Grand Californian Super Thread

Seems to me a 2 story lounge is going to have to use guest rooms on 2 floors for the needed square footage.

I'm surprised that they want to reduce the number of rooms for that.
Unless you are trying to boost the occupancy rate.

@Nonsuch posted a map here. It’s being installed on that 5th floor patio. Don’t think there are rooms there or on 6 above the patio?

As to why? Have you seen the prices they get for CL rooms at GCH?!! Be still my heart. And they only get those prices because demand is strong. Thing will probably pay for itself by Year 2.

We had previously used Club Level at GCH and at that time it actually was cheaper than eating in the parks. But not anymore! I recently made reservations for our June trip and was quoted an additional $900 per day!

The new room decor looks beautiful
I’m especially excited about the carpet. The last time we stayed there were a couple of holes. It’ll be nice to have new carpet.

I also really like the color scheme

Does anyone have a picture of the current patio area that will eventually be the club level lounge? I've never been up there.

Based on what @Nonsuch shared I think Chris Provost does a fairly good walkthrough of that spot. Been up there a few times. Often it's being used for weddings -

If this doesn't link correctly jump to around 13:16.

So that beautiful outdoor seating area is going to be enclosed?
A new roof will create a 2-story space.

Is it currently open to everyone, or just club-level guests?
The patio can be rented for weddings or other events, otherwise open to all.
I have never seen it used for anything.

I'm excited for the new addition

I think it would be nice to have a smaller club lounge for DVC only. I think the regular lounge might be overwhelmed if DVC could access it, but maybe with the new one that wouldn't be an issue.

It is currently open to everyone and it's such a shame they are taking that away!
I agree; that space is where we unwind while waiting for our DVC villa to be ready. It's where we come together with friends, family, and fellow explorers. It's also a beautiful pathway for those who appreciate the awe and wonder of the Grand Californian Hotel. What’s truly unfortunate is that the grand lobby is designed to let natural light pour in throughout the day, highlighting various features as the angle of the sun changes. To see that light blocked feels like a loss of value for DVC members and hotel guests alike, not to mention a disregard for one of the most beautifully designed spaces in the entire Disney legacy.

It’s been about 7 or so years since I’ve stayed at GCH. We would always get the theme park view rooms looking at Grizzly Peak in the most Eastern wing of the resort. How would I even go about trying to do this again? There doesn't appear to be a bookable category for theme park views or are they all just considered partial now?

I would guess they are mostly partials because trees have grown and partially blocked the views.
