Have you ever TP someone's yard?

Would you be mad if someone did it to your yard? My 14 yr. old DS has been talking about this lately with his friends and I keep saying no, no, no. These days people call the police over everything! He says they'll go the next day and clean it up themselves. I told him to do it to our own backyard, clean it up in the morning and maybe it will be out of his system. How would you handle this situation?

BTW I never TP anyone's yard when I was a kid/teen.

Yes, I have TPed people's houses. However, we always chose homes where we knew the people who lived in them, and knew that they would not call the cops.

If someone did it to my yard, I would be annoyed, but I would not call the cops over it!

I don't know how I would handle your situation if I was a parent...I don't know that I would TP anyone's home ever again...twice was enough to get it out of me when I was 13...

I did it in High School. I wouldn't recommend it now as some people are liable to shoot first and ask questions later.

I gotta agree with Grog - Times have changed & people are more likely to over-react.....
We used to do that alot as kids - again - the key was knowing which house to do it too....

Nope, I've never tp'd anyone's yard.

My SO's nephew and his group of yahoo's get in the mood to tp our yard (as well as the other brothers' yards) every now and then. Kinda irks me. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't lazy about their rolling. They have left entire rolls in the trees (non streaming).

I bet Ricola has though.:teeth:

When I coached the cheerleaders in my town, I have been sort of there but not really.. I did not do the TP'ing, but I did drive the underage cheerleaders.. They always TP the varsity players the night before the first game... So I guess my answer is sort of.

Yeah, I TPed my share of yards in my youth. One time a friend and I decided to TP another buddy's car. We mummified his car in TP -- it was a little Plymouth Champ so it only took two rolls to cover. :) The crowning touch -- the other guy wrote a note on an empty roll and left it on the antenna inside an inflated condom. :teeth: The buddy's brother saw it the next morning, told him, and he got to it (especially the crowning touch) before his parents saw.

Harmless pranks then, but I agree with Grog and Leota -- times are different now and someone might come out with guns blasting, especially at night and if they can't see what you're doing.

but our son did several times with friends, and his friends TP'd our house several times too. One time they "forked" the yard too (filled the front yard with plastic forks, stuck in the ground). Our son always had to clean it up. :D I've read in our local newspaper about people calling the police when their houses have been TP'd and I just think that is so ridiculous! I mean, if the kids vandalized the house or something that would be different, but just to throw a few rolls of toilet paper up into some trees, come on!! Let kids be kids, there is nothing harmful in TP'ing. I just don't see the big deal about it.

I never TP'd anyone's house. Our town was so small that the police cruiser was bound to come by, and they knew where everyone belonged. Once a friend left his car parked in our yard over the weekend (since our house was very close to the school) while he went away on an overnight field trip. My sister and I tried to paint stuff on his car windows with shoe polish, but the police came by and made us stop because they knew it wasn't our car.

I did it once or twice in high school. My older sister wanted to but was afraid of getting caught if she did someone else's house so she & her friend asked my parents if they could TP our house & then they would clean it up. I just didn't understand how that would be any fun.:)

I never TPd anyone in high school, but our house sure gets TPd now. My DS, a senior, is on the cross country team and it is tradition that the girls team get the boys team. In fact our house got TPd about 3 weeks ago. I even posted it on the DIS. We have been TP'd, forked, bird seed, tuna, had DS car seran wrapped shut, and of course messages left in chalk. It is all done in fun. Of course I don't clean it up, we make DS do it.

TIP: You can remove the toilet paper easily by lighting it with a match/lighter and it burns up into the tree(only the TP burns). But three weeks ago everything was so dry we wouldn't let the boys do that so they used our power washer. Worked Great!!!!!

Once, in High School, we TP'ed our Softball Coaches' house.

She figured out who was responsible and we had to clean it up.

It was a return prank for something she made us do during practice. That was the last time I TP'ed anyone's house!

I agree with the other posters who said things are different today. You just don't know what the person in the house is going to do. Especially since some people are quick to call the police and file lawsuits.

We would do all sorts of stuff like that. A group of the guys were always against a group of the girls and we would plot against each other. I woke up to my car shaving creamed with hot dogs stuffed in the door jams one morning. We TP'd them one night while they were having a party and wrapped Saran Wrap around the posts at the end of the driveway.

When I think about it now, I think it is almost sad that times have changed. It was always in good fun and the parents always seemed to laugh it off as it was the kids out cleaning it up the next morning. My dad saw the guys shaving cream my car and he didn't wake me up!! I guess maybe some kids have taken good fun too far and ruined it for everyone. Seems to be the case with everything.

Ahhhh Chipperdini reminded me of forking...we used to do that too! I was so awful because I get nervous giggles and I would always start laughing hysterically when we were trying to be quiet doing these things. LOL Memories...*sigh* :D

Yes, all the time! After every football game my senior year of high school, we TP'ed houses!! :teeth: And I had mine TP'ed plenty of times, too. :teeth:

Have them TP a relative's house.. j/k...lol, I have never TP'ed anyone's house....

I can truthfully say that I never have.

Oh I did in HS, although not as much as some people did. Now in the HS where I teach, the cheerleaders do the varsity football guys before home games, esp. homecoming and the last game. It's fun to drive in on Friday and drive by football players homes and see what a good or bad TP job the girls have done.

Never tp-ed but did lots of pranks as teens. The big one was tic-tac-ing, throwing corn kernels at people's doors and running away. We did smoke bombs on front porches. One time after a field hockey picnic we took the leftover potato salad and stuffed it in a girl's mailbox who had said some not so nice things about another player. I had a friend who was a wrestler and he and I were always playing jokes on each other. The best one he did to me, was when he got all the players to pick up my VW Beetle and moved it on the front lawn of the high school. I retaliated by getting his locker combination from his girlfriend and lining the inside of his locker with fresh new sanitary napkins. When he threw open his locker door the whole hallway got a big laugh.
