Hakuna Matata - Fantastic in February

BTW, where is everyone intending to stay for the 2013 1/2 and full? We just got our reservations at BLT so I'm pretty psyched - love it there!:thumbsup2

Good question, was wondering that myself.
I think I will be going solo and really don't think I will be hanging around the resort much to take advantage of amenities, so was thinking one of the Values. Never stayed at one before, but from the message boards, I think Pop Century is the most popular...so I'll probably go with that.

I am pretty sure that we will be staying at the POP Century again for 2013.

Hi Kids!

Happy Friday! How's everybody doing?

Dave~ Way to rock the training! Isn't it great when those magical days happen and all the training comes together! These are the days we earn by getting out there on the days when we would rather not. :thumbsup2

Robbie~ Everyone has days when we struggle on a run after having a great one right before. There is so many factors that can alter our bodies and we are not even aware of alot of them. A rough day makes the good days feel all that much more special!

Emily~ Have fun in the ballet classes!

Kimberly~ I work overnights and have a six year old son, so I know how busy life can get. A week of not running will not hurt your training. It might actually help your body rest and the next run might be great! Fitness levels do not fall away quickly.

Lynn~ I've been absent- when are you leaving on the Greece cruise? Are you still going to Africa? It sounds like Scott has a little cabin fever.

Vicky~ I can't believe the running clinic group wouldn't move over for you as you ran by. I think you needed me there to bust a path through them! You know how I am about that!:rolleyes1

AFM~ I got out for a 5.3 mile run yesterday with Liz. It felt good and I wanted to run again today, but when I woke up, I found that its snowing heavily and the roads are bad. Ah well, it just means more sleep for me. I will get out tomorrow after work, or on the treadmill at the gym.
I'm down to 221 from 228.5 a couple of weeks ago. If I can get a regular workout schedule to actually work, more will come off. (Vicky -thanks for the nice comments! :) )
We will probably be staying at the POP for marathon weekend in 2013, possibly the new Animation resort. I think it will be in walking distance of the POP and we can get a family suite. I do really like the POP because of the close proximity to the expo and the WISH meets right at the resort. It will depend on the cost difference. We have so many trips planned this year, 2013 is vaguely on the radar...

Train one everyone! - Mike :cool2:

*lurk mode off*

Since I met some of you at the 2012 Marathon Weekend, I've been dropping in and reading some of the messages. :)

I'm planning for Pop Century again also. I did like how the bus trip from Pop to the Expo was a very short trip. Since I caught the 1st busses to the 1/2, that trip also didn't seem to take very long at all either.

Hello Kipp and welcome. I read a little of your blog and saw that your having some motivation issues. I do some writing on facebook you might find interesting on a page tittled Eastern Walking. You can find me and most of the other team there also. For me look for Dave Kirgan and then the Panda logo.

I'm resting today, 2 PRs in one week tell me two things. One is my training and the changes I made are working even better than planned. Two it's time to rest and not take a chance in whacking anymore body parts.

It's turned cold again here in Ky, as I'm sure it has for a lot of you, fortunately the snow that was in our forcast never happened. But still from the 50's down to the 20s is a big jump.

Hope everyone has a magical weekend.

Dave:hippie:

Happy Saturday!

Just a quick post. Heading to the slopes in a few.
Cold here today with snow....finally!
Busy at work and having a very hard time trying to post.

Lynn, How long is your flight? What city(s) do you go via? I'm not sure I will have time to post next week. Have a fantastic trip and safe travels.

Dave, Nice workouts you are having:thumbsup2

Kimberly, We are DVC haven't decided on what resort for January yet. Nice score on BLT it's the only one we haven't stayed at yet.

Emily, Do you do any yoga? I find it does make a difference on flexibility.

Have a great weekend. Stay warm...............Sue

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - I think we have gotten whimppy with the mild winter, I was commenting yesterday when we were out that it was actually normal winter conditions, it just felt extreme because it had been so warm. Yes, we got pretty much packed last weekend - there are a few things to add, I am going to make some home made “energy bars” for “plane food” (and train food), just putting that off so they will be fresher. And, of course, we are always thinking of something else to add. Sorry you are still having sleeping issues after dragonboat practice.

Dave - Congrats on your good time! Good luck bringing it down to the 9’s!

Tandy - I am just the opposite - I learned to swim before I learned to walk - never was too much for lying on a beach or beach activities, other than walking along the shore at the ocean. Any chance that DH will get into running (or walking) himself?

Mike - Greece is in June 2013, we are leaving for South Africa next week. Scott gets cabin fever on a regular basis.

Kipp - Hello and welcome!

Kimberly - We usually stay at OKW, it will be either there or AKL. We don’t race, if we go, it will be to see folks and maybe volunteer at registration.

Robbie - Small races are fun! Just go prepared with your own water and food! Pop Century is very popular among the running crowd!

Emily - The Magic is going to Europe in 2013 - which is why we are doing the cruise to Greece - if you have cruised before, the transatlantic ones are great - if you like sea days (we do), and Barcelona is a great city. Scott refused to even try cruising until Disney built a ship - now we are working on cruise #24! (or is it #25?) Have fun with the ballet!

AFM - Got out for wintery walk yesterday, and 45 min on spin bike. Woke today to about 4 inches of snow, that actually fell straight down instead of blowing away, so we will spend some time cleaning driveway and walks.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Sue - Thanks, we will have a great time! You must have posted while my reply was in limbo this morning - it took about 20 min from time I tried to post until it finally went thru! We are flying via Washington DC and Senegal on the way down and thru Frankfurt on the way back. I am not sure exactly how long flights are, but both ways it takes 2 days! There are significant layovers in Wash DC and in Frankfurt, Scott just figured it out, 19 hrs flight time on way down, 21 hrs flight time on the way back.

Hi Team!

Just a quick check in today. I got 5.25 miles done on the treadmill today. The last quarter mile I bumped it up to 8.3 mph which was a 7:13 pace. Tomorrow, Rick and I are planning 10 miles, after I work all night...:upsidedow

I found out today that there are a bunch of WISHERS going to the Little Rock marathon, so I won't be as alone as I thought! :thumbsup2

As part of my healty eating, today I ate a small amount of green beans. I hate green beans, but survived. Don't tell anyone!

- Mike :cool2:

Hi gang quick check in.

Haven't been getting alot of workouts in this week. I think I have pulled something just below or around my left ribcage. Went to a walk in clinic and he didn't seem to worried about it but been over a week now and driving me nuts. I have been getting in some intervals but that's about it.

Tomorrow I am starting back up regardless. Only just over 47 weeks till marathon and about 47 pds to lose so no time to waste.

Hope everyone has been doing well. As usual I will try to catch up but you are just all so chatty lately :thumbsup2

Have a good Sunday all.

Kim

Good Morning Team!

Kim - Hope you feel better soon!

Mike - Sounds like your healthy eating is about like mine! :lmao:

AFM - Yesterdays exercise consisted of 50 min of snow shoveling. We went to a matinee of “Mama Mia”, it was really good, but, of course, no exercise when we got back. It is still really cold and snow covered, and the wind is still blowing (of course), so do not know if we will force ourselves outside today or not.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

This morning at 7am Mike and I hit the Treadmills! Wow! This is the first time either of us have actually run 10 miles on a treadmill. It made a big difference to have a running buddy to talk with and help make the miles flow more quickly.

So, many thanks to Mike for being there for 10.25 miles! We did it! :thumbsup2

:worship: I know that this is something that I'll end up having to do again... but definitely not looking forward to it! Did that 10 miles solo for my 1/2 training looking at a blank white wall in front of me for almost 3 hours. The Disney podcasts on the iPhone helped keep my mind going, but visually... brain numbingly boring! Next time I'll at least have something to watch, since I just got a 7" tablet to watch stuff on while I'm on the treadmill.

Tonight I started to watch Spirit of the Marathon. I like the movie so far, but it still hasn't inspired me to enter the WDW Full for next year!

I read your blog. I have used my iPad to watch movies while running on the treadmill too. It works pretty well. :goodvibes I think you a marathoner -- you just haven't crossed the finish line yet. You can do it.

Hi!

Lynn & Scott~ Have a wonderful trip to Africa and safe travels to you! How long will you be gone?

Kipp~ I'm glad that you will be coming back to WDW! You should come up our way and meet me and Rick for a race up here.

Kim~ PD for your rib. I hope it heals shortly! What race are you thinking about for WDW 2013? Its the 20th anniversary of the full and it will be a special medal!

AFM~ I got ten miles done on the treadmill at the gym on Sunday after working all night. Rick and I ran together and it made things go by a little quicker. I got really warm and when I got home and weighed myself, I found that I had lost 3.5 pounds of water from what I had weighed before I went to work. If only it stayed off! :upsidedow Today I think I'll give me legs a rest and work on my arms a bit.

Have a great day! - Mike :cool2:

Mike: Goin Dopey!!!!

Mike, Rick....wow 10M on the TM that is great. The most I ever did on the TM was just over 6 and that was only cause I had one of my current fav movies on.:rolleyes1

Kipp: I hear there are a few people heading to Chicago for the RnR in July:thumbsup2

Lynn: When do you guys leave? You must be super excited!!!! Say hi to Scott.

Pretty uneventful weekend here but jeezzz it goes so fast doesn't it. Going to see The Vow with some girlfriends Wednesday night, can't wait. Mike wouldn't go he said "I already seen First 50 dates":headache:

I haven't decided yet if we will be at POP or the new value resort. I think I will wait for some reviews about buses. Mike seems to think both resorts will share buses. I hope not POP buses are usually pretty busy as it is. Have a great Monday all

I'm just doing the marathon next January, I'm off the Goofy wagon. I would do the half instead if Sally were doing it with me and that's a possibility but right now we are looking at just me racing and her sleeping in then shopping.

I've lost 11 lbs now since Disney and hoping that this time next month I'll be getting close to leveling off at my training weight of 160. I'm at 176.6 right now.

I'm meeting a training partner for a 4 miler today, we will do the 4 after a mile and a half warm up then a mile cool down.

Have a magical week guys.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Dave - Good job on the weight loss!

Kim - We leave tomorrow, will say Hi to Scott - I do think he still lurks, just doesn’t post anymore.

Mike - We will be gone about 2 weeks.

Rick - I use audio books when I am on the spin bike - it keeps me interested in something - Scott will watch TV. Same for treadmill (however, I did not discover audio books until we switched to cycling).

Kipp - the tablet will help, I would never have lasted 3 hours with no TV! I used to put movies on when I trained on a treadmill - that is 2 hours of distraction.

AFM - It turned out to be pretty nice out yesterday - we were prepared for cold, but because of NO WIND!!!!, it was really nice! Got dog walk in, and 30 min on the spin bike. We are headed out tomorrow after breakfast, do not know if I will get a chance to get on the computer or not.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Happy Monday team!

Lynn - I agree with you about being wimpy about the cold weather. I remember going out running last year in 14F (-10C) temps and this year, I don't even want to go out when it's 23F and that's really not that cold for Canada. The energy bars for the plane and train sound good! I was going to ask you for the recipe but will do that when you get back. Will you and Scott have lounge access in DC?

Dave - How come you decided on the full only? I hope Sally is able to do the half! How does she feel about races and race walking? Good luck on your 4 miler today! Burn some pavement!

Kim - Yes, weekends are much too fast! At least we get Family Day next week! Yeah for a 4 day work week!

I burst out laughing when I read the '50 First Dates' comment. It's true! Mike has such a good sense of humor! I want to see 'The Vow' as well but agree that it's a movie to see with your girlfriends. My coworker was telling me a while ago that something similar happened to her cousin. He lost his memory and was in a relationship. I hope there's a least an internal bus between Pop and the Art of Animation. I'd love to check it out!

Dopey? You're hardcore Kim!! I don't know if I could get up early 3 days in a row. You know me and mornings LOL pixiedust: for your rib cage! How come the doctor wasn't concerned? Do you know how it happened?

Mike - 7:13 m/m?! I would have flown on the TM  WTG! Do you have a PB in mind for this year?

I laughed when I read your comment about the running group! Yes, I definitely could have used you there! You're tall, so they wouldn't have missed you! I hate sidewalk hogs! WTG on weight loss!

How did you prepare your green beans? They're really yummy if you cook them together with some onions, garlic, cherry tomatoes, soy sauce and a bit of sesame oil!

Rick - WTG on the early morning workout and 10 miles on a TM? Wow!

Kipp - :wave2: I don't think I met you at WDW this year but hi and nice to meet you now! You should do the full because of the anniversary medal :) I hadn't thought of using an iPad to watch shows while I'm on the TM.

Sue - How was skiing on the weekend? Saturday was really chilly with all the wind. I was loading some stuff into the car outside and hadn't put my mitts on. I could really feel it after a few minutes :( Are you going to try for BLT for January?

Elizabeth - How's your back? pixiedust:

Emily - The ballet classes sound like fun! Do you have a background in dance? A massage might help to loosen muscles but I think regular stretching really helps. I know a lot of people like yoga as well. If you go, make sure your instructor doesn't push you to stretch farther or do poses you're not comfortable doing.

AFM - This was a chilly weekend! I opted to be lazy and so I'm doing my running today and tomorrow. It's suppose to be warmer and if not, I'll have access to the gym at least. We had a weekly meeting at work moved from Tuesday to this afternoon. I think everyone wants to get out early for Valentines. Me? I'll be at the gym! How sad LOL

One of the people on the dragon boat team was telling me about a more intense workout that some of them do Saturdays. He was saying that I might find that one more challenging as opposed to the Thursday one. They're also going to start practices on Tuesdays in May so I'll have to think about it this week. I also think that it's messed up my sleep schedule somewhat because now I'm having trouble sleeping on other nights too *sigh*

Quick question - has anyone had iTunes delete their entire music library from their iPhone or iPod? It happened to me this morning. I pulled out my phone and headset on the subway and no music :( I'm assuming it the music will get replaced once I sync the phone again but it's annoying.

Hello, everyone,

I'll catch up with posts tonight but I just wanted to stop by to say hello. I still can't run more than 3 miles without pain. On the bright side that is much improved from before I began PT. I still plan to run the Princess as far as I can.

It has been crazy busy lately as the Girl Scout cookies arrived for the entire troop. My garage is FULL of them. Wish I could have run this weekend as my mood was sour after dealing with all the delivery issues, pickup issues, order issues, privileged mom issues ;), etc. Oh well, I guess I can survive until the end of cookie season in March.

Welcome Kipp!

Vicky: Never had the iPod problem you described. Good luck getting some rest!

To everyone else, congrats on the weight loss and the training! Keep it up!
