Grand Californian Super Thread

I would guess they are mostly partials because trees have grown and partially blocked the views.
I certainly found that to be the case in the Brisa Courtyard. The trees are lovely, but it's harder to see the monorail now! I can definitely imagine that the same thing has happened in back of the hotel.

Saw someone posted that there are construction walls up around the pool, Mariposa pool maybe. Does anyone know how long pool work is going on for?

Staying there march 11-15th for the first time, is there going to be loud construction sounds? It didn't say anything about construction when I booked.

Has anyone ever booked a specific room number at GCH and gotten it? I might request the room we had last year.

What exactly are the benefits of staying CL? Is it just the lounge and small bites of food? Thank you!
We've had Club Level three times in recent years. It was very convenient with access to food and drinks all day and into the evening. And you could take whatever you wanted back to your room. My son ran the numbers and it was actually cheaper than eating in the parks. HOWEVER, while scheduling our upcoming trip in June, I was quoted $900 per day per person! We thought was was ridiculous and not remotely cost-effective so we are skipping it this time.

Sounds like Disney ran the numbers too, lol.

$900 per person is nuts, but I see how $250-300 might be necessary if a lot of people are booking it to cover all of their meals, snacks, and drinks for 24 hours.

Just wondering if you heard this from a CM or travel agent? Looking at rates in June, a club level room is about $700 more per night, not per person. With the current sale it's $400 more per night. (Staying 4 nights.)

I mistakenly said "per person" when it should have been "per room per night." The quote was from the employee making reservations at the Disneyland phone number. We were scheduling a three-night stay.

oh, ok. That makes more sense :) . I was really shocked that it had gone up THAT much.

We've done club level at DLH and I think it was more like $250 extra a night, which I think is worth it. Not $900 though!

I would love to Club Level at GCH but for just me -- it is a lot of money which can give to Disney in many other ways!

FYI: When I booked my May trip at GCH in late December I booked standard room for 9 nights since Woods Courtyard view (my standard/goto) was $1800 more with the sale --- fast forward to this morning, I am on the DL site looking at my dates for August and then revisit my May reservation --- upgrading to Woods Courtyard now this morning was only $300 for the 9 nights!! Done! My advice to people is to keep checking the DL website multiple times a day. The Cast Member at the Walt DIsney Travel Co. says hotel pricing changes occur multiple times a week especially with the sale through September 26 which you need to book by 5/15!

I have never stayed CL level. I believe there are alcoholic drinks available for adults. That may be a cost savings if you or other adults in your party consume adult beverages. Also, it is my understanding there are dedicated concierge staff to help you with check-in, reservations, etc. so you can avoid the lobby scene?

My father and step-mother once stayed club level at the Contemporary Resort in WDW. They asked if they could have a nice (ceramic) mug for morning coffee in their room. That afternoon, there were 2 Contemporary Resort themed mugs from the BVC giftshop with a bow that said "a gift for you here and at home" and my parents got free mugs.

My DW and I just booked our vacation to DLR and we are staying at the GCH. We booked through Costco Travel because we can get a gift card and pin/lanyard too. Does anyone know where do we pick up our gift card and pin/lanyard? Is it the gift shop? Front desk? I am having problems finding an answer to this question and it may be right in front of my face but I'm not sure.

I am doing a Costco package as well for my trip in May. I also did the Costco package for a trip in December of 2021. The gift card was electronic and I got it a few days before the trip. It was probably when we got the digital tickets. The Lanyard and pin were picked up at a pin trading center in Downtown Disney.

Thank you. May the Force be with you, always.

Does anybody know if the terrace overlooking Paradise Pier for World of Color viewing is currently open? Was hoping to catch it this weekend during our stay.

Thanks! If you think of it, I'd also be curious whether Housekeeping has hot chocolate pods available. I only saw coffee and I think tea in the standard supply.
Hey, just remembered I was going to report back on the type of k cup pods at GCH. It was a combo of Joffreys French Roast, Joffreys decaf, Twinnings Green tea, and Swiss Miss hot cocoa. These were the same pods that were replenished each room service. Also, there were single coffee mate creamers, 4 to go cups with lids, and a pack of sugars (and artificial sweetener, I'm blanking on the brand) and stirrers.

On a side note, it hasn't even been a week and I miss DLR already! Luckily I just booked another trip for June to help with that 😅 (I have a magic key this year and am taking full advantage!)

Thanks for the report, LKing. I guess whoever replenished the room before I arrived was out of cocoa or forgot to put any in my supply. Good to know that it's available.
