Golf Cart Rental Issue/Problem

Of course now that we have the Disney po po on this board these tricks may not work! This is our plan also or if needed we will rent the trailer to haul it in.

i'm not the dis po po. Yea, i'm pro disney, they are currently paying the bills. but i'm not gonna go *******

 By jove I think I've got it! The next dis sensation... Musket Mickey's Trailer Swap... :rolleyes1

As a point of clarification to my earlier post, most car insurance policies do not cover golf carts unless it is a specific rider. If you owned a cart it would be covered under your homeowners policy that is why a cart rental is a total different animal from a car. If you start checkin,g many Campgrounds are now banning private carts for that reason as well. If you don't own the cart, and don't have a specific rider you could very well not be covered. It all depends on how Florida law is written.

Actually, you have this backwards. MOST homeowners policies only cover golf carts WHILE GOLFING and on the golf course and to and from the course if you live in this type of community. If you rent a cart your homeowners would generally provide liability coverage. The best way to provide yourself coverage is to purchase a seperate policy or add it to your auto policy if the company allows it.:thumbsup2

I agree Steve. I bought a policy from State Farm for $72 a year. I specifically told the agent that it would be used at campgrounds and for passengers.

We are saying the same thing sorta. Somone in an ealier post said that they were covered by their Auto policy that is when I said it would take a seperate rider since homeowners cover you. I was also specifically told by my agent that my homeowners coverage would apply to private property (privately owned campgrounds) but if you are in a State or County park (Publicly owned roads) there could be and issue.

If most policies only cover "golf courses" as you are saying that just gives Dinsey more ammunition to ban outside rentals since the renters using the outside company aren't covered (not on a golf course) That was the point that I said could be part of the problem and the ban.

But will Disney ban "outside" insurance companies......:lmao:

The only way you could get physical damage coverage to cover your cart on your auto policy would be if it were a licensed vehicle. The proper way to cover your cart is to issue an endorsement/rider to your homeowners for a stated value, just like you would an expensive bike, camera, jewelery, etc. Some states may vary, but in PA, this is the way it should be done. Golf courses and clubs have their own commercial policy which provides cart coverage, although no company I know would insure 3 wheeled carts but you rarely see those any more anyways. The problems with state parks, county parks and/or municipalities is they are exempt from paying out for liability. Your policy would always be primary if you had a claim against them.

Policy, coverages and limits vary by state

I'm Delaware My homeowners would cover it but only while on my property not anywhere else unless I lived in a golf course community and then only on the course I lived on.. Also couldn't be add to my vehicle policy-not street legal in my state.

I have a separate Golf car policy. (Nationwide) Good anywhere in the USA. complete with liability, comp and collision. I carry the policy in the MH just in-case Disney needs to see it. I also have insurance on the trailer too just in case someone steals it.

I am working on a code so we can communicate without the Disney spies knowing what we are saying. More later.

For those of you who are going soon, I thought I would update you. We rented from Kenny, very nice btw, and didn't have any problems. We picked up the cart on the 9th and returned it yest with no problems.

Hey Everybody

I have been lurking for a while, trying to feel my way around the boards. My husband and I will be making our first trip to the Fort on Nov 30, we are staying until Dec 14.

We made a reservation with Mike at GCE a few weeks back, and have since learned of the problem with Disney and the carts. I called 2 days ago and he said they were to "cease" all cart delivery for the time being until he hears back from Disney on how they are to proceed. He said we could still keep the reservation if we wanted to pick up the cart ourselves. We can use our own trailer, which is part of our TT style camper or he said we can use his trailer to bring the cart in. I looked up the address at GCE, it is 16 miles from FW but still better than paying Disney twice as much for our cart rental. So we are still trying to figure out what we are going to do, maybe keep the reservation or maybe cancel and go with Kenny at Tee Time if he isn't having any trouble with cart delivery.

If Kenny has been coming in under the radar, I figure it is only a matter of time before Mike at GCE blows him in to Disney.

I was thinking this too but didn't post it. They've already had run-ins at the fort, from what I understand. I am surprised it hasn't happened already. So far, being the "little guy" has had its advantages.

I finally get a ressie for a 6 place cart and now this ? I sure dont have time to drive over and get the cart since we arrive on Dec 23rd and they are closed on the 24th and 25th. I wont rent from Disney now, purely out of spite (that plus the fact that a 4 person cart wont work)

Figured I'd post an update, although I wish it were better news. DH talked to Mike at GCE today and they're still "working on it" but as of today are still not allowed to deliver carts to the Fort.

The really weird thing is that GCE still supplies WDW with carts for events and other "stuff" (not the FW rental carts though), so there actually is some sort of relationship there between them. Then again, maybe that's part of the problem... :confused3

The views expressed here are of my personal opinion and not those of the disney company.

it shouldn't matter that I work there. This is not my first position with disney, and I understand the frustrations about GCE not being allowed to come in, but still, hardee's doesn't sell their hamburgers @ McDonalds.

also, I know i'm not the only person that reads these forums. particpates, prolly, but not the only one that reads, there are managers and coordinators that are reading.

This is true, and when people ask outright, "do i need a cart?" i say this, no, you don't, but if you have little kids, and you don't wanna wait for buses or walk, it's highly recommended. it's your choice, and more power to you for walking and using your bike

when I worked in other resorts, even when i had a cart to use, I preferred a bike!

here's the catch, sure, there aren't enough for every family, but you can make reservations a year in advance, and cancel the day before your reservation is for with no penalty. I've noticed some places still require 20% if you cancel.

There are things missing from your math, like, ... my paycheck, a girl has gotta eat, and if you saw me, you prolly would say i need to eat more!

sure, money is made, but that's what business is.

Listen,
we all understand that you gotta earn your paycheck, but you get paid hourly not by commission on how many GC are rented or by what is sold in the parks or by any other means related to Disney sales, so what do you care? Unless mr.mickey is sending you a big fat check for the total sales and margin that disney makes at the fort, i recommend and I am sure alot of Disers will agree with me, that you need to focus on your job and not worry about what other people that are taking a vacation are doing to save a little bit of money. If you were to go on a cruise on vacation away from your job at disney and want to take on snorkels or waterbottles or anything else, would it be right for a cruise employee to start hating the fact that you are doing that and agree with the cruiseline to start banning??
IMHO , If i worked @ disney and was getting paid hourly (like you) i wouldn't care what vacationers were doing, it's THIER vacation, THEY are paying good money to stay there, shop there, eat there etc, which all pays your bills...trust me disney has plenty of money to pay your paycheck and will never run dry. You might not feel the pocket portion of spending @ disney since you get employee discounts, but we do..remember you just work there your not the execs, so just do your job like a normal person and go home and enjoy your life.
