I do so well during the week but I totally fell apart this weekend. :(

I am feeling so discouraged. I worked so hard this past 2 weeks to lose 12 pounds and I know i've gained a lot of it back.

Lord knows I keep busy, but I just can't seem to stay on track on the weekends.

Any tips would be appreciated.

On the weekend, whenever you feel the urge to go into your kitchen and eat anything.......instead turn on your kitchen timer for 15 minutes.and drink a bottle of water while waiting. If when the timer goes off you are still feeling the urge to eat, you are truly hungry, so EAT!

:)

Have Faith!!

It will work!

Thanks John that's a great idea :)

So, how was your weigh-in tonight?? Are you going to be the first to receive the 20 Pound clipart?

Well.................................................................

When I weighed this morning, the result was a total so far of NINETEEN POUNDS! , but later this evening, it was 18..........so I guess I am close....but no cigar!!!

Still have not varied from the Atkins plan at all, and that fact alone is amazing me..........as my willpower is not my strong-suit.

Even though you had a rough weekend, the progress you have made is AMAZING!

This board has been such a HUGE inspiration to so many!

I have to echo what John has said above. You have done a wonderful job of pulling folks together for a common goal, thank you.

I find weekends are harder because DH and DS are around and they want to eat or go out to a restaurant or ice cream or something and it is very difficult to have will power when they are feeding their faces. I had a difficult day yesterday because we did go out for lunch after church and then we went to a party and I felt like I blew it, but apparently I didn't because when I got on the scale I lost another pound over the weekend. The whole day when I was eating I was thinking to myself, do I really want this food or am I eating it for another reason. I didn't eat as much as I normally would, but I allowed myself several tastes because I determined I really wanted it. I did make some good choices too, but one mess up obviously didn't sabotage everything.

John has a good idea, but I find sometimes it is hard to put it into practice because I am obssessed with food. What helps me is to grab that bottle of water and go to another part of the house and get into a project, whether it is cleaning out a closet or folding laundry or something that will take my mind off the food.

Hang in there, it is a rough road we are travelling, but with determination we will succeed in our own time. Good luck to you.

Weekends are always hard for me because I am out of routine for my fruits and water. Funny how apples just don't taste the same at home. I also drink more tea at home, but (yesterday) I started with a pot of green tea, and just kept adding boiling water to the pot. . . .so maybe I did get my water in. :)

I echo what John and tiggerlover said. Hold off and get busy to keep your mind off food.

Eating protein in the morning helps my late afternoon snack cravings and 2 rice cakes with water fills me up enough not to feel hungry when I get that craving.

Congrats on the 19 lbs, John, that is awesome!!!!

And let me say THANK YOU to Kelsie for this wonderful idea and the inspiration you are giving all of us!! :)
Hugs!!

Stock up on healthy snacks.

I have apples, baby carrots, WOW chips (in indivdual serving size bags), and WW chocolate pops. I try to have a least on sweet, salty, and chocolate "healthy" product available at all times. That way I can satisfy a craving with something that doesn't ruin my diet. Without these items I would easily go for DH's high fat/hish calorie goodies when I'm at home on the weekends!!

I like Amy's suggestions- have a "good" choice on hand for each type of craving.

Something that helped me this weekend when the boys were snacking: I cut a lot of carrot sticks and celery sticks and put them in a huge ziploc bag in the fridge. Then I took a container of non-fat sour cream and mixed in one envelope of Hidden Valley Fat-Free Original Ranch Party Dip mix: 1 point for 1/4 cup!

So each time a wanted to crunch something, I just grabbed a handful of carrot and celery sticks and plopped about 1/4 cup of ranch dip on my plate and I was set.

Having everything ready ahead of time so there's absolutely no work involved helps me a lot.

And Kelsie, THANK YOU so very much for coordinating this group. Having the support and looking forward to the clippies is a fun way to stay motivated :p .

Kelsie hang in there! I keep FF pringles and pretelz's with salsa dip which is yummy. I like skinny cow's, serbret and slim fast carmel bars all satisfy my sweet thooth. Do like John suggested drink that water and take a walk outside focus on something else other than eating and wait 20 minutes if your still hungry eat your LEGAL treats and all is well.LOL I eat 4 times a day almost everyday and i'm not feeling deprived maybe you could eat smaller meals more often.

I'd like to thank you also, Kelsie to coming up with the idea of the DIS challenge. The group here on the WISH board is such an inspiration to me.

What I do for my husband because snacking is his down fall is keep lot's of Atkins foods around. Like the low carb bars, snack size baggies that contain 1 oz of macadamia nuts or 1 oz of pecans. Also string cheese is a good low carb treat that really takes away the hunger pains. Another thing my dh likes is the Slim Jim spicy smoked snacks. 3 snack sticks from the 5 oz can are only 1 gm of impact carbs. There are always pork rinds if you like them. You can eat 10-20 green olives or 1/2 avocado and they are not only yummy but contain monosaturated fat and are good for you. Just make sure you keep a record or count of how many carbs you take in with the snacks so that you don't go over your limit.

My very favorite special snacks are the macadamia nuts and avocado. High fat and yummy.

Good luck next weekend, Kels. You can do this, I know you can.

Oh, Kelsie, weekends are tough for me too! We tend to eat out on Friday or Saturday or Sunday (or all those days!) and I love a big burger with fries and a beer or two!

Anyway, last weekend was the first weekend that I didn't go hog wild. I did have a few things that weren't in my plans for healthy eating, but nothing like I would normally have. I woke up Monday morning feeling pretty happy with myself and the choices I had made.

Vanity is what helped me get through the weekend and vanity will be what helps me get through the next weekend coming up! :) I am so tired of seeing a blobby belly, jiggly thighs, fat arms and my flabby butt!!!!!!!! I just think about how much sooner I'll be happy with my body if I stick to my plan, and I really don't feel too deprived.

Try to make stuff ahead of time to keep in the fridge. I know you are busy, but make extra portions of whatever you are eating for dinner and then freeze some of it so you can heat it up on the weekends.

Good luck!!!! I know you can do it! :) xo

OK, that one did it :teeth:

I know exactly how you feel :(

Thanks for all of the great tips everyone, I will make it through next weekend!!!

I've been reading the WISH boards for a few weeks now but have generally put off posting (apart from once before I understood what it was!). I lost my extra weight (about 35 lbs or so) a couple of years ago and have kept it off. 'WISH' I'd this kind of support and someone to 'talk' to back then. I really enjoy discussing the whole subject of getting healthy - the word 'diet' to me means re-educating oneself to eat well and be fit rather than just a word that means weight loss. I really like the human face behind the DIS that's about sharing holiday plans and tips.

Anyway...lots of good tips here. But the important thing to remember is just one or two days won't totally undo all you have achieved (even if it makes you feel bad or disheartend) only continued bad eating habits will put the fat back on permanently. In the same way that we get told the first lbs of weight loss are just 'lost fluids', the same must be true of a pound or two put on over a weekend.

So, don't be too hard on yourself and just get back with 'the plan'.

Lots of lovely healthy sylph like days to you all :)

OK...back into lurk mode.

Hey! Don't go away, neo's white rabbit!! That was excellent advice! Stick around. We need folks like you, here.

Pat

280 days and counting . . . again

I also hope you will stick around and join us here on the WISH board, neo's white rabbit .

Do you know that we have a chat at 7PM GMT every Sunday? A transatlantic chat so that our DIS friends in the UK can join us.

Hope to see you there.

Katholyn

Hi NativeTXN - I saw you're an Honorary Brit :)

I'll try and join you all sometime in chat, maybe tomorrow. Not sure I'm set up for the chat thing yet?!

I think this board is good for people like me who've lost their extra weight but still want that positive vibe to keep it off.
