QOTD - May 10

image.gif

For today's QOTD, we are going to have a little relaxation moment (Disgust isn't too sure about this but agreed to play a long).

I want you to close your eyes, take five deep breaths, and let your happy place come into focus. Where are you? What does it feel like? Any sounds or smells? Hot sun on your face or cool wind at your shoulders? Toes in the surf or skis ready to plummet down the mountain?

Note: I don't want to know where you think your happy place is. I want to know what your subconscious comes up with. :)

Note 2: I'm now envisioning myself in some kind of 1970s hypnotist costume. And I look like Mrs. Roper. I am old.

Can I have 2 please? One - place in Ireland we were last month for a weekend. Breathtaking sunsets & sunrise. I did my yoga in the morning looking at the sunrise in one side, moon on the other (as pictured) and endless blue. When I close my eyes, this is what I see. It's not hot, slight wind and sunny & fresh.

And the other one

Steven Tyler at 68! Most 68 year olds I know would need hip replacement after riding it

I would love to be healthy & have fun in 30 years and fit enough for rock coaster

So depending on the needs. Piece and serenity vision one, WDW at 68 vision two.

I actually do well with visualizing places I love for few breaths! But I took mental picture of the place we were in April and I often close my eyes for a second and bring back up the beauty and the calm in my mind

What came up: At my parents house swimming in the pool on a weekend with my family. It's loud with the kids playing and music is playing. It's about 85 degrees and my beverage is about 35 degrees.

Not my ideal vision I was hoping for, but still a pretty good day.

Feeling very disgusted with myself now... Just had far too many of the office gummy bears!! ARG!!!

You are old! I am old and a man haha!

Flossbolna - forget about it. You will do better next time you see the jellies!

I have a few places. Disney is my happy place. Maybe more so planing. Our second trip to Disney was more so a way for my husband and I to connect again. We were going through a rough patch at the time and Free dining came up. He said yes to going and we started planning right away. It made us start talking again and sending time together. While we are at Disney at any time I can leave all reality behind.

Disney is very much go go go so I can picture myself on the beach with blue waters and just listening to the waves. Also another peaceful place would be on a ranch riding a horse. I can totally lose myself in thought on a horse.

I'll do the visualization later, in the quiet of my hotel room... There's a lot of happy happening around me right now, as I'm seated just outside The Plaza restar aunt on Main Street having some breakfast.

A (somewhat) quick recap of yesterday...

AK for rope drop of early EMH: picture, Safari, Everest, totally healthy breakfast of iced chai and donut all before the proper park opening then Bugs Life. Step count: 7418

Arrived at DHS just after 10am. Got my picture taken on the way in, did Rocket ng Rollercoaster and Beauty and the Beast, grabbed a frozen strawberry bar and walked thru One Mans Life, one of my favorites. Step count 10741.

Caught the boat to EPCOT but got off at Beach Club and walked the second half. Sat down at Spice Road for some hummus, olives and mint iced tea. Did the movie in France and got as pop of ice cream, headed over to Living with the Land (another favorite) then went thru Nemo. Got a picture taken on the way out. Step count 16463.

3pm caught the monorail to MK. Got the picture on the way in. Did Tiki Room, walked thru Swiss Family tree house... I'd totally live there, or in the little shack on the dock of Jungle Cruise. Sat down at Skippers Canteen and ordered way too much food. Was seated in the Library, which was really nicely decorated. Headed over to Pirates... Thankfully they've dialed down the splashing. Left At 5:45pm step count 21080.

General thoughts- Had blast! It was easier than I thought, and everything went smoothly. Transportation timing was stellar. Switching days to take advantage of early EMH at AK instead late hours at MK was one of the smartest things I've done in months. Step count wasn't as high as I thought it would be, I think due to choosing things close to each other. I would totally do it again.

I wrapped up so early that after making a stop at POP to charge up my phone I headed over to Disney Springs... The only unfun thing I did all day. The rush of people was overwhelming so I didn't stay long and was back at the hotel in time to catch the Star Wars fireworks, which are spectacular. Step count for the entire day 27376.

Sitting on a deck chair on deck 4 of the Disney Wonder looking out to the ocean. It is warm, but not hot, you can feel the ship moving ever so slightly, there is a slight salty breeze and the ocean is a deep blue...

This picture is quite exactly from two years ago during our Panama Canal cruise. I am currently very homesick for the Disney Wonder as she is on her Panama Canal cruise at the moment... I am still looking forward to my cruise on the Disney Fantasy later this year, but somehow the Wonder has a very soft spot in my heart since she was the first ship I ever cruised on.

I immediately went to MK and thought it a little silly but here goes: Sitting down that little alley off of main street (at the tables beyond where they do the silhouettes). It's very early just after rope drop, having my Starbucks, watching the birds hopping around on the ground waiting for me to drop something. It's quiet enough to hear the dance studio lessons going on above, and I know what a fun day lies ahead. This is our morning tradition on the day we leave, and it's my moment of gratitude, happiness, and magic.

and walked thru One Mans Life, one of my favorites

Anyone who loves this attraction should look into a trip to San Francisco to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum. It is kind of the same, but so much bigger that if you are a Disney fan, you can spend a whole day in there! We were there last summer and we were blown away!! And for you it is even on the same coast as you!

Reading these responses, specifically the Disney themed ones, has me missing the Magic Kingdom and the Disney cruises. The good news is my family will be doing both next March. The bad news is March seems forever away. I just can't convince my wife a trip to DW this summer.

Being at Disney is definitely my happy place.

It's funny, because I always assume that my "happy place" will be Disney, but it's not. It's a lake in the retirement community where my grandparents used to live. Whenever I went to visit, when I first woke up, I would go out there and sit by the lake for a few minutes ... just listen to the sounds of nature, watch the ripples from the wind on the lake surface, and just relax. It's so calming, and it's nice to close my eyes and feel those calm and serene mornings again.

Here's a picture:

What came up for me was Busch Stadium, home of my beloved St. Louis Cardinals. The smell of the food, the crack of the bat and knowing you are surrounded by 40,000 close friends.

This is awesome! I'm a big baseball fan (although I've never been to Busch Stadium ... but my brother and father have), and it is pretty amazing to be a part of that environment, rooting for your team with a bunch of strangers, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the greatest game in the world.

Sounds like a great day! My sister has a nice pool too and we all like to hang out there during the summer!

I love watching others horse back ride, but I haven't done it enough myself to feel very comfortable. I enjoy it, but still somewhat stressful at the same time if that makes sense.

What came up for me was Busch Stadium, home of my beloved St. Louis Cardinals. The smell of the food, the crack of the bat and knowing you are surrounded by 40,000 close friends.

Go Cardinals! :cheer2:

That sounds like such a fun thing to do! I never thought about trying to go to all 4 parks on the same day!

I :lovestruc cruising too! I've never cruised Disney, but love all of them that we've been on. We're doing the NCL Hawaiian islands cruise this summer!

We didn't get a chance to visit the museum when we were there a couple of years ago. It was on our list, but just didn't end up happening. Guess we'll have to go back someday!

I love this QOTD!

For mine, it is definitely a beach. To me, there is nothing better than the sound and smell of the ocean. Just instant relaxation and calmness.

Thanks for the updates. I'm so jealous of you being there right now, but reading your report is almost like being there... keep them coming and enjoy today!

Love this because I know exactly the spot your talking about and we have sat there to relax a couple of times and just regroup. I love planning our days at MK and getting in all of the attractions that we want, but some day I would like to go with nothing planned, maybe not even do any rides and just people watch and enjoy seeing kids/families enjoy the happiest place on earth.

This got me thinking to my favorite spot at MK, and I'm going to go with It's a Small World. It's the only ride that I know I've been on every trip I have ever been on at MK - from my first trip when I was 6 to now. It's not that I love the ride (although I don't dislike it), but it's so relaxing on the boat and the song just takes me back to being a kid at Disney. I start thinking about riding it with my parents when I was a kid and how I'm doing the same with my kids, and then I start wondering if they will do the same with their kids... just great thoughts while riding it.

Gosh, I frickin' love being at Disney!

QOTD - May 10

Roper. I am old.

I just got home from the gym so I think that influenced my happy place. Usually a beach would be the place, but I think with adrenaline still surging, it brought me to (Shocker) running at Disney. I pictured coming in from "backstage" by Tony's and running onto Main St. Up toward the castle, but bearing right toward Tomorrow Land, through there and Fantasy Land, and on through the Castle. From there into Frontierland and out of the park by the train station. A lot of people love the running up main street portion with the crowds cheering, but I love the quieter more solo portions running through the areas with no spectators.

I love watching others horse back ride, but I haven't done it enough myself to feel very comfortable. I enjoy it, but still somewhat stressful at the same time if that makes sense.

Totally makes sense. My mom grew up on a farm and my grandparents had the family until I was in my 20's. I grew up around horses. Once I started to ride it took me a little bit of time to get used to get and feel comfortable. My mom still has a horse but she is a much more experienced rider and gets horses I can't ride. One day I will have the money to get my own.
