Congratlulations to @courtneybeth and @Dr Gunnie for your fantastic races!!
Here in Germany it is actually standard that at nearly every running event you got alcohol free wheat beer after the finish line. A large brewery has decided to sponsor running events to promote their beer as a perfect recovery drink.
I hit a running milestone as well and did my first long run that was 10 km. It was quite warm when I was out there, but I powered through and am very proud that I got it done! So, now my routine for the next few weeks will be to keep running those 10km every Sunday. And then after my race on June 2nd, I hope to keep this as my new standard running routine. I have to say being out there and running for over an hour has something very satisfying. I never considered myself a runner - I am slow and never was able to keep up with it as much as I should have... But I think this is slowly changing. I really got into a very pleasant zen mode of just powering through feeling uncomfortable. And I am already looking forward to Wednesday when I get to run again! I am thinking it will be time this week or next week to add in some speed work into one of my short runs. I hate speed work! I once had a training plan that emphasized a lot on it and I started to hate my runs. However, I know that it helps me to pick up some speed, because really, a lot of the time I just running slow because it is easier. I know that I can be faster.
Sorry for the running ramble... At least there I have something positive to say. The scale currently hates me and moved in the wrong direction (I know why, this is the time of the month when I am heavier, I more or less weigh 2 to 4 pounds more for one half of the month than the other half of the month, it is still a bit frustrating). We will see if I am able to report something tomorrow morning, otherwise I will be at 0% (so happy that we are not reporting negative results...).
And with over 20.000 steps today I am now going to allow myself to veg out on the sofa and watch the German version of The Biggest Loser. Yes, despite that frustrating article! I still have a soft spot for it... However, I think the German version is a bit more low key and actually focuses a lot on learning how to maintain your weight after a weight loss.
