We are moving in June from three bedrooms to two bedrooms. In our two extra bedrooms we currently have a daybed with a trundle in one and the other room is a full-size bed. We can obviously only take one. Which would you put in your guest room? The daybed or full-size bed?

depends on the types of guests that would be visiting most and if I would be using the room for other purposes. if mostly couples-probably the full size, if a mix of couples and singletons the daybed and trundle. I have a daybed in our extra room b/c it frees up more space for me.

How often, if ever, do you expect to have overnight guests?

Does trundle mean there's another pull out bed under the daybed? If so, I'd go with that one. It will save space when not needed.

We used to have a futon as our guest bed. Switched it to a full. Much better for the guests we have...mostly my DHs parents. The room is a dedicated guest room with no other use except some storage.

We have overnight guests maybe once or twice a year. My parents, grandmother, aunt and cousin, and a couple that lives in SC. We keep going back and forth on which one to keep. We're kind of leaning towards the daybed right now because of it being a little smaller. And also if by some chance non-related people stay over we have 2 beds for them to sleep in. Decisions, decisions...

I think the daybed is fine if it's a married couple. In fact, we have a full sized bed in one of our guest rooms (we have people over a lot and many of them are big families), and we find that many married couples can't/won't share a full sized bed. It's just too small. They can sleep in the same bed at home. It's not like they'll be that far apart anyway.

I think the full size. I don't think a daybed would be very comfortable for a couple to sleep on.

If the trundle is on the frame that can be popped up, I'd use the day bed. It gives you more flexibility. Our guest room bed is a sofa bed. I like the extra space.

full size.....as a guest (with DH) I could deal with it, but I would not be very comfortable. Too small for us. I would probably opt to go to the couch (which I have done before).

Both of our guest rooms have king size beds, but I am going to switch the one in the room DGD sleeps in to a queen as soon as she is in a bed instead of the pack n play.

If you're only using it a couple times per year I would go with the day bed. It takes less space.

Day bed and trundle would be my pick. Two adults can sleep comfortably on those (one in each bed). We have this in one room, and the trundle pops up to be level with the day bed. With a good quality mattress pad, it makes into a king.

To me, the full size is WAY too small for two adults to sleep comfortably. If I was presented with a choice of sleeping in a full size bed with DH or sleeping (even separately) on a day bed and trundle, I'd go with the latter every time. DH and I are both tall people. We can do a queen size together in a pinch, but never a full.

My preference is a real bed in a guest room. I would ask your guests who have slept in them and get their opinion OR give them a go and YOU sleep in them overnight to figure out which is the more comfortable option.

I dislike daybeds in general. Full sized beds are small but some friends recently got a memory foam guest bed that is full sized and that is not bad for a couple nights for Dh and I. The bed doesn't move when you roll over and I think that makes a difference. If I were in your situation, I'd get rid of the beds you have and get a queen bed for the guest room.
