Had gotten behind on this thread, but just caught up.
Today was rough. I had heard that people had reactions to the second dose but wasn’t expecting full flu like symptoms. My fever finally went away around 4, and now I feel better, but groggy.
I got my second Moderna shot on Saturday. I thought I was ok until the middle of the night when it hit me - fever (100.7), chills, horrible headache and body aches. I was up from about 2am-5am just miserable. I took some Aleve and that helped me get an hour or so of sleep before we left on a 8 hour road trip that was hellish for me. I just kept popping tylenol on the drive and tried (unsuccessfully) to sleep. I slept ok last night in the hotel and feel "ok" this morning. My arm is still very sore, but I don't have a headache yet so I can deal with my arm.
This resembles my DS’s experience after his second Pfizer shot. He was on a ferry when symptoms kicked in, and for the worst of it, was in a hotel room. Ugh. Lasted about 24 hrs, but woke up the day after that feeling pretty good. In our household, three got Pfizer and one Moderna (me) and his was the worst of it. DD and I had mild, short-lasting symptoms, and DH had none.
@MacKenzieClarkMichelson A coworker of mine (hospital) got the swollen lymph nodes under her arm (as well as the “Moderna arm rash”) in February and her nodes are still swollen. She recently went for a mammogram and all was fine. She has been totally checked out by multiple health care providers and they all say she’s ok and that the swelling will eventually go away, but she is still a little worried. BTW I’m sorry your symptoms were so severe! Gut sense tells me that oral Zofran wouldn’t have done much for you (with such severe symptoms), but that IV may have helped you feel a little better. Tough to get outside of a hospital or clinic, though. At least now you‘re all set!
@Christine, I’m sure you got the vaccine! If it didn’t go in, the syringe would not have been empty, and the two providers would’ve noticed that and been obligated to act.
@snappy, So glad you get to see your mother now and hope she’s doing ok.
Glad to see so many have had their shots and that this thread has been so helpful! Way to go
@mom2rtk!
