Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Ok. I thought I was a little crazy. I noticed this too. I got the Pfizer shot on Friday. Hoping that symptom is gone today! It feels like moments of low blood sugar where you absolutely have to eat something. Weird.

He hasn't mentioned about low blood sugar feeling. I could hear his stomach growling from across the room this morning. He normally does not eat breakfast but has been eating it lately.

Those that are seeing family again now that you are vaccinated, are you doing so unmasked & undistanced or are you still masking & distancing?

When I was with my mom (both of use were fully vaccinated) I did not mask and did not social distance. As soon as DH is fully vaccinated (he has had his 2nd shot just waiting the 2 weeks) we will have his grandmother over (she is fully vaccinated) for dinner and will not mask. We are still being a bit cautious right now as DS (15) and DD (13) are not vaccinated. Just not as cautious as we were.

Update for us:

Our fevers came back in late afternoon Saturday but it was low grade. After getting a bit of food in me and my husband have some food we both took some ibuprofen. I just took 1 tablet (200mg). After that our fevers broke for good.

My 4th nap on Saturday sorta turned into bedtime. I woke up after about 1 hour and was only up for 15mins before I just fell asleep again. Woke up it was 10:30pm and my husband had fallen asleep watching a youtube video on his laptop. It was time for bed lol. We decided to continue sleep separately for Saturday night since I was still off. I only woke up once at about 4am.

Sunday we were a lot better. My husband was basically back to normal aside from minor arm pain (but it didn't stop him from doing some outdoor work). I was still fatigued, had a headache, and my arm was a bit more pain than my husband but still minor enough. I do have an enlarged lymph node under my armpit like some others noted. That showed up Sunday but I could feel it as just weird late Saturday night so I knew something was happening.

For those who had an enlarged lymph node, did it go away quickly or stay with you for a while?

I took another 1 pill of ibuprofen on Sunday to deal with the headache and I took 2 naps. We were back to sleeping in the same bed for last night and I didn't wake up til morning.

Today I'm headache free, I don't have any body aches or any other issues but my arm still feels a tad sore and I still have the enlarged lymph node. My fatigue is still here. It's more that my energy is zapped easily. I'll take that over the other stuff though! My husband is still basically back to normal, he went to work with no issues though I believe he still has a minor twinge to his arm but not an issue to him.

DH got his second Pfizer shot on Saturday. He has had very mild side effects. His arm was sore the first night and at some time over night he got the chills but no fever. By morning he was fine. He has said that he has been extremely hungery since he got the shot.
Come to think of it, I was hungry too. Both shots. And I always felt better after I ate. I never really got any nausea to speak of. But maybe that is because I ate quite a bit. Now. I was careful. I ate very gentile things. No big spicy things. No really greasy things. Nothing highly acidic. No things that could create a turbulent tummy. So maybe that all helped or maybe I just didn't get nausea. Can't say for sure.

That will depend on the size of the gathering and whether they are vaccinated or not and how safe vs irresponsible I know them to be.
About the only rule that is hard and fast is no vaccine, no see me. That rule may change once we have a better percentage vaccinated. But for now, no.

I had my second Moderna shot last Friday. I had only a sore arm, slight headache and I was a slightly fatigued on Saturday and that was it. My arm is still sore today, but I know that will pass. My husband didn't fare as well after his second Moderna shot back in February. He felt like he was coming down with the flu and didn't feel well for about 36 hours afterwards.

@Mackenzie Click-Mickelson - my co-worker has had swollen lymph nodes (in her armpits) since the day after her second Pfizer shot on Saturday, 4/10. She was also pretty sick afterwards and felt like she was coming down with the flu. Those flu-like symptoms subsided by this past Wednesday, but she still has the swollen lymph nodes today, 9 days later.

Mine lasted about a week or so after each shot.

DH ate anything and everything. He was eating left over pizza and tacos and his stomach was fine. I did the same as and watched what I ate after each shot to be on the safe side.

It will be my parents. Both vaccinated but both high risk due to age and health. Have not seen either since Christmas 2019. I am not sure how comfortable I will be being unmasked “just in case.” Am only comfortable seeing them at all because we all will be vaccinated. To be clear it is me putting THEM at risk that causes me to be uncomfortable not them putting me at risk.

I would think you could ask them. But I would think if you are vaccinated, distance, mask, and limit contacts for 3 weeks prior and don't have any symptoms and were reasonably safe in your behavior and mask up while you're there, I think you will have reduced their risk to about as minimal levels as you can.

Do you believe the science?

Had gotten behind on this thread, but just caught up.

Today was rough. I had heard that people had reactions to the second dose but wasn’t expecting full flu like symptoms. My fever finally went away around 4, and now I feel better, but groggy.
I got my second Moderna shot on Saturday. I thought I was ok until the middle of the night when it hit me - fever (100.7), chills, horrible headache and body aches. I was up from about 2am-5am just miserable. I took some Aleve and that helped me get an hour or so of sleep before we left on a 8 hour road trip that was hellish for me. I just kept popping tylenol on the drive and tried (unsuccessfully) to sleep. I slept ok last night in the hotel and feel "ok" this morning. My arm is still very sore, but I don't have a headache yet so I can deal with my arm.
This resembles my DS’s experience after his second Pfizer shot. He was on a ferry when symptoms kicked in, and for the worst of it, was in a hotel room. Ugh. Lasted about 24 hrs, but woke up the day after that feeling pretty good. In our household, three got Pfizer and one Moderna (me) and his was the worst of it. DD and I had mild, short-lasting symptoms, and DH had none.

@MacKenzieClarkMichelson A coworker of mine (hospital) got the swollen lymph nodes under her arm (as well as the “Moderna arm rash”) in February and her nodes are still swollen. She recently went for a mammogram and all was fine. She has been totally checked out by multiple health care providers and they all say she’s ok and that the swelling will eventually go away, but she is still a little worried. BTW I’m sorry your symptoms were so severe! Gut sense tells me that oral Zofran wouldn’t have done much for you (with such severe symptoms), but that IV may have helped you feel a little better. Tough to get outside of a hospital or clinic, though. At least now you‘re all set!

@Christine, I’m sure you got the vaccine! If it didn’t go in, the syringe would not have been empty, and the two providers would’ve noticed that and been obligated to act.

@snappy, So glad you get to see your mother now and hope she’s doing ok. :flower3:

Glad to see so many have had their shots and that this thread has been so helpful! Way to go @mom2rtk! :thumbsup2

You’re all fully vaccinated, yet you’re still uncomfortable?

Science is saying we don’t really know for sure if one can transmit the virus even while vaccinated. Science is saying one can still contract the virus even if vaccinated. My mom has COPD COVID could very well be a death sentence for her. I am comfortable seeing her outside masked and distanced BECAUSE we will be vaccinated. Without that the risk is too high for me.

Actually science says it’s very unlikely that a vaccinated person will transmit the virus to other people.

I am of the opinion that we each have to assess our own risk and the risk of the people we visit when it comes to exposure to Covid. Risk and your tolerance to it can vary widely, based on so many health factors and which environment you end up in while visiting. I find my risk tolerance has fluctuated a lot. I am still vigilant, but I am more calm when with others. I can tell others are more or less comfortable with the social distancing or masking, and I understand how they might feel that way. I just like seeing progress!

You have to do what you’re comfortable with. Personally I couldn’t imagine not seeing my parents as normal after we’re all vaccinated. The risk of a vaccinated person passing it to another vaccinated person is probably not zero, but pretty close.

Very low risk of transmitting plus there's a very low risk of serious complications if it did happen.

This factor is precisely the reason I have seen my way to clear to visit with my sister, my mom and my best friend, and look forward to seeing our kids when we can work out distant visits, even though all of us except our kids are seniors and most have underlying medical conditions.

I had that after the first dose and it lasted about 2 weeks, sometimes feeling more prevalent than others. This time, I only had it for a day or so.

But I'm guessing it has the possibility of lasting quite a few weeks since my insurance company has said not to make screening mammogram appointments until you're 10 weeks past your first shot for exactly this reason.
