Celebrating your first Disney Cruise, Rosie!
I am VERY VERY happy for you and Carol. If you have any questions, just let me know. :goodvibes

Rosie, can you PM me your address?

That is awesome Rosie!

I would love the fact that you don't have to haul your luggage out and back. I do love your vacationing style! :thumbsup2

Before we booked our first back to back my greatest worry was to have to pack up and unpack again.
But they assured me that as long as we stay in the same stateroom that is not necessary! And it wasn't. :thumbsup2

Karin!! I've been out of the loop for far too long - miss you! ....and now here you have just a week and 2 days before your Summer of 2012 Disney Adventure!!:cool1: I am SO excited for you and Tom! I can hardly wait for the occasional vacation post (& another fabulous TR)! :dance3:

Will try to check in everyday until the big departure! :thumbsup2

(Rosie, what great news about the P&P May Disney Cruise! When might they let you know for sure? Pretty exciting stuff!)

Christine! :woohoo:
So nice to have you back!
Yes, we are getting pretty close to our summer vacation and we are both SO ready for it. :lmao:
I am trying to update during our trip, but you know how it goes ... it always goes by too fast. ;)

Karin
I have been having so much fun reading all of you vacation plans!! I can't wait to be cruising on the Dream with you!!!

In just three short weeks we will be walking into the Atrium, Michelle! I cannot believe we are that close! And I cannot wait to meet you! :goodvibes
We'll leave on Saturday next week. :dance3:

:rotfl: A mystery.............;)

Summer vacation 2012,

Day 21:
Day at sea again :rotfl2:

And another day at sea.
We will be up at around 8am and getting ourselves ready for breakfast at the Royal Palace. And after enjoying some yummy muesli

IMG_1878.jpg

and Morning Tug Boat,

IMG_1877.jpg

we will then head to hand out some more of our Fish Extender gifts

DSC_0142-1.jpg

before joining one of the ship’s presentations. At 11am we will go to the Captain’s reception again and enjoy a nice drink on Disney and some canapés.

DSC_0470.jpg

IMG_1971.jpg

The reception should last for half an hour and after it is over we will head back to our stateroom, get changed and head up to Palo for another brunch.

IMG_1979.jpg

IMG_1986.jpg

IMG_1992-1.jpg

We will spend some time sampling all the yummy options before we head back to our stateroom at around 2pm for some rest.
Once we are refreshed enough we will then head to the open decks and adult areas for some coffee

IMG_1966.jpg

and a little stroll across the ship.
Around 5.30 we will be back in our stateroom to get ready for dinner, which will again be at Palo.
There we will enjoy some more of their yummy food

IMG_2008.jpg

IMG_2022.jpg

IMG_2026.jpg

and of course have a Chocolate Souffle

IMG_2030.jpg

before heading back to our stateroom to get changed.
Tonight is pirate night and we will be heading upstairs to the open decks for some party fun and the fireworks.

DSC_0589.jpg

DSC_0654.jpg

If we feel we can fit some more food in, we will make a short stop at Cabanas for some yummy items from the Pirate buffet, before we will get ourselves back to our stateroom to do a little more packing and then go to bed.

Good Morning, Karin! :goodvibes

Another yummy day at sea! ::yes::

A week tomorrow and you'll be on your way to a new Disney adventure!:dance3:

Out of all that yummy food.....the coffee calls me :lovestruc

Doesn't it look like all we will do all day is eat? :rotfl2: ...... Hm, well, most of the time this IS what we do! :scared1:

They offer some really wonderful coffee creations in the Cove and Vista Cafe. And if you let them know that you want to sit there and enjoy they even serve it in such a nice glass instead of a styrofoam cup! :thumbsup2

Hi Christine! :wave2:

Yes, I cannot believe that I already had 4 weeks of vacation time and next week will mark the half way point in my summer vacation.
And in two weeks exactly we will be moving into the Contemporary Resort. :cloud9:
It's crept up on me and we are so not prepared ..... YET! ;)

Day 22:
And it’s a Castaway Cay day again

Today we will be up early, probably early enough to watch the ship dock at Castaway Cay.

IMG_1311.jpg

And even before we dock our breakfast from room service will arrive.

IMG_6672.jpg

IMG_6673.jpg

We will set it up on our veranda and enjoy it while watching Castaway Cay get closer and closer.
Once we have docked we will get ready and wait until the ship is cleared and we will be allowed to go ashore. We will head for the tram

DSC_0971.jpg

that takes us to the Family Beach tram stop, then jump on the Serenity Bay one.

IMG_1305-1.jpg

IMG_1291-1.jpg

Once there we will again check in for our Cabana and be driven to it.

DSC_0693.jpg

I guess our Cabana host will explain what is all included again, before we can enjoy the outdoor seating for a while.

DSC_0697.jpg

I guess we will take a dip in the ocean

DSCF1172.jpg

before having a snack

IMG_2102-1.jpg

IMG_2101-1.jpg

and some adult beverages

IMG_6696.jpg

IMG_6698.jpg

and relaxing on the deck chairs some more.
Around midday we will head down to the barbeque and stuff ourselves with the excellent offerings they have there.

IMG_6688.jpg

And I am sure lunch will be topped off with some nice fresh fruit

IMG_6694.jpg

and a chocolate chip cookie.

IMG_6692.jpg

Our Cabana host will take us back to our Cabana after lunch and we will enjoy another wonderful afternoon at this heavenly place.

DSCF1147.jpg

Around three o’clock we will then head back to the ship and after taking a shower we will pick up a snack at Tow Maters

IMG_7061.jpg

and finish packing.
In the evening we will head to our rotation restaurant for dinner

IMG_1531.jpg

IMG_1538.jpg

IMG_1542.jpg

IMG_1546.jpg

and after that put out our suitcases, so they can be taken into the terminal before we depart.
I guess we will take another stroll on deck and enjoy one last evening on deck before the cruise will be over.

I remember when I was at St Peter's (Librarian and After School Director) - of course I was very grateful for summers off because I had many years not teaching that summers meant work like any other time of the year. When I accepted a preschool lead teacher job here, I was shocked that it was year around!!:sad2: Anyway, yes, those weeks seem to evaporate!

So much yummy food!! I do LOVE that adorable cabana!!

Here's what I cannot get out of my head....how does one get from the ship to shore? Do you have to go down in some kind of dingy boat and into shore? If you could see the image in my mind!

At both Castaway Cay and Nassau the ship docks right into the harbour. They get the gangway in place and you just walk off, no dingy boat involved. ;)
I know that in the Caribbean they will have to tender, but so far we always were able to just walk on and off the ship. :thumbsup2

I really am trying so hard to convince myself to try a cruise - I keep thinking how much fun it would be if some of us could all go at the same time.:cheer2:

From the gangway can you see how high you are...and the water below or does it have high sides?

Christine, the ship is docked right at the dock and the gangway is on deck one, so the slope is not high at all. Plus the sides are waist high and it is wide. If you walk up in the middle of it you cannot see over the sides at all.

Oh! That would be very doable!! Now to convince Rosie...and who else?:sail: (not that Rosie would require any convincing ;) ) I just have to win the lottery!:thumbsup2

Thanks, Karin!

All you need is a room mate, Christine! And if you move to Florida you could always take advantage of a FL resident discount. Would you really need an outside stateroom? I mean the newer ships have the magical porthole, that give you an outside impression. You can get those without breaking the bank, esp. if you share with someone.
And we would definitely be in if you need some friends to sail with. You just would have to select a time during which I am on school holiday. ;)

Aww, you are so sweet to offer to go at the same time......wnich is good because I would not go without being on the same ship as you and Tom!

If I am going to be brave enough to go on a cruise, then I would save for a Veranda - an inside cabin might be claustrophobic and a window might be too scary - best to have the veranda and see the whole thing! ;)

If I win the lottery I would ask to come Rosie along - I am sure I'd not have to twist her arm to tag along on a free trip...hey it could be just like she is with People and Places, only it would be me!:rotfl:

No arm twisting needed !! Just the Cash !!! I have a feeling that after CarolE and I cruise , Carol is gonna be sooo jealous that she will want to do it too !!Sooo maybe the next year I could be on 2 cruises as 2014 is the year the girls graduate and our Family cruise even if it isn't Disney , Judy wants a 7 day minimum one and the cost of a Disney one for 5 is:scared::scared: But my Free Trips I am hoping will be Disney both times !!!!!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Ah, good girl! Veranda rooms are awesome! :thumbsup2
Oh, it would be so much fun, you and Rosie and maybe some resort changers (Hi Pas!) and we could take over the ship. :rotfl2:

I knew you would be in as well!
And Carol will be so jealous if you and CarolE are going on the cruise together. Just show her the pics of CC and she will turn green with envy! ;) :lmao:

Sorry I haven't posted lately. I had a huge, all-consuming project at work that is now turned in. Whew!

Your reports helped keep me Disney-sane!

Have you started packing yet?

Hi!
Good to see you back! And I do SO understand about being otherwise occupied and not having enough time for the boards. But at least you are back now!

Not even thought about packing yet. ;) We are still busily finishing our FE gifts and have decided that we go through Tom's wardrobe today to pick out a few things to take with us. :thumbsup2

Summer vacation 2012,
Key West, WDW, back to back cruises on the Disney DREAM, and another week at WDW.

Day 23:
Time to leave the DREAM

Today our cruise will be over and after a good night’s sleep we will wake up with the DREAM sitting in Port Canaveral.

IMG_2165.jpg

So after getting ready we will head up to Cabanas for an early bite of breakfast, then head back to our stateroom to check and double check it and finally say goodbye to room 10626 until February. We will get in line for breakfast at our rotation restaurant and after enjoying the “get off out boat” breakfast

IMG_2189.jpg

we will say goodbye to our servers

IMG_2195.jpg

and the beautiful ship and

IMG_2197.jpg

head towards customs. Once we have our luggage and gone through customs we will then head towards the rental car shuttles

IMG_2198.jpg

to pick up another rental car.
And when all the paperwork is done we will stow our belongings in the trunk and get on our way towards Walt Disney World again.

IMG_2216.jpg

I guess we will arrive towards midday and check in at Old Key West for our second DVC stay.

IMG_2217.jpg

IMG_2218.jpg

Hopefully our room will be ready, so we can just drop everything off there or otherwise we will leave it with bell services. We will then drive over to Steak and Shake for lunch.

IMG_2464.jpg

IMG_2457.jpg

A nice simple lunch will make such a change from the cruise food. After lunch we will most likely go shopping to fill that fridge in our villa.
So I guess a visit to Publix and maybe one to Krispy Kreme

IMG_2679.jpg

will be in store. Once back in the villa we will start off with doing some laundry, so we will have nice and clean clothes to wear for the rest of our trip.
While the washer and dryer are on we will relax and by early evening we will get ready for dinner at The Wave.

IMG_9610.jpg

IMG_9613.jpg

Since we won’t be on the Disney Dining Plan this time, we will most likely share a starter, enjoy a main course and share dessert again, before we head over to the Magic Kingdom to enjoy the Electical Parade

IMG_5614.jpg

IMG_5617.jpg

and Wishes.

IMG_5568.jpg

IMG_5605.jpg

We will then stay for Extra Magic Hours until 1am. Since we just got off the cruise we will definitely try to get on the Jungle cruise and Pirates, as well as Big Thunder, the Haunted Mansion and a few more Fantasyland rides

IMG_5608.jpg

before all too soon it will be time to head back to Old Key West for some well deserved sleep.

Link to Day 24

So depressing to get off the ship. But you still have more fun to come!

I am getting so excited for our trip...I can book excursions tomorrow!
