Have you whitened your teeth?

I was wondering if any of the over the counter stuff worked, and if so for how long and are there any negative side effects?

I bought a Cyber Sonic toothbrush and it came with whitening gel. Not only is it a great toothbrush but the whitening gel works GREAT! The brush comes with 4 tubes and each tube will last a week. They sell extras at the same place you buy your brush. I got mine at Target :)

Crest whitestrips worked really well for me, but I really don't like them much anyway. They do NOT stick to your teeth like they show in the commercials. They fall off real easily, and you can't talk when they're on, or they'll completely fall off.

It's been a while since I used them and I'm in need of a "tune up". Has anyone tried the Night time whiteners?

I forget who makes it, but that nightime one they show on tv all the time looks just like white-out to me...am I the only one who was thinking that???

I had the dentist make impressions of my teeth and I used Nite White. My teeth were yellow because of medication I took but I never new how yellow till then becaome white. I now buy the replacement nite white tubes right of the computer and it is alot cheaper then the dentist but the key is also to have good teeth trays for at night. the toal cost was $300.00 and it was worth ever cent

My cousins used the Crest Whitening strips, and they really worked. I tried them and couldn't get them to stick, so gave up for now. :) I'll try again when I'm not so lazy!

I just started using Colgate Simply White, 2 nights ago.
It does come in a bottle that reminds me of white-out, lol.

But, it is a clear whitening gel. The instructions say to apply before bed. You brush your teeth, wipe your teeth dry with a tissue, and then brush a thin layer of the gel onto your teeth.
Do not drink anything or wet your teeth, other than having to close your mouth, lol.

I have been applying it and then waiting a few seconds for it to get tacky, so I can close my mouth. Last night I stood in front of a fan to dry it a bit, lol. In less than a minute, it gets tacky and seems to stay put.

The instructions say it will take about 2 weeks.
I bought it on sale and decided to test it out. I like that I can brush it onto individual teeth, because my 2 front teeth are capped and I'm not sure how a bleach will effect them. With the brush on, I can avoid those teeth.

So anyway...I'll let you know if I see a difference in 2 weeks!

im doing the same with the crest whitening that u apply with a brush last night was my first night so who knows if therell be a diffrence but the only problem i had was the tsate kindda and just the feeling of it bein on ur teeth u know

and i was woundering for the crest whitening gel how long must u leave it on?

I did Brite Smile at my dentist's office. It took about 90 minutes and includes a bleaching gel that they use under a special light. They did three separate treatments in that time frame, and it DEFINITELY made a huge difference. The results last for at least a year and even longer with a monthly touch-up with a home kit that I do (you wear it for an hour). It's not cheap but it was well worth it, I LOVE the results. :teeth:

ps....the Simply White gel has no bad taste that I notice...no taste or smell at all really.
The first time I applied it, I was braced for a burning taste or something, but there was none.

I did Crest White Strips about 4-5 months ago and I agree they are a pain to stay in place but it was cheap and I did not have to got to the dentist, whom I dislike ;) . My teeth came out great and it was not a huge pain to me, put them on, took a shower, cleaned up, and then off they came! Almost time to do it again.....

I also did the Crest White Strips & got them on sale & with a $7 off coupon! I noticed a difference in about 3 days! My teeth are yellowed from my preferred beverages (coffee & iced tea!) Anyway, I was telling my dentist about it & he was all for using the Crest Strips...he said it was a good product & very reasonably priced. He also suggested that from now on I should drink all my tea & coffee out of a straw if I wanted the results to last as long as possible. :)

If you have crowns, will any of the whitening systems work on them - either at home or at the dentist's office?

You know that Crest has a Whitestrips guarantee! There is an explanation on the box. I think you get a money back or an extra box for FREE

I tried the crest white strips one time. They made my gums feel puckered or something. I couldn't really tell they made a difference.

Tried the regular Crest whitening strips quite awhile ago and the results were great. A few months ago used the Simply White Colgate product...not so great a result. I think you are only supposed to use them every 6 months, so soon will go back to the Crest strips. They cost more, but worth the difference.

My hubby's brother is a dentist and he made the trays for me and I used the gel at home for an hour a day for a week. It made a HUGE difference, I was really impressed (I drink coffee and diet Coke every day, although he said that tea is the worst thing that stains teeth  ). I use the trays once a year and am very happy with the results. BTW, he said the toothpastes with whiteners are useless. The whitening strips do work (a lot less potent than what you get in the dentists' office) but are not as effective as the trays that are "fit" exactly to your teeth. It is definately worth it!

I did the $300 deal through the dentist (Nite White or something)..............Am I the ONLY person who wanted to rip their own head off after using this stuff??!!!......THE PAIN!!!! My teeth hurt soooo bad, I couldn't even crack a smile, for fear the air would hit them and I'd pass out!!! It was like needing 28 root canals all at once. A friend of mine had the same experience with the in office, light process.

Disney Ella: No the bleaches won't affect your crowns. My dentist made my crowns lighter than my teeth based on how white he thought my teeth would get. Obviously, I didn't get very far with that. Thank goodness my crowns are on molars.

I may try again when I get my braces off. Iff I can have some really strong pain killers!!;) Although the sonic care system sounds promising. Hmmmm.......
