Has any Canadians used a health card as ID to reboard DCL's cruise ships?

We are taking a cruise in February and coming along is a friend who does not have a drivers liscence. Can she use her health card as form of I.D. to reborad the ship since the take our passports? Has anyone here actually used their health card? Thanks.

When I did a cruise the ship gave out ship ID to everyone. That is what was used to reboard the ship. I would assume DCL would do something similar.

DCL doesn't currently issue photo Id. I think they're talking about doing it in the future, but currently, you need to have some with you.

Could she not get a provincial id? I know in Alberta if you don't have your driver's/learners permit you can apply for a Alberta id card. Last year my dd turned 18 and at the time didn't have any picture id besides passport and of course she wanted to go to the bar for her 18th b-day, we went to the registries office and they provided her with a card (took 10 days to get in the mail). Once she received her learners permit they did take her Alberta id away, as you can't have both.

I do not know if they will take her health card as ID. I know that in my job we can't use the health card as acceptable ID. I would call DCL to confirm but I would also suggest that she get an age of majority card.

In order to reboard DCL all adults need photo ID and their Key to the World card. Kids need their Key to the World card.

We took a cruise in January 07 with my MIL who did not have any photo ID other than her passport. No drivers licence and the old red & white OHIP card which has no photo. We took a colour photocopy of her passport and she used that and her Key to the World card for getting on and off the ship.

Here in NS, if you don't have a DL, you can get the same card as a DL - with your picture on it - to use as a picture ID card.

Has "This is for ID purposes only" or some such thing written on it, and costs $10-$15.

We got them for our kids. Works great:thumbsup2

HTH!!

The ship I worked on (not a DCL ship, mind you) gave Canadian passengers a photocopy of their passport for re-boarding purposes.

Not sure if DCL would do the same...

All I needed was my KTW (Key to the World) card. I am pretty sure I didn't use ID.

We just took a cruise on DCL in March 2007 on the Disney Magic. If you do not have photo ID, they will give you a copy of your passport to use to reboard the ship along with your key to the world card.

You will have a great trip.
