Hakuna Matata - Fantastic in February

FYI, Lynn does a great job keeping up here, LOL it is a good project for her.

Scott, good to see you wandering about the team site. Come by anytime. I won't tell people you got a GPS for your stationary bike. :)

Vicky, I have some important racing next year, the National Senior Olympics and the USATF Masters Championship 5K to qualify forn the World Cup. If I'm going to be at my best I don't need to be coming back in recovery mode but I need to come back ready to train hard. This year was ok even with the Goofy but next year needs to be better. I was having to baby my bad achillies for about 3 weeks. I'm just this last week been really pushing it. I can do a half or a full without any problem but both back to back with little sleep between takes a toll.

Today was a mile and a half warmup, 4 miles in 45:02, then a mile cool down. I met another race walker so had company.

Everyone injured heal up quick and get back at it. Mike you are a machine!

Dave:hippie:

Have a great trip Scott and Lynn can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Vicky: I just went to a walk in clinic cause my family dr wasn't avail. He listened and poked around and said nothing seemed inflammed and thinks I just pulled a muscle but it if still hurts in a week to go back for xrays. I think it is starting to feel a bit better but not 100% pain free. Our itunes has disappears off my computer but think my ipods are still OK, can ask DS about his iphone.

Don't think we are doing anything for Valentines Day either. To me it is a hallmark holiday I would prefer Mike do something nice for me because he wants to surprise me not because Hallmark decides he should.

Kipp: I hear there are a few people heading to Chicago for the RnR in July:thumbsup2
...
I haven't decided yet if we will be at POP or the new value resort. I think I will wait for some reviews about buses. Mike seems to think both resorts will share buses. I hope not POP buses are usually pretty busy as it is. Have a great Monday all

I've been looking at trying to get up to Chicago to do an event. With the budget this year, it'll be very tight if I do manage it.

I may be in D.C. over Memorial day visiting friends and I'll be in Florida for Thanksgiving and the following week visiting family.

Keep in mind that most of the new Art of Animation resort will be value suites. I think they've stated that only 1 building will be standard rooms.

Yep, my budget isn't very happy about Disney trips either, that's why I'm cutting down to one race a year there. I plan on a few destination races this year and one of them was killer expensive for the hotel, that was downtown Indy for the Mini. On the 31st of March I'm doing a 10 miler in Louisville Ky, the Papa John's 10 miler, it's a bargin $25 entry fee and a days inn right there for $57 a night.

I'm up and getting ready to head out for my training walk. Probably another 4 miler at a moderate pace since tomorrow is another brutal 10 miler with sprints the last 3 miles.

I'm hoping to start getting free dinning, if so I'll stay in a moderate resort for the Sept, non race but just play trip. Be nice to get it in January also like Kim and Mike did.

Have a magical day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Sending hugs and smiles to my favorite racing team! :woohoo:

Have a fun day! Give yourself permission to have a treat! Share a laugh with a good friend. Have a fun run! Make it a day to remember. :goodvibes

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Remind me when we get back and I will post the recipe. Yes, we have club access at all our layovers.

Dave - Good luck with the training!

Kim - We will have a great trip.

Elizabeth- Good Luck with all the Girl Scout cookies!

AFM - We did get out for COLD walk yesterday - wind was really icy! Today we are headed to Denver after breakfast - may make it to the Zoo if it is not too cold (high there supposed to be 26F today).

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Happy Valentines Day team!

Lynn - I just realized that one of my CC gave me lounge access at a few airports. But I'm thinking those lounges probably aren't as nice as the FF lounges. Though I'm happy if i can grab a coffee or water while I'm there. Safe travels!

Scott - I see you on FB but it's nice to see you posting here as well! Safe travels :)

Rick - Love you idea of going out for a run with a friend!

Dave - Yes, racing is getting expensive. I think it's because the idea of completing a half or full has become so popular. I'm hoping for free dining as well.

Kim - I had to "restore" my iPhone and then the songs came back. It was annoying because I supposedly backed it up before I did a restore and it didn't save some of my texts. Grr! Hope your ribcage is feeling better today pixiedust:

Elizabeth - Good luck with the Girl Scout cookies! It sounds like a handful! pixiedust: for your back! Have you thought about doing run/walk intervals for the race?

AFM - Just wanted to tell everyone who runs on the road to be careful! I was out last night for a 3 miler. I watched some guy completely blow a stop sign because he was texting or doing something on his phone. Luckily it was a quiet residential street and no one was crossing or making a turn but it would have been bad otherwise. I'm going for a training session tonight and then will try to get in another 3 miles on the TM afterward.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

FYI

Disneyland Half Marathon – 84%
Disneyland Family Fun Run 5K – 74%
Stroller Division – SOLD OUT
runDisney Kids' Races – 64%

Vicky most of our local 5ks, 10Ks and halfs are $20 or less to enter. I'm not going to do that many expensive races over the next couple of years. The races I will be doing are going to be races that have a competitive walk catagory or just a fun weekend get a way for my racing team. Thant's what the Indy half is, we just had to pay a bunch for the hotel, the race entry fee for the Indy 5k and half both totaled $85. The Senior Games are $65 and the National Senior Olympics is about $100 for up to 5 events. If I break the American record I'm shooting at then I'll be in the history book.

The Disney Marathon is the exception since that will be a vacation and a race combined. I can do one race that expensive because of where it is but other races are getting to high. Nashville late registration is as much as Disney.

On a happier note I do still love Disney and will be there for all the festivities with the team in January even if I only do one race. Are we signed up for Konga Toast on Friday morning yet?

Dave:hippie:

Happy Valentine's Day to a great team!:lovestruc

Lynn: have a good trip!

Rick: I took your suggestion and enjoyed a Hershey's Kiss!

Kim: feel better soon.

Dave: What moderate do you prefer? I've only stayed value and deluxe (1x at WL) so far. Staying at POFQ for the Princess and I'm looking forward to it.

AFM: No big plans for the day. Dh (David) and I are planning to watch a movie (if I can stay awake long enough) and just enjoy being with each other. I have PT this evening then I plan to go out for a run.

Yes, Vicky, I'm going to do run/walk intervals for the race; just trying to decide what to attempt. Hopefully tonight's run will help with that. After all, it is 10 days until Princess!

Happy Valentine’s Day all

I have been having problems getting runs in since late last week. This weekend, we had by a snowstorm with freezing rain, followed by very cold temperatures. So the snow is hard as a rock so the city has been very slow clearing it, especially the walkways. So running outside is not very safe. The relative whose treadmill I use is out of town…yes I know I should to get my own, but really don’t have the space for it. The track at the University I sometimes go to was closed for a children’s winter festival. On top of that, the prospect of me running for the next week or so doesn’t look good either. My whole family is sick with a nasty cold…I fear I am on borrowed time until I get it.

Ok, sorry, mini-rant over. It is not all doom and gloom I guess. I am getting some good intense circuit training in and still been eating super clean, and am now within 4 pounds of my New Year’s weight goal. 4 more lbs until my self-imposed total ban on alcohol and unhealthy food is lifted. But at this point, I am not even sure I have any desire for even just a little bit of naughtiness once I do reach my goal.

Anyways, another question for Goofy runners in particular: please tell me what you do after you finish the half until you go to bed. My usual ritual after a half used to be watching football or a movie and gorging on pizza, hot wings, and beer (and lots of it). I am thinking that wouldn’t be such a great idea with a full marathon the next day! So what do you do? After the stretching and ice baths that is. Do you go to parks? Laze around the pool?

My favorite moderate so far is the Coranado, I didn't care for the Cribbian Beach's food area but really like the one at Coranado. I might try the Port Orleans I've heard good things about it.

Question: To get free dinning do you have to get a package that includes room and park tickets? I have an annual pass was hoping to just get room and free dining.

After the half I go home take a hot shower and a couple of Advil and then take a couple of hour nap. Then off to the parks for some easy fun and a good dinner, then I'm in bed about 8pm.

This morning is the brutal ten miler, I may live through it, last time I did this workout I was much stronger the next week. I'm hoping for the same results this time.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Good morning team!!

Dave: Yes you have to buy park tickets but it is usually just a day or two and you can do the base tickets to save money.

Robbie: I have only done goofy once and because I was dealing with some horrible PF we just went back to the room and iced etc then hung out at the pool, I had decided that night that I couldn't go the full the next day was just in too much pain so slept like a log but got up in the morning and decided to give it a go. So really that response was no help at all :headache: However, if injury free will do similar to Dave just I am not a napper so just ice shower and head back out to keep the legs loose but no rides unless there are no lines....I find the standing hurts my PF more then walking.

AFM: Been a slug this week have really tried to rest because of whatever is causing the pain in my side and it seems to be working feels much better I feel a bit of a pull if I stand at a certain angle but only very slight so I am thinking it is muscle.

My local gym is doing a 12 week biggest loser challenge and I am going to sign in tomorrow it starts Monday;

I may be solo in January...get this....Mike said he is getting bored of going to disney.....this may be grounds for divorce. I am contacting a lawyer today;)

Hey all! Hope everyone had a great valentine's day. Except for fun stuff with our son, dh and I are pretending 3/3 is valentine's day bc that's the soonest we could get our babysitter - we haven't been out since June, 2011! crazy right?

I just finished three days in a row of running 6.2 miles each day. It felt good. I really feel like I'm finally back on track. I also have lost five pounds since 1/1 which makes me very happy - if I keep it off, I only have 5 more pounds until the goal I made for myself on 5/1/11!!:cool1:

windwalker - I would totally recommend POFQ. It's my fave moderate. Small, great food court, intimate - we went there for our honeymoon in 1998 and then stayed there again with our son in 2010 and loved it both times!

LB - totally understand the lack of running. I was having that problem too. I am sending good karma you don't get a cold!

hockeychic - my dh also said no more disney after 12/10 - and then this racing thing started. although he is not racing in 2013, he demanded that I do it- dh and ds will be coming though.

bunnyfoo - how scary what happened! i run early mornign before the light, so that's something I'm always scared of. glad you are alright.

I was getting ready to sign up for a local marathon here in october but the price has gone up to $70!:scared1: I thought running was supposed to be a cheap sport? the half I signed up for in rochester was $60:scared1: I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

BTW, anyone know a NE 30k race? I would love to do one bw april and september to get one in before the october marathon.

Hi Team!

Hope everyone had a great Valentines day! We worked and hardly saw each other. Will probably do dinner at Olive Garden this weekend.

Kimberly~ Great job getting your runs in! We are thinking of doing a race in Worcester, MA in June. The MIL lives in Oxford. It has me a little aprehesive, as the website doesn't seem very organized and is lacking in some important information.

Kim~ Tell Mike that you can hang on my free arm in January. Liz won't mind! :goodvibes

Robbie~ I went and did some shopping at DTD to keep busy and keep my legs moving a bit, after the half. After the full we had a team meal and went to the Magic Kingdom as a big group!

Scott~ Hi there!

Dave~ I stayed at Port Orleans twice in the Alligator Bayou section. The resort itself is beautiful. The service is downright horrible. The one time I got assigned a room that looked like a brawl had taken place in it. It was trashed, pictures knocked off the wall, things overturned, etc. The food court is also chaotic. The checkout lines cross into the food counter lines and because the resort is so big, empty tables are hard to find during busy hours. I will never stay there again.

Vicky~ I'm glad you are okay! My green beans were in a frozen dinner so they were nuked. This year the only PR I'm going for is a 2 hour half marathon. :thumbsup2

AFM~ After work, I got Robert off to school today and then layed down to sleep. I had no luck with that because my brain was too busy contemplating life, my cancer, love, relationships and God. So, I got up and ran five miles at the gym on the treadmill. I've been up twenty hours now, and I'm still not tired. Where is this energy when I need it? The run went well. My weight has been stuck for a couple of days now. I think it was all the V. Day cookies and cupcakes laying around taunting me until I ate them...

- Mike :cool2:

Hey, just a suggestion...could everyone sign their name after their postings if they are comfortable with doing so? It make it so much easier on nitwits like me!

I might try the Port Orleans I've heard good things about it.

Question: To get free dinning do you have to get a package that includes room and park tickets? I have an annual pass was hoping to just get room and free dining.

I've stayed at both French Quarter and Riverside. I like French Quarter much better. FQ is smaller, and the food court there was less hectic than it was in Riverside.

I really liked running there. It was nice running along the river between FQ and Riverside.

What my family usually ends up doing for "Free Dining" is to get a 1 day pass and then we apply that pass to our annual passes. If it's not near your renewal time, I'm not sure how you'd handle it.

I'm finally getting back into a pattern for my running. I ran Sunday, a 4 mile run on the treadmill at an "easy" 4mph pace.

I then ran Tuesday and varied it up alot. I once again did 4 miles, but with an average time of under 16 minute miles! I would do a 1/4 mile walk, 1 mile jog with 1/4 mile of it at a higher pace than I normally do. I did that over again a few times more to total out the run to 4 miles. The max I hit was 5mph on the treadmill-o-doom. The 2nd stint I maxed it at 4.7 mph then the last stint I did the 5mph again.

My planned days for running will now be Tue, Thur and Saturday. I'll keep Sundays as my fall back day if Saturday turns out to be too hectic.

Hi team! Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day :)

Kip - I like running on Saturdays instead of Sundays if I can. Sunday is a good fall back day in case there's bad weather on Saturday or whatever. I haven't stayed in PO but liked FQ too. If you don't use the tickets from FD, they're good indefinitely and then you can choose to apply them to your AP renewal on a later date or for a different trip.

Mike - You mean I can't be bunnyfoo :( LOL Lots of deep thoughts, did the run help to clear your head? That's one of the reasons I like running, it's great "me" time and I always enjoy the time to think things over. Yay! I'm shooting for that 2 hour half as well! Well I have 3 chances this year, you can pace two of them LOL

Kimberley - There's a 30K in Toronto at the end of August. That's the only one I know of. The other is in March in Hamilton, ON. I know neither are close.

Yeah the driver going through the stop sign was scary! It makes me nervous running on the road sometimes!

Great job on the weight loss so far and the three days of 6 milers! That's awesome!!

Kim - Tired of Disney? Ok I know the feeling but I love doing the races because of all the WISH'ers! Well you know who else is going solo ... so if you need a roommate... Just sayin :cutie:

How was the 'The Vow'?

Dave - This year for the dining package, I had to get two day tickets. It was cheaper for me to get tickets through the WWoS link so I did that. As long as you don't use the tickets, they're good forever.

I've stayed at Coronado, Caribbean Beach and FQ. My favourite was FQ for the theming, the beignets in the food court and it has a hot tub! You can also book a carriage ride at night which is really romantic! The bus service is crap because it's shared with Riverside. I liked Coronado because it has queen sized beds and a gym. I think it was also walkable to the mini golf course.

We can definitely go to Kona Cafe again :thumbsup2

Elizabeth - How was your run? Smaller intervals like 3/1 or 4/1 might work well for you.

AFM - Apparently I made the mistake of working out on Valentines Day. My trainer had some crazy exercises ... we did the pushing the sandbag exercise but he added in 5 pushups every ten steps and then there was another exercise that incorporated ropes and jump squats. Oh well I guess I burned off the treats and I got a mini massage afterward. So that was good.

Today I went to see a chiropractor to have my running assessed. He's going to help me incorporate some exercises to try and prevent running injuries. I might as well do it now before something happens LOL He watched me run for a bit and suggested that I could try lengthening my stride a bit to make my running more efficient. I always thought longer strides was more work but I'll give it a try the next time time I'm outside running.

I want to see 'The Woman in Black' this weekend. It looks creepy!

Have a great night everyone!

Vicky, Kevin saw that women in black movie said it was super creepy and he likes all the paranormal activity movies so I know I won't see it.

The Vow was ok but I would wait for it to come out on DVD

Dave no trip to disney is complete without Tonga Toast

MIke thanks for the free arm offer, I am sure he will get over it I guess cause we where just there but he is insisting now that he is "only" doing the half so I told him he can't wear his trainning for the disney 2013 marathon:lmao:

Thanks for the info on the French Quarter, and the ticket requirement Still not sure where I'll end up yet, depends on what kind of deal I can get. I guess I'll do the free dining if offered next January then since our annual passes will be expired by marathon weekend.

Yesterday's workout was amazing. We did 7 moderate miles and then did sprints of 50m, 100m and 150m the whold last 3 miles with a 50m recovery in between each sprint. This year is more intense for sure. In can only imagine what racing season is going to be like. We hit speeds up to 8:12 per mile pace during the 150m sprints. Pretty quick foot speed for walking. I did recover very quickly and feel very good today, but I'm going to rest and get a good recovery.

Have an awesome day y'all.
