but its no use. I need more ammo.

Please Help (and let me know if any of you guys have the same problem too).

Scott

I just smile and say "Yes...When was the last time you went??? Oh...I see..."

"There is so much to do there (you could add this but I don't have kids) and the kids think we are the best parents in the world everytime we go...At least they won't complain when they are older that we never went anywhere fun..."

Oh...You say you have not been in years...I guess the secret is still safe then..." :p and let them wonder.

Or just reply...Yes!!! and walk away...No explanation needed.

I just say, "Yes I am" and leave it at that.
You don't have to explain where you spend your money to other people. My sister goes to Vegas every year. I don't question her decision. She loves it there.

If it were me, I would truly react of joy, and say, "Woo hoo! YES we are, I am soo excited!" and then that's it. You do not have to explain to anyone why you and your family are vacationing there, because some people truly do not understand the Disney fascination. Everyone has their own ideas of what their dream vacations are, and ours just happen be Disney! (Who knows, they may ask that and be really jealous because they want to go that many times in a year if they could!) Alas, I do not have them same problem, I sure wish I did!! Have a great time!

I get this EVERY TIME we go to Disney which is usually once a year. We're trying to go on 2 major trips a year (one to Disney and one somewhere new), but we still get the rolling of eyes from friends/family. I used to try and explain why we're going back (ie. this time we're going to Universal too, etc....), but I've learned there is no possible justification for these people! Just smile and say, "yes" and leave it at that. I'm hoping this will get easier with time!! Good luck!

We get the "you are going again?" thing all the time - at first I tried to explain- now I just say "YES!" and move on.

By the way, my DH has also asked the same question and he gets the same answer.

My husband and I first went after our wedding in 1995. We lived close to his parents and when they heard we were going for 7 days they could not believe he was taking me for that long. What could you do for that long ? Then we just took our first family vacation in 8 1/2 years !! Our girls are 5 and 6 and we spent 10 nights at the Poly !! We caused family members to loose sleep over this. How could you have spent so much money (We never told them how much we spent) and for so long. They said "Well you don't need to go there for a while, I guess you got your fill of Mickey !" How rude ! So negative they are, it just kills me. Because it is something they would not do they have to bash it. My husband handles it better than I do. I have a hard time with it. I call them the "Nattering Naybobs of Negativity"

How about "It's clean, safe, and fun for the entire family?"

I'll bet that every person who posts here has gotten that question at one time or another! LOL!

My coworkers think it's weird, but I tell them that I can do anything on vacation at WDW that I can do just about anywhere else, except gamble. (I wouldn't mind throwing a Las Vegas trip somewhere in my future....I've never been!)

Still, when it comes time for my coworkers to plan for their vacations to WDW.....guess whom they ask for advice? :smooth:

It did get worse when I bought DVC, but the question doesn't bother me anymore. :teeth:

We're leaving on Aug. 21 for yet another trip. We gave our DDs (20 and 17) a choice of vacation destinations and they chose WDW. This will be their fourth trip, my sixth and DH's fifth. I have responded to the "Again"??? comments with a simple fact - every time we go it is a different trip because of the ages of the DDs. What will I tell them when DH and I go ourselves? Anyway, we can't wait to go again with our kids. We must have raised them right, they love WDW::)

I got that all the time before our last trip. I was also told repeatedly that 3 was too young. HA! 2 of my coworkers just paid me some money to plan their trips this fall. That $250 just went into my Disney fund.

I get this all the time too. People either "get it" or the don't !! It's that simple. If you're not a Disney person you don't get it and you probably never will, but that's OK!!! Because we DO!! We've been twice this year and working on trip #3!!!:Pinkbounc

We always get that...and we only go every two years.
People can't believe we went to WDW on our Honeymoon...I still think the majority of people think WDW is MK and that's it....until they go. I have a friend who finally went with her two daughters and could not stop talking about it and how much there was to do!
We're not even planning on spending that much time in the parks this trip

These are the same people who go to the beach for a week or two every year. I love the beach, too, but Orlando does have a lot more things to do than the beach!

Of course even my DH doesn't understand me going back to WDW often.

I just say "Absolutely I'm going again. You go to Myrtle Beach every year, well we go to DW every year. Same diff"

or I'll say "Well, judging by all the disney stuff in my cube, safe to say it's the one place I'll be going to."

I also think its funny that the same people who comment, "you're going again?" are the same people who year in and year out go to the shore for a vacation week in the summer. And they go to the SAME shore spot every year too! The two vacations really cost about the same if you are going down to the NJ shore or DE beaches for a week in the summer. I never ask these people, "you're going to the shore again?" Actually lots of times I have had people ask me, "how can you afford to go to WDW so often?" They are always surprised when I tell them it cost about the same as the week at the shore and in my book WDW is alot more fun!! Yes, we also spend a week down at the beach in June and a long weekend at the Jersey shore this summer and enjoyed ourselves but not as much as a trip to WDW!!!

I always answer "YEP!" with a big smile. I often say "I'm a Disney freak and proud of it!" For the most part, people just don't say anything anymore, cuz they know I'm going do WDW! I have actually "converted" some unbelievers, so now I have friends who love Disney too! I agree with previous posters that you really do not need to offer any explanation to anyone on how and where you spend your vacation. It's your business. So, just say, "Yep" and leave it at that. If they don't get it, it's their problem.

I think I'm going to really be in trouble, mainly with the our parents because we're buying into the DVC!! (Not sure when we'll ever get around to telling them.) My mom always thinks the money should go to something for the house, like an inground pool or to pay off a bill. I say, the bills will always be there--they are always paid on time and you never know when something may happen to someone you love and wish you would have done this or have done that! I just feel bad because my mom never really had vacations growing up and even as a kid we never really took many vacations. I would love to take her with us just once so she could see. Maybe that should be my strategy...take her down next year and then break the news!!!
