OK, my mind's been racing ever since I talked to my guide today. I was planning on buying 50-75 points at BCV when we're there around Memorial day. But with this MB offering, and the possibilty of points going up in cost, that is IF there are any points left at BCV around 6/1, and don't you really think we should buy 100 more instead of 50-75? We "only" have 175, and people have been so convincing about the one bedrooms instead of the studios, especially at OKW, which is DH's favorite resort. This way we'd have 275 points, and I promise I wouldn't ask for more-pleeeaaassse!!! (getting in practice for when DH gets home)
Really, I want to buy so badly-can anyone give me a (sort of) unbiased opinion on whether or not I should "go for it" and buy 100 points now?

I have added 3 times and sometimes I still don't think I have enough. The prices are only going up, so go for it. If you already wanted 50-75, what is 25-50 more. We found we wanted enough to go on vacation 2 times a year and stay in a GV. If we stay in a smaller unit, we can stay much longer. YEAH!!! You really should plan for enough for at least a 1 bedroom. There is no comparison in a studio and a 1 bedroom. Good luck with your decision.

Wow how tempting it can be. We started 1998 with 200 BWV loved it and made the most of it off peak with OKW. We had a goal of 400 to 500 and that would be great. We were staying this past spring at OKW and we love it there. But when we visited the lake area of BWV and BCV we feel so happy with the location we bought another BCV150 points. We then went back in the fall and bought andother BCV150 points and then for Christmas we totally lost our minds and bought the special price $65 at VB and added another 160 points.
We love the entire DVC program and we look at it as a long term investment in our quality of life not only for now but when we retire and don't have the money to even think of adding points due to money and age.
We're on our way down this thurs. staying at OKW for 10 days and we just booked 10 days in December at BCV in a 2 bedroom and we are bringing parents. We gave our parents 5 nights at VB this june as a christmas present in a deluxe ocean view room. So now we can share a bit of the magic while we can still all enjoy.
We are also going to Hawaii this Februray for 160 points 7 nights at the Marriotts Kaui Beach Club and used the VB points for the trade. Its my 50th Birthday.
We love it, we did it and we are done for now. Yes it was a streatch and we hope by the grace of God in 5 years to add 340 OKW before we retire a few years later.

Good Luck

It sounds like you have researched this well!

Now would probably be a good time to buy, for all the reasons you've mentioned. You want to buy before the price goes up and before they run out of your use year. And the sooner you start the buying process, the sooner you will have it paid for!

We started with 150 points at VWL and added at BCV before the price went up. We knew we hadn't bought enough points, and didn't want to miss out on owning in that area. By the way, just the 2 of us always stay in a 1 BR. When we take our 2 kids we get 2 BR!

Why not just buy an OKW resale contract? That would cost even less or you could buy more points for the same money. The maintenance fees are less. And you indicated that is a resort you would like to stay at.

I bought at BCV becuase we wanted that location and a resale at OKW becuase OKW is the best value in the DVC system.

$15 per point at VB and HH with a minimum of 50 and $10 pp at BCV and VWL with a min of 100 points. Current sale price is $84 before MB.

If you see the need for extra pts and can get them where you want, go for it! We added on 50 before we ever used the original 170 that we had. We are able to use them for a 2 bed at VWL with banked pts from 02 and would not have been able to had it not been for add-on.
