I made my first t-shirt last night and I used the Avery dark transfer sheets on a black shirt. I set my iron on the hightest cotton setting as per the instructions. My transfer was close to a full sheet so I ironed it for almost 3 minutes.

It looks awful. It is totally scorched. Has this happened to anyone else?

Any suggestions to keep me from ruining another transfer and shirt? Not iron as long? Set my iron not so hot? Don't put so much pressure on it when ironing? Try a different type of transfer?

I was so excited to make my first one and so disappointed with the results.

I don't know what to do about the scorth, but don't beat yourself up...I messed up my first shirt too...only mine was "smudged"...:goodvibes

My first shirt was smudged also. I just went to Office Depot and bought Ultra Fine Sharpie Markers in the colors of the Disign and colored them in. You can't even tell they are smudged now. I don't know what will happen when I wash it but I'm not taking any chances. We will wear it to the park and see what happens when we ge home.
