The majority of PIs require you to have done a CP first.


But if you are eligible to apply for both, I would say that you most likely would have to call and decline the CP.

This was actually debated in the PI thread. You can find it here it's post 215. They then talk about it a bit more on page 16. The general consensus seems to be accept your CP offer and then call and tell them you are no longer doing it if you get your PI. There's a bit more debating too it, but I'll leave it for you to interpret!
