Have you seen this?

If I recall correctly he got a few stitches and was released.

Yes, every article I have read, stated that. Treated with a few stitches to his face, and released.

I have watched this video several times, as something about this case has just stuck with me. It's just horrifying to watch. I cannot imagine the terror they must have been feeling. I have no sympathy for the biker in the hospital.
I'm also glad they have charged the biker who stopped in front of him with several things, including reckless driving and child endangerment.
The police have stated that they were slashing his tires, and beating on his truck etc, before he ran that cyclist over.
There is some very interesting reading on the "Justice" Facebook page, I'm sure they weren't quite expecting so much stuff to be posted in hatred toward the biker. What a great role model he is for his kids, riding around with a group like that.
As far as locking the door, I had said that too, until it got to the point in the video where they smashed his window in when he got off the highway, not much he could have done at that point to keep the door closed.
I have seen some still photo's of the SUV driver on the ground, and the men surrounding him, hopefully at some point this will help identify some more of them, in addition to the 3 they know for sure at this point.

:worried: Geeee...reading some of the thoughts people have makes me wish I could get off the planet. Getting to be a scarier place every day.

For those who are opposed to the SUV driver using his car as a weapon, would you be similarly opposed if he had a gun and used that? If it were me I'd run them all over. They are taking over an entire highway! I'm sure there were probably many instances of cars jamming on brakes and swerving to avoid this idiots. They ride like they own the roads and are the only ones out there.

And in yet another instance of "not my little Johnny" there's mommy on the TV crying about justice for her son who is now paralyzed. He got what he deserves. Lie with dogs, wake up with fleas.

Can't watch vids.

But wow, I love that damaging a car justifies possible death. I will have to remember that here, with all the bad drivers in FL ;)

It was not just damaging a car... it was a mob of bikers surrounding the SUV, trying to open his door. The SUV driver had his wife and daughter in the car...the video is scary. His choices were to let them attack him and possibly his family or try to get away... I would also drive away

To add, how was the driver of the SUV to know the extent this attack would go to? I truly believe (because it's how I would have felt) that the driver of the SUV did fear for his life and that of his family.

For those who think the SUV driver crossed a line, what do you think he should have done? He was surrounded on all sides, they were trying to get into his car, trying to immobilize his car by slashing the tires and they had already called 911. I don't see what other options he had.

This motorcycle driver who was injured has no drivers license. It was revoked several times as far back as 2007. He also has 5 outstanding warrants. This is from a local arrest:

" charged with operating a motor vehicle after license was revoked, illegal possession of a Class D narcotic, operating a motor vehicle with defective equipment and on five outstanding warrants"

Here is another video that demonstrated their behavior

Also if you look alot, I mean a tremendous amount of the MCs have no plates or plates that are turned up. Gee I wonder why?!?

DH and I ride and we definitely support the SUV driver. As DH said this morning "people like that make all bikers look bad".

A normal group of bikes riding together don't surround a car like that. They will form a column in one lane. Most bikers want to keep as far away from a car as possible to avoid accidents. The SUV driver obviously had reason to fear the bikers from their driving. If he hadn't been boxed in, when he left originally, he would not have run over the other biker.

I am always amazed when a family member rushes to defend an injured loved one. His mom wasn't there so how does she know what her son did? Until he is recovered enough to speak no one knows his side of the story.

Such a stand up citizen!

The news story I heard this morning is that the bikers were trying to form a moving roadblock to clear up the parkway so that they could film themselves doing their stunts that they post to the web.

We have a similar group in Cleveland. They stalk craigslist for bikes and fourwheelers that are for sale in the neighboring rural communities, then either come back and steal them after meeting with the seller, or just outright take off with them during the test ride. They then film themselves on these stolen bikes riding all over the east side of Cleveland, down sidewalks, through red lights, etc.

I don't think the SUV driver should be prosecuted I understand what he did and may have very well done the same myself. However he could have laid on his horn and made it obvious he was going to take off. Maybe because I'm a male that grew up around violence I didn't see the part before he ran the guy over as threatening as most here did. I keep reading mob mentality here and I don't see it, in the video there are no more than 5 people not still on there bikes. I would guess at least one or two of them were helping the person that was just hit. I do think the SUV driver was reckless but I understand why, and he shouldn't be prosecuted IMO. I don't understand how you can not feel sympathy for someone because he got caught with a little weed and no license.

I have a question that has really been bothering me since viewing the video yesterday...

If Jay Meezee (injured biker) allegedly got off of the bike to help Christopher Crus (biker who was hit from behind) why wasn't Christopher Cruz severely injured if he was supposedly lying on the ground in front of the SUV?

When I look at the video, I know it is hard to see, but I don't see anyone lying on the ground.

What was the drive suppose to do? If there were a number of people slashing your tires while you were in the vehicle wouldn't you assume they were coming for you next?

Very few if any of these bikers had a license, tag or insurance. They NYPD has been told not to do anything about these gangs.

"The department has ordered cops not to chase after large biker groups like the one that beat a driver near the West Side Highway because of the risk that innocent bystanders or the riders will be killed, law-enforcement sources told The Post."

With all the laws they were breaking? Are you serious? They had no regard for anyone else or anyone else's safety. Have you seen the other videos posted from that day? Blowing through red lights, speeding, weaving in and out of traffic, threatening other drivers. And yet you think these jackwads deserve someone's sympathy? Ridiculous!

And then if the driver slammed on his brakes and another idiot biker smashed into the back of him, it would be the SUV driver's fault for slamming on his brakes.

One of the other articles I read stated Cruz was not injured in the accident. I don't believe that the paralyzed biker really got off to help him, I think that's just something his family is saying to gain sympathy.

Why don't you watch the video before shooting off your mouth! The guy in the SUV was surrounded my a multitude of bikers. That in itself would be threatening to anyone. Then one pulled in front of him and purposely braked. He couldn't not hit him. They then slashed his tires and when he tried to escape (with his wife and 2 year in the SUV) he had no choice but to run them over to get away. They caught up and surrounded the SUV, broke the windows, dragged him out of the car and beat him senseless! He's in critical condition!
The biker who is in he hospital has no one to blame but himself and his fellow bikers.

The SUV driver was perfectly justified. Those bikers were looking for someone to terrorize and purposely brake jobbed him to have an excuse. They mobbed his car,and he had his child inside. He absolutely should have taken off. NO QUESTION. They were out for blood and he did what he could to protect his family. Look at what they did when they finally caught him. If they had actually gotten him out of the SUV before he got away the second time, some of them would be charged with murder right now.

Where did you hear that he's in critical condition? (No snark, I just hadn't read that myself)

You can get hurt pretty bad if you are next to an SUV's tires when it starts to drive......

The whole thing sickens me. The people that are saying the SUV driver shouldn't have done anything - not done what, exactly? He's the one that had his tires slashed, window smashed, dragged out of his car and beaten on the road. If he did hit one of the bikers unprovoked, the rest of the bikers could have just gotten his license plate number and called police. The rest of it was totally and completely unnecessary.
