Haunted Mansion problem today

She said they were stuck there for an hour and five minutes.
Well, I did some checking today... and I can confirm for a fact that on Monday, July 20th, the WDW Haunted Mansion didn't stop any longer than for just a few minutes.

Sorry. I don't want to cast aspersions on anyone's character, but as I (and others) suspected, it didn't happen.

Buzz - glad to hear nothing serious happened on HM on Monday.

I've been stuck on several rides at disneyworld. On Splash Mountain the log stopped just past the outdoor area in front where you get splashed by the dropping logs. I was able to watch the fireworks while we were stopped. It had to have been close to a half hour wait.

A few years ago DH and I were on ToT and it malfunctioned at the end of the drop sequence where the "welcome back" film shows. We sat there for less than 10 minutes. They took us through a CM area and let us reride. Most people passed but we were happy to go again.

Two years ago we were on Pirates right before you enter the fiery jail cell area and the ride stopped for a good 20 minutes. Apparently they were unable to get it moving again so the CMs donned Pirates themed chest high waders and pushed the boats to spots where a gangplank could be put out and we could exit the ride through backstage areas. I have some fuzzy pictures of a CM in his pirates wading gear.

Of course, nearly every ride we've been on has stopped for the occasional 5 min or less to load a guest or some other minor incident.

I couldn't agree more.. I have had several ride break down experiences, they all seem to "feel" like much longer but in fact are not. I highly doubted that if there was no "true emergency" that CM's would keep guests sitting a full hour and 5 minutes on a simple, "walk out" ride. there are emergency exits all around if needed. I'm sure it just "felt" like that long if the rider was with a 5 year old that was annoying her! :lmao:

i feel for her. i mean i personally probably won't "freak out" esp...as a pp said...if i was stuck in front of the ballroom scene. I also could sit and just stare at that for probably an hour haha :3dglasses but having a young kid w/ her could be nerve wracking. I know when i was younger some parts of hm creeped me out. plus now that i'm older i would probably think worst case situation as well (someone got seriously hurt, crazy person roaming around the ride, etc.) but i don't think there is a need to "freak out". I hope your friend enjoys the rest of her vacation! She shouldn't let this get to her or make her never ride it again. These things happen  :flower3:

i remember getting stuck on splash mountain for quite some time at the part w/ the little girl rabbit on her front porch....let's just say we were singing that tune the rest of the day

Tee hee, I got stuck on Carousel of Progress between scenes.. then we got to see the "not so magical" back side of that ride!

I actually enjoyed being on a stopped ride - two trips ago... we were on The Great Movie Ride...a doofus was taking flash photos -- had been warned twice, the first time very politely, the 2nd time not so politely - 2nd time it was "Sir you have already been warned about the flash. Turn your flash off now." The third time, the CM doing the "tour" stopped the car near an exit, hopped off, went through the door & we just sat about 5 minutes. She came back with 2 WDW security guys & they escorted the guy & his family off the ride...doofus just kept saying "what? What?" while his wife was yelling at him non-stop about how he wrecked it for the kids. We applauded the CM as she got the ride going again.

That is AWESOME. Good for that CM! People taking flash pictures on dark rides drives me CRAZY.

My husband still talks about the time he was stuck on Space Mountain for a good 45 minutes when he was a kid. They turned the lights on and ended up walking them out. He said it was amazing, lol.

I've been on a few rides that have stopped, but none longer than a few minutes that I can recall at Disney World. I have been on the Safari when a giraffe decided to just stand in front of our truck for what had to be at least 10 minutes, lol.

Then there was the time *I* caused a ride to stop. I got, uh, violently ill on the Teacups as a kid and they stopped the ride. It wasn't pretty! It's funny... there isn't a ride anywhere I won't ride, I'm a big coaster nut - but I refuse to ride the Teacups! It's the devil's ride, I tell you.

All of this has made me think back to the time that my family was stuck on an attraction at WDW. Now, while I do sympathize with those stuck on It's a Small World, I think that our own experience was even more torturous. We were stuck on Carousel of Progress, in the turn of the century room, for four plays. Finally, when my husband was about to pluck his eyeballs out, they let us out. That was the only neat part, seeing the behind the scenes stuff. I still can't get "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow..." out of my head!:cool1:

EVERY TIME we ride COP, some nimrod decides to get up and "exit" at some point in one of the rooms, not realizing the room has moved and the exits no longer line up with where we started (even though there's a warning). So we always end up seeing at least one scene at least twice. One time a guy got up and took off through the "exit." The scene replayed. Then on the second play, another person (this one must have been a real genius) got up and walked through the "exit" as well. Talk about torture! And yet we continue to ride. :confused3

I can understand how long it feels to be stopped in a dark ride, though. I used to work in the "haunted" dark ride attraction at a local amusement park, and every once in a while some teenager would jump out of one of the cars. The ride had to be e-stopped, and we had to go retrieve the kid (which usually involved hustling, if not running, back to their location so they didn't damage anything and urging guests to stay seated). We had to call security then to eject the kid from the park and maintenance had to come restart the ride, after a thorough check to make sure everyone was still seated. And every once in a while, a parent with a freaked-out kid, or one who had to go to the bathroom, or someone who just wasn't interested in waiting/following directions, would climb out of their car too, thus starting the process all over again. I always felt so bad for the parents with scared children when this was going on. Now that I'm a parent myself, I can understand how you'd be a little freaked out if your child was scared and panicking and you had no control over the situation.

I never got stuck on Space Mountain but I have been stopped on WEDway (ok, TTA if you insist) while inside of Space Mountain while the lights happened to be on. That was great. I was sorry when the ride started moving again.

I had a very sad and scared feeling. I didn't know why this would happen on this ride.

I also get a sad feeling whenever I ride IASW... but the family insists on riding it anyway. I think it's the song. :rolleyes1

A good bit of the time when you hear a CM tell you that an attraction's temporarily closed for "technical difficulties" they really mean "Guest Shenanigans". You'd be amazed at what I've seen some Guests do (like the guy who didn't understand that his kid wouldn't be allowed to ride BTMR while standing up in his seat).

my friend and i got stuck on TTA last august for 40 minutes at like 11:00PM. And of course it was during the inside portion of the ride so we didnt even have anything to look at and of course not even the inside protion near SPace Mountain.....teh inside portion where theres nothing. It would have been so much better if we had been outside and could look over magic kingdom.

At lest on HM theres something to look at. My friend and i ended up taking some really funny pictures of each othe rthough during this time. But 45 minutes of "please stay seated, the ride will begin momentarily" is enough to drive anyone crazy....and it was a full ride. We were all going crazy.

BUT...we did all get a fastpass good for any ride in magic kingdom. We used them during EMH that night.

I would have loved that too! oh, and I STILL call the TTA, the "people mover". TTA just gets stuck coming out. Even my kids call it people mover and their friends are like, "huh"?:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I was thrilled when I got stuck on HM last month. I was in the middle of the ballroom scene. The ride stopped for about 10 minutes. I was sad when it started up again!

Last November we were stuck on the first incline up into Splash Mountain for over 30 minutes! I honestly thought my neck was going to snap. There is no head support. It was physical torture!
Disney should have given us massages after that one.
We didn't even get a return fast pass. Ugh.

We were there last August when it stopped for us to about the same time! That would be cool if we were on the ride at the same time. We had just gotten on, and it was branching off around the corner right by the camera monitor when it stopped. The monitor shows people who are in the dark farther up in the ride and we could all see a couple making out(among other things)everyone else around us who could see the monitor were laughing their heads off!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best ride I ever had was when the Haunted Mansion Ride stopped at the ballroom!!!! We finally got to sit and really see all the action! :cloud9:So much is going on - it's impossible to take it in when riding by it. I love it when a ride stops! You finally really get to see all the MAGIC!:wizard:
