Guardians Will Open with VQ and ILL

Another question if anyone would feel so inclined to answer: Is it possible that your boarding group could be called to return during a dining reservation? If so, is there any leeway or do we just lose our opportunity for that day (since we can only join one VQ per day)? Thank you! 😊
I've read that it's better to go on time for an ADR, even if it means going late for an LL (or VQ). It's much easier for the CMs to work you into the ride line than a restaurant table. Sometimes the CM at the ride will ask to see your ADR in MDE or your receipt, which I don't think is unreasonable.

I get that you can't pick when your VQ BG gets called, but... If you can select your ILL timeframe, WHY would you select it during the time you have an ADR?

I don't think anyone would intentionally pick an ILL timeslot that doesn't fit with their plans for that day but with the way the times jump around when purchasing ILL in the morning someone could originally choose 10:00am, for example, as their timeslot but by the time they've gone through the check out process it could have jumped to 6:00pm and then that's right when they have a dinner ADR scheduled or something. The easy solution to that though is to just go to guest services and explain what happened and ask them if they could change it.

This. ILL is not as straight forward as it sounds. It’s not FP+ time slot selection. It just teases you in to thinking you are getting the time you pick.

Plus, there may only be 1 time left when you get to finalizing even if the times don’t change.

our BG was called about an hour before our ADRs. The ride broke down and we missed our ADR window. We went to the restaurant and they accommodated us - albeit with a 30 min wait - but they eventually sat us. You should go to your ADR. You can go into the VQ any time after they call you.

We just got home today. We were in Epcot for the official opening of GotG:CR on the 27th. I tried for a VQ and did not get it. Then tried for a ILL and no go. I then looked at my plans for the day and had a Multiple Experience pass for Epcot ..... Let's back up a little bit. We arrived at AKL at 11:00pm on the 25th. I had booked cash because there was not availability through DVC. I booked CL, Savanna view. Our room was not savanna view. Also they took our bags to bell services but no one would answer the phone. At 12:00 I went to the desk and asked for my bags and also mentioned the room. I did not raise my voice or come off as nasty. I told the lovely young lady that I understood it's not her fault and told her since I didn't get Savanna View could she just refund the difference. She said she couldn't do that but offered to move us but we were tired and the room she offered was no better. I thanked her and took our bags to the room. The next morning when we headed to AK Iooked at my MDX account to purchase G+ and noticed I had rides already in for every day! AK I had FOP, EP I had the Multiple one and a Remy. MK 7DMT, etc etc. I didn't look at what the EP one covered until the 27th when we were about to head to the park.

Talk about a mood changer!!! We were all bummed out till I seen this! Anyway, what a ride!! I also booked EP for Monday and Tuesday and was able to purchase a ILL for both days. I didn't even try for a VQ. This is one ride I don't mind paying for.

Just thought I would share my experience this morning with the VQ and ILL. At 7 I tried for a VQ but it said I wasn’t in the park. Freaked out that the system didn’t realize we had park reservations (which we did and got in at 8:30) We couldn’t of course do anything about that and VQ was gone. Next I did ILL - first time showed during our dinner ADR so selected another time. Even with fumbling around to enter redemption card info, our reserved time stayed as selected.

At 1 pm (while on Soarin’), I got boarding group 156 which originally said it would be around 8:30 but went at 6:50 (our ILL was for 5:50 so we rode close to back to back though the wait on ILL was so much shorter).

We arrived late for a BG when Remy was on Bgs. The CM told us that as long as you come after the BG is called we would be fine, just not before. Dining is a very different beast though.

I did post up a stupid question, now deleted lol. I am tired :).

Are you able to join a 1:00 VQ if you already bought an ILL (and are in the park and missed out at 7am)?
Yes. Since by "in the park" that would mean you had a park reservation and had tapped in.

ILLs still available but I see they went back to $17 when it's been $14 during the week.
I take it they are going to go with the weekend ILL model for the other rides where Fri/Sat/Sun rates are a few dollars higher than weekdays. ROTR seems to be the only ILL ride that stays the same regardless of the day.

Right. But just looking for clarification that by holding an ILL you are not disqualified from the 1:00 VQ.

You can get both at 7, so I don't see why they would block you from trying at 1 if you didn't get VQ at 7.
