Just wanted to know which is your favorite character from Guardians of the Galaxy? Mine is Rocket Raccoon. "I am Groot".

The following is for entertainment purposes only, as told to us by a driver from one of the hotels near Universal on a ride into Universal. Found it interesting at least. It was also before the LucasFilms purchase. Not that I doubt the validity of knowledge of theme park bus drivers, but.. well... I guess I do.

Disney was originally going to get the Harry Potter franchise, but took issue with both giving J.K. Rowlings the creative control she demanded and the idea of erecting a non-Disney castle on property, so the deal fell through and Universal snatched it up.

Disney then proceeded to buy Marvel, Universal only has a finite timeline to the contract at which point they will have to rebrand all the Marvel rides / areas to something else.

I seem to recall him saying a 10 year time frame before that would happen.

I'm sure the Universal / Marvel contract does have a specific term, but it would have to be long enough for Universal to see enough return on the initial investment they made in their parks. How the option years may be exercised is of course another question. If and when that expires I'm sure WDW will take advantage of it.

Sorry, this is incorrect. There is no set time limit to the contract.

Once THE MARVEL UNIVERSE opens within the above time period, the term of this agreement shall continue for so long as a THE MARVEL UNIVERSE shall remain open (and operated consistent with the standards of the next paragraph below) at any Universal Theme Park (allowing for temporary closures for force majeure events or refurbishment/maintenance provided they are being diligently pursued), except for termination for material breach (with written notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure).


Also, I was correct about Marvel characters at WDW.
