5K – 60%
Kids' Races – 51%

This is going to be a busy week so I will try to get this in fast. :rotfl:

This morning was a training run 'with a twist'. I went to the gym to do my run because today was another "minimalist' day. I did two separate runs in order to do this. I ran for 1.4 miles at a 11:00/pace with the Altras (keeping my ramp up on these nice and slow) and they felt great. :thumbsup2

Then I stopped the treadmill, and changed shoes! That is a first for me. I bet people were wondering why I was sitting on the treadmill changing my shoes! LOL

Then I ran with my regular Saucony shoes for another 3 miles. But for this run, I slowly ramped up the pace for each mile. Mile 1 at 11:00, Mile 2 at 10:40, and Mile 3 at 10:10. I wanted to go another Mile at 9:45 but I ran out of time -- I had to get showered and head into the office.

So, all in all, not a bad maintenance run for both pair of shoes!

Hope everyone has a great day! :goodvibes

Happy Wednesday, everyone,

Vicky: What did you decide about Dragon boat? Are you able to sleep now?
I forwarded the link you sent me of Dev's exercises to a friend suffering from weak glutes; she sends her thanks! :thumbsup2

Tandy: Good luck with the scholarship; the essay sounds like a good one! I never liked ethics classes either.

Rick: I read your blog post with interest. The Altras may be just what I need. Keep me posted.

AFM: My back pain is gone except when I run or sit for any length of time. I'm going to the gym tonight to see if swimming is possible (thanks for the idea Lynn) since the elliptical was painful as is just walking. Otherwise, I'll just keep doing my PT exercises.

The Princess is 2 weeks away!

Hey everyone! I've been off the grid for awhile - my son's 4th birthday party weekend extravaganza was this past weekend (dang he has a lot of friends!) plus crazy at work had me not running since last wednesday - just started back up this morning. thankfully, I knew that going in so I ran three 10k's on my treadmill M,T and W last week to compensate but was ready to run this morning. I thought everyone else was off the grid too and then saw there was a new thread - do we do a new one each month? Just want to make sure I'm keeping up with you guys!

Rented points from a DVC'er for next year and just waiting for the 11 month mark on 2/10 to hopefully reserve our studio at BLT!

I've signed up for my 4 mile race on 3/17 and my Flower City 1/2 Marathon in Rochester, NY on 4/29.

Do you guys do a lot of long races in the summer? Is there any special way I should practice bc of hte heat? although I was running last summer, I was just doing my really early (4:30 am) runs and no races so it wasn't hot yet when I was running, even in August - so I'm unsure what, if anything, I need to do different if running a midday race in the summer - any advice would be great!

Last week I got a new pair of shoes in the mail from Altra Running. They are called "The Instinct" and are a new breed of shoe that is supposedly the step between a regular running shoe and a minimalist shoe. Their shoe models are designed specifically for male or female -- no 'one shoe for both'.

The company was started by a couple of running shoe designers from Nike who started their own company.

The shoe has cushioning like a regular shoe, but has a minimalist heel to toe ratio. I heard an interview about the shoe on The Marathon Show and since my current shoes will be due for replacement in another 100 miles, I figured now would be a good time to check into a new pair.

Today was my first short run in the shoes. They say it takes 4 weeks or so to get your feet and calves accustomed to running in minimalist shoes because they enourage a mid-foot strike and engage your calves and arches more. So I decided to run 3x400m in them (with a 400m warm-up walk and 400m cool-down walk). So 5x400m in total in the shoes.

And they felt great! :goodvibes I had no problems running in them, partly because I am more of a midfoot striker anyways (and I walk in socks whenever I am home). I ran at a 12:00/mm pave for 2x400m and at 10:30/mm for the third 400m. Didn't experience any discomfort at all.

So I think I like these! I am going to wear them for one run each week, adding 1/2 mile each time until I can do a 5K in them. Then I will have a better idea if these will be a good fit for me. My main concern is that I am a heavier runner than most who go 'minimalist', so I will be paying close attention to how my feet handle it.

Not sure if I will want to run in these for a HM but we will see how this experiment goes. At worst, they can be my casual 'tennis shoe' if I choose not to make them a primary running shoe, right?

Ok, I'm catching up as I'm so far behind! First, I won't quote everyone, but wanted to say a few things -

I'm impressed with everyone's diets! Although I haven't gained any weight, I'm still at the same spot and have 10 pounds to lose. After my son's bday weekend, which I admittedly didn't watch what I eat, I was happy to see I didn't gain anything, but now I'm ready to return to the diet! I'm surprised by everyone's avoidance of carbs as I always heard you are supposed to carb when running - don't get me wrong, I avoid it too (I feel like I put on weight just looking at it!) but I thought I was the only one - happy to see I'm not!:thumbsup2

And the goodlife story is AWFUL. I'm so sorry that happened to your dad. I hate chain gyms with a passion!

Rick, those shoes sound great! I'm in a quandry myself - I'm still using my very first pair of shoes I got when starting to run; and looking at the soles, I'm thinking it may be time to get a new pair soon - but I'm sad about it! I feel like I'm losing a BFF who was with me from the beginning of this journey, anyone else feel that way or am I the only crazy one?

Dave, so sorry about your uncle.

bunnyfoo - great job on the reps! you go!

rubato - keep going with the studying - I didn't like my ethics class either and it always made me feel like the most unethical person in the world although I always thought I was pretty nice!

Lynn - have a great time in Africa - I'm so jealous - you better post LOTS of pix!

To everyone else - keep running and keep motivated - we can do it!:cool1:

Good morning team. Hope everyone's having a good week so far. I can't wait for this one to end. ;)

Kimberly: Good job keeping a steady weight through the party. I remember those fun parties. My son is 12 now and wants to have the teen "boy/girl" party this year! :scared1: As far as carbs, I don't avoid them at all. I just try to eat whole grains and as unprocessed as possible.

Apparently, everyone in my class is unethical. We keep discussing what it would be like if there was no chance of getting caught, and we're all a little scary!

Elizabeth: I'm so happy to hear the pain is gone most of the time. Now, we just need to get you through the next 2 weeks. :thumbsup2 Apparently, it's unanimous, no one likes ethics class!

Rick: Great gym story. Yeah, I'm sure they were all trying to figure you out! I don't know if you've noticed, but there aren't many distance runners in gyms. They tend to be more worried about fitness, so they aren't going to run half marathons. I have a hard time at gyms because they all have time limits on the tms. I'm glad the shoes are working out.

Vicky: I would love to buy some shoes on my trip, but we'll see. Italy has the most amazing shoes, but they also come with a huge price tag for the most part. I'm going to avoid the street in Venice with the designer stores. I don't even want to look at the new stuff I'll never be able to afford. I bought a new dress for the trip already. I know, it's pathetic. But, I started thinking summer, in Venice, just me and Frank and couldn't help but feel the need for shopping. Here's the link since I know you like to shop as much as I do:http://www.zappos.com/product/7811433/color/137916
It's funny. I have a friend who is a fitness competitor and she's the opposite. She has this 6 month diet that she does before her competitions and it slowly takes out all food except tuna and veggies. It's obviously different for men and women. She also does the bathing suit ones, so I think they are less bulked up.
Great job on your squats! I can squat more weight than almost any man I know (of course, I don't know any muscular guys). It's fun to push yourself sometimes.
No, you did a good job pacing too. I was just always the one announcing the pace. :lmao:

Lynn: Yes, that's a long time standing. Especially when you aren't used to it. I love cruises, but have a major issue with packing for those. I love the formal nights, so we always have to bring evening gowns and tuxes and they take up lots of room!

Dave: I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, but, 85 isn't bad.

Wow, I just used my pace calculator to see what a sub 9 minute 1500 meter would be. I can run that, obviously, but I could NEVER walk that no matter how much training I had. I am, as always, amazed by your goals and speed. I like the training partner's mantra. I might be using that!

AFM: Well, I am going crazy again. I worked on homework from the time I got home yesterday until 8:30. Then, woke up and started again. Now, I'm going to school to meet the honors prof and do some research, and back home for more work. Harrison and I are going to the batting cages after school, then I need to try to get the dog out for a walk. I just couldn't wake up this morning.:guilty:

I am taking a couple days off from running. My knee is fine, but my calf (the one I tore) is cramped up and tight as can be. I'm going to try warming it up and stretching it out a few times today, and I've been putting Biofreeze on it to make it feel better. It's annoying. But, I guess I'm just pushing too hard. I want to do another 1.5 or 2 with Harrison tomorrow and then, maybe 3 on Saturday. We'll see.

Good Morning Team!

Tandy - Yes, packing for cruises always embarrasses me, we pride ourselves on light packing, but we will show up for a 4 day or 7 day cruise with 2 big carry-ons and 2 huge suitcases each! You need your formal clothes (mine do not take much room, but Scott’s tux does), you Pirate costumes, dress clothes for dinner, run-around clothes for ship and shore excursions, wet suit and fins and mask and snorkel for Castaway Cay, and the list goes on!

Rick - Keep us informed of shoe progress!

Kimberly - Just train in conditions closest to the conditions of where you will be racing, and the hotter it is, the more water you need to drink, and maybe even use electrolyte replacement drinks - see which one works for you. We probably will not post many pictures from South Africa, we have to turn off our data link on the phones, will only have iPod touch for internet, but I am sure Scott will post stuff on FB after we get back.

Elizabeth - Glad to hear back pain is mostly gone, hope the swimming helps.

AFM - Yesterday did not do any exercise, except running up and down stairs a few times - spend the day reading travel guides for South Africa! Will have to brave the cold today to take dogs out and get some other exercise in the basement - spin bike or Pilates tape.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Good Morning Team.

The rain stayed away so the 10 miler was very nice. I dressed for the cold and we did a comfortable 12:11 mpm pace. I should really have some awesome 5K and 10K times this year. We took it easy this week but next week it will be another brutal workout. I think doing the 10 milers this year instead of last years long training walks of 6.5 miles is going to make us much stronger.

Everything is going super with the clean eating, getting the extra hour a day of sleep and training more intensely. The weight is melting off and my times are getting faster each week.

Lynn maybe someday Sally and I will get a chance to practice that cruise packing thing. One of my training partners went to the superbowl and paid $1200 just for a ticket. Right now that is just mind boggling for me. That was my whole budget for 10 days at WDW.

Have a magical day of wonder and peace.

Dave:hippie:

Hi team!

Dave - That's an expensive ticket! I'd rather take a vacation than go to a football game but then again, I'm not a football fan so it's probably not fair of me to say. Congrats on the weight loss so far! Keep it up!

Lynn - Did you get the pups out today? It was pretty chilly in the morning here but then it warmed up! Well enough that I didn't have an excuse not to go out for a run in the evening. You take pirate costumes on your cruises? I'm missing out!

Tandy - That's an awesome dress! Which color did you get? I love the red! But black goes with everything! Too bad we don't live closer together, I think it would be awesome to go and workout in the gym together. My chiro does the bathing suit ones too! I was shocked when she told me how much those tiny suits cost!

Lots of pixiedust: for your knee! I hope it's better by the weekend!

Kimberley - I'm ok with low/no carbs when I run shorter distances. With me, I can't really have a little bit of sugar or carbs without over indulging  I also get results more quickly when I ditch the sugar. If I do have carbs, I'm like Tandy and will go for the whole grain stuff. Happy belated birthday to your son! Kids birthday parties are always so much fun!

I try to get out early in the summer but it doesn't always work ... mostly because I'm not a morning person. I just try and train in conditions similar to those on race day. The 30K that I usually do is in the evening in August. So prior to that, I make sure I get out for a few evening runs just so that I have a feel for the temps and humidity levels. Make sure you take water with you or have a place where you can get water in the summer.

Rick - Whenever I'm at the gym, I switch shoes too! I have a pair that I wear for just general exercising and my running shoes for the TM. Glad to hear the new shoes are working out for you!

Elizabeth - I'm going to give the practice tomorrow another shot. I'll get up an hour earlier like Robbie suggested and see if that makes it easier to go to sleep at night. I'm glad your friend likes the site! I'll pass along the compliments :)

AFM - I let my gym membership go because it's been so warm and dry out this winter *knocks on wood* I figure I can save the money toward a trip next year so for now I'm just working with my trainer once a week. I do miss the extra day but I have some weights at home and can do some of the exercises myself.

I ran outside today - it was a little chilly but not too bad once I got going. I happened to cross paths with the local running clinic - literally. Talk about sidewalk hogs  We were running in opposite directions on the same sidewalk but they were running in pairs and as I approached them, I kind of waited for them to go single file down one side, so we'd share the sidewalk. I got pretty close and they weren't moving. Well, you all know about my ankle and I'm not risking another sprain by running on the frozen grass, in the dark nonetheless ... so I ran down the center because that was what little sidewalk was left. I guess they thought I was going to run on the grass because they all jumped out of the way as I ran through. So inconsiderate. It was so easy to share.

Later on, I came across the same group running on a residential street. This time, they were running 4 people wide on the street. Normally I wouldn't care, except I was on the street too and cars were dodging around them and going on the opposite side of the road... yeah the side that I was on. It's pretty stupid on their part to go four wide and not move for oncoming traffic. Plus it probably makes the drivers angry which doesn't look good on runners in general. I'm going to send the running store an email tomorrow.

Hey! Valentine's is next week ... anyone have plans for the weekend or next week? :goodvibes

Good morning team.

Vicky: I'm glad you're going to let the running store know about the running group. It makes all runners look bad to drivers, first off. And, the sidewalk thing is ridiculous also. I have reached a point where I just don't yield anymore. Well, except for little kids on bikes and sometimes, strollers. ;)

I'm surprised you gave up your membership. I know how much you love the gym. But, you're right. You can go once a week and do another day at home, no problem. A lot of what your trainer does can be done with just your own resistance anyway.
It would be fun to workout together. I bet you could kick my booty!

I actually got the blue dress. I wanted black, but I own so many clothes in black, and I don't have anything in that color blue. Plus, I can accessorize in black or brown.

I hope practice and sleep go well tonight. Good luck.

Dave: A big part of me thinks your friend is INSANE! But, if football is his thing, then.... :confused3 I love the game so much that I put my hubby to shame. But, we don't even go to local games due to cost. I'd rather save my money for something smart, like Disney. Or new shoes.

Lynn: I have done the snorkel mask and fins thing, but never a wetsuit! No wonder you need that much luggage. Now you've got me dreaming of going on another cruise.

AFM: I got up at 3 again this morning. But, I have figured out why at least. My Sleep Number bed has a leak in the hose. It's hard to stay asleep when your bed has deflated! My back is going to be killing me today. At least Frank got a good night's sleep since his side is fine.

Had a great meeting with my honors professor yesterday. She is awesome! School's finally leveling out and going well.

Went for a 3.5 mile walk with the dog yesterday. I have now taken 2 days off of running and the calf is getting looser. Harrison and I will run after school today, but at least it's a short run.

I finally got on the scale today. I'm a bit disappointed because I'm up 2 pounds. I know that I wasn't perfect on Sunday, but wow! Frank was desperately trying to talk me into going out for Thai last night. I'm talked him off his ledge, so I'm hoping he'll get it together soon. He lost a bunch of weight, but then quit smoking, so now, he's gained it all back and then some. He needs to get back on track because his tux will never fit him for the wedding now. He's got until July to lose about 30 pounds.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Hi All

Dave: I am sorry to hear about your uncle as well.
On a brighter note, weight melting off and getting faster? Can’t get better than that. Whatever you are doing, keep it up!

Vicky: To answer a previous question, I am looking to at least a couple races before Blue Nose in Halifax. There is a 10K here in Charlottetown early April that I am going to do, and deciding between one of two races late April: a half marathon here in PEI that drew a whooping 35 people last year, or some friends have asked me to join their team in a 50 mile relay in Vermont the same weekend.

I am with you in regards to gym memberships…not only the money aspect of it…but the time as well. If I only have a limited amount of time to work out, I would rather not waste it driving back and forth to gym…when I could be working out even longer at home.

Tandy: Good luck to Frank in dropping 30 lbs by July. I have been there, and as long as he is committed, it can be done!

Lynn: being the newest guy, I probably missed it…when is your big trip?

AFM: Had my first small Goofy test this week…first back-to-back runs since October. Ran 6 miles at an 8:30 pace on Tuesday, but legs felt pretty crappy after just three miles yesterday. The weird thing is I ran 13 miles fine over the weekend, albeit a slower pace...so 13 miles continuous is ok, but 6 miles one day and 3 the next is not. What’s up with that?

Good morning everyone!

I've been a bit down in the dumps. I only got to run once this week bc I've had to be at work each day before 5 am on a huge project that's due 2/15. So, since last wednesday, I've been running one time. :scared1: It's the longest I've been without since I've started and honestly it's stressing me out. Thankfully, I haven't gained anything, but I still want to lose that 10 pounds and this is not helping. I was going to run this morning but then my lovely husband got me up THREE times in the middle of the night bc of his heartburn; and frankly, though I love him, he's a big baby. So I was too exhausted. So I decided to take a deep breath, give myself the weekend to recoup my lack of sleep and start fresh monday morning. i can only run in the morning bc I have a four year old who won't leave me alone when awake and my dh works late in the evening. You don't think I'll be too off my game, do you? I'm going to start with a 10k on monday; and honestly, am looking forward to it. I do miss running outside though. Warm up NY!

I'm also signing up for the Utica, NY boilermaker (beer after-party as soon as you are done racing!) on 7/8 which is a 15k and the rochester 4/29 1/2 has been signed up for - could you add those to the calendar for me?

Anywho - Tandy, don't worry about that 2 pounds. I've seen your workout ethic and it will be off in no time - and good for you convincing dh not to go for thai!

Luzzbightyear - don't worry about that run - we all have runs we aren't excited about - the fact is you did it - that's the key step!

Vicky - that running group sounds unbelievable! I thought one of the first things you should learn is running etiquette! Although I didn't mind so much bc I was at disney, I was really surprised by the number of people in the 1/2 who didn't know the etiquette of running/walking to the right as well. I've never had to run around people in both directions so much before - and if you aren't running fast, no excuse for 4 across - which also happened a lot at the half.

Tandy - I think the blue was a great idea! hope you get your bed fixed! and pls dont tell me about teen parties!:scared1: I want to keep obliviously unaware for as long as I can. I thankfully am still at the stage when my 4 year old complains about a girl bc she is pushing/hitting him and I know (but he won't believe me) it's bc she likes him - it's so funny!

Dave - you are really putting me to shame!:rolleyes1

Bunnyfoo - I love the idea of a 30k, I'm going to see if I can find one - I think it's a great middle bw the 1/2 and full I want to do this year.

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Pups got out Wed but not yesterday - hoping to get them out today before snowfall - just need to bite the bullet and brave the cold.

Dave - We were lucky to buy into DVC early - when it started - most of our vacations are on DVC points (which is why we are always out of points), so do not cost a lot out of pocket. The cycling rides that are close by do not cost much in comparison to a Disney race.

Tandy - Wetsuits (shorties usually) make snorkeling much more comfortable, the water is not warm enough for a long time immersed without getting cold. Cruises are definitely fun! the reason I did not get a Sleep number bed when I was shopping for a new bed was all the stories I heard about bladder needing to be replaced often. I ended up with a latex foam (instead of memory foam) bed. Hope you can fix the leak so that you have a place to sleep!

Robbie - we are leaving next week.

Kimberly - It is tough when you cannot exercise for whatever reason, only suggestions I can make are if you get breaks at work, use them for some exercise - run around the parking lot a couple of times - 15 min of exercise is better than none. Use the stairs if there are any. Yes, it is amazing the number of folks who do not know run etiquette or just decide they are above that! Part of the problem at Disney races, I think, is that you get folks who are not racers, but decide to do the race because it is at Disney, and therefore have never had any instruction into etiquette.

AFM - Managed to get out for dog walk on Wednesday, but yesterday was really cold - the wind was very icy, so I spent an hour on the spin bike.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

For anyone who's thinking about signing up for DL:

Disneyland® Half Marathon – 79%
Family Fun Run 5K – 66%
Kids' Races – 54%

Happy Friday team!

Lynn - I know what you mean about braving the cold. Sometimes once you get out there and get moving, it's not as bad as you think it will be - just the thought of the cold weather, makes it seem worse than it is. Are you all packed?

Kimberley - I'm always suprised too by runner ettiquette *sigh* Of course I come across people in the subways who don't know to stand right and walk on the left ... same with drivers LOL There's a 30K in Toronto in August that's pretty fun. The theme is a Midsummer Night so a lot of the runners (guys included) dress up like fairies, jesters etc. It's not a common race distance as far as I know but it's great in building up your confidence to do a full :)

Don't feel about about not running! It's hard when you have other things you have to focus on. I like to think of it this way - rest is an important part of training so just look at the days off as rest. I like Lynn's suggestion of taking the stairs or sneaking some exercise in during breaks at work.

Robbie - I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like gym fees. I can't believe that only 35 people showed up for the PEI marathon! Do they still have water stops and medals when it's such a small race?

Running is funny ... sometimes I feel amazing running 8 miles but then when I go and run 3 miles, it feels like a death march. I think a lot of it has to do with your energy level - like if you had a heavy workout the day before with weights, you're legs might be more tired. Or sometimes just sleep and eating will do it too. Good job on your pace for the 6 miler though!

Tandy - I'm like you ... I've got a closet full of LBDs. This time when I went outlet shopping at Disney, I made sure to pick up dresses that weren't black. I like the idea of using black or brown accessories! So I have to ask... what shoes are you wearing with the dress :)

I'll bet the 2 lbs is salt retention or just food moving through your digestive system. With your workouts, it will be gone in no time. It's good that Frank is wanting to lose weight as well. It's always easier to work as a team!

pixiedust: for your calf! What kind of mileage are you planning for this weekend?

Elizabeth - How's your back?

AFM - I skipped out on caffeinated beverages yesterday and it seemed to help a little bit in getting to sleep. So I was able to fall asleep at 12:30AM instead of 2AM  I did get up earlier yesterday and that was good because I was able to get more stuff done but I think part of the problem is that I'm really more of a night person. I talked to my massage therapist about his dragonboat team and they practice on Sunday but their facility is about 45 minutes from my house. So that was a bit farther than I wanted to travel.

There's suppose to be a flash freeze tonight along with some snow. I normally do my LR on Saturday but I think I'll save that for Sunday since it's suppose to be warmer then.

Have a great day everyone :wave2:

Hello team!

Robbie - Welcome!

Lynn - A cruise to Greece would be so exciting. I'm considering whether we should go on the Magic cruise in 2013.

Elizabeth - Glad you are feeling better! WTG on avoiding the GS cookies. I ordered 4 boxes this year and I know a couple of them will disappear pretty quick.

Kimberly - I agree with PP, make sure to take water with you on hot runs. I run after work and in the summer it's still hot at 6p where I live, but the shade on my route helps a lot. For weekend long runs, I try to get out early to avoid the heat.

AFM - My motivation has been zero this week. Plus, just being busy with work and life isn't leaving a lot of time for working out.

I've started taking a ballet class once a week. It's been a loooong time since I've danced and I'm not as flexible as I used to be. What are good exercise for increasing flexbility?

I'm going to try to get some exercie in this weekend. DH has been wanting to play raquetball so we might do that tomorrow. I'm thinking of signing up for a 5k as that may motivate to go running.

Have a good day!
Emily

I did my mile and a half to warm up, then when I got to the start of my 4 mile time trial I started the stop watch and said "Grrrrrrrr!! ON". Then took another minute and a half of my 4 mile PR, with a 43:03, paying attention to good race walk technique. I'm in the 10s!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm very pumped about this. That's a pace of 10:46 per mile and I had plenty left. Now the assult begins to drop that pace into the 9s.

Miss Fish I have enough motivation for all of us, take some of mine.:cloud9:

Everyone have an awesome day.

Dave:hippie:

BTW, where is everyone intending to stay for the 2013 1/2 and full? We just got our reservations at BLT so I'm pretty psyched - love it there!:thumbsup2

Happy Friday team!!!!:cheer2:

Kimberly: Your husband sounds a bit like mine. I understand that they get sick, but so do we. And, when we get sick, we still have to take care of everyone. And, it's not like you can do anything about his heartburn!
You'll get back to running more. I think you're smart to just give yourself a break until Monday. I bet you'll get that 10 off. That's what I need to lose also. We're in this together!
Oooh, a race with beer sounds great!

Dave:Congratulations on getting into the 10s!!!:cheer2:

Emily: Ballet classes sound very exciting. Flexibility is just all about stretching! Just warm up and make sure that you seriously stretch out a couple of times a day. I completely understand about lacking motivation, believe me.

Vicky: I've got a couple of options for the dress. If I'm dressing it up at night, I have some pretty tan sandal pumps, and I have some cute strappy flat sandals for day if I'm dressing it down. I also have a ton of wedges that would be a casual heel for day or evening. I don't know.
For this weekend, I'm hoping for 2 today, 3 tomorrow and maybe 4 on Sunday if I'm still not hurting. You? It's a tough decision about the 2 boat teams, but I would probably lean towards the Sunday one just because sleep is imperative to me.

Lynn: Yes, the water can be cold. We started out taking cruises in September, and the water is plenty warm then, but after that, it seems mostly, we've done winter cruises. It's warm enough in the air, but the water can be chilly. I'm not much of a water person anyway, just a beach kind of girl. ;) Hope you can get a few more days of getting out and walking before you leave.

Robbie: It's funny how our bodies work sometimes. My injury occurred during a 12 mile run and I ran 20 for my long run the weekend before with no problem. I have struggled with a couple miles and been fine for 6 or 7. You just never know.
Thanks for the encouragement with Frank. He's done it before too, many times. He just can't learn the basic lesson of "lifestyle" change. He can diet with the best of them, but he then goes right back to the cruddy way of eating that got him there in the first place. :guilty:

AFM: Had a nice walk with Frank today. He actually got his day off for the first time in months, so I forced him to walk! I'm going running later, but first, we're going out to lunch. I don't know what I'm going to do with this man.

I had a nice discussion today with my wonderful hubby about DW for another marathon weekend. For those of you who know me, you know that he didn't have a good time in 2011 because my running and meets took up so much of our "family" vacation. So, I haven't mentioned going back until now, because I have to ease him into these things. We have started the discussion of waiting and not doing 2013, but shooting for 2014. That way, Harrison will be 14, and he can run the half with me, then I'll run the full by myself (or with WISHers). But, I'm going to have to promise to only go to one meet and will have to figure out the best way to work that out. Since it's now looking like 2 years :guilty: I'll have lots of time. I'm just glad he didn't shoot me down, which is what I expected. I'm just hoping I can still run a Goofy in 2 years. :lmao:

Hoping to get running in every day this weekend, and maybe lift one day. I haven't in a couple of weeks, and am feeling guilty. I'm already about half way done with my HW, and just have some algebra and studying to do.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I can't believe that only 35 people showed up for the PEI marathon! Do they still have water stops and medals when it's such a small race?

It is not THE PEI Marathon...that one is in October, the half gets about 700 people. I don't know much about the one in April, just that it is in support of military families and only had 35 people last year. I know that I get a timing chip, but not sure how many (if any) water stops there will be. Should be interesting...
