Golf Cart Rental Issue/Problem

I called this morning to reserve a cart for the first week in Feb just incase they stop the 'outsiders'. The daily fee is up to $62.89. Gag!! But my DH wants the cart. He humors me with multiple trips to WDW-I humor him by providing the necessities!
Once this get straightened out I'll rent from GCE or TTime.

We are arriving at the Fort today and Kenny is delivering a cart to us in the am. Talked with his this morning before I saw this thread and he didn't give any indication that delivery would be a problem tomorrow. If something changes, I will update you all. Now off to pack up the car!!!

I just received a call from Kenny with Tee Time and he said it will not be a problem delivering our cart to FW. He said that he had been getting a lot of calls from people and that he hadn't heard anything about WDW prohibiting off site rentals of golf carts. We will see.

Good news for now! I have to wonder if they cracked down on GCE because they are much more "visible" when they come with their big lettered company truck/trailer. Being smaller, Kenny may be able to fly under the radar more easily. Although I do wonder how the changes to traffic flow into all the FW lots will effect him too eventually. :confused3

$63/day for a golf cart with no weekly rate is insane. I know folks will pay it (after all, if they kick everyone else out, people won't have a choice) but we will NEVER rent a cart from Disney at those prices. It's completely ridiculous that a golf cart costs as much as a campsite - heck, that's $9 MORE than we're paying for a Preferred site in November! :sad2:

Good luck and please keep us posted!

I called GCE and Kenny yesterday (after 5) to see about the price for a cart for the rest of our stay. Neither called back. He just called Kenny and he said he could bring us a cart today. I don't know what is going on.:confused3

Does Kenny typically deliver with a "company truck"? (GCE brings their big lettered truck when they drop off.) If Kenny doesn't, that may be why he hasn't gotten a call from Disney - because they don't know who he is. ;)

Let's hope they don't figure it out... although if they tighten up traffic flow so that everyone has to go through a guard/key card gate, that will be problematic....

Please keep us posted on what happens today!

We have decided not a rent a cart(decided to spend the money more wisely) after talking about it. We have been here for 5 days and haven't needed it yet, so we are not going to get one. Maybe someone else can update on what happens when he delivers one in the next few days.

Kenny doesn't have any writing or decals or anything on his truck or trailer to indicate he owns a golf cart rental company. Maybe that is why he still delivering?

I still say call the front or put Kenny on ur ressie and let him come to the site. Why go to the front when you can come to the site? Does somebody see something I don't?

Unbelievable :confused3 I'd be curious to know what the "reasoning" is behind this. If it is strictly financial, where does it end? Will all carts be banned including privately owned? The Fort rents bicycles too... I know, highly unlikely they'd be banned, but if it was strictly for financial reasons, one could argue the same rules should apply. I do realize however that Disney would never come out and say that a policy was changed for financial gain. :rotfl:

This summer, I had a 31 day cart rental from GCE for $415.35... the same rental at FW would now cost me $1,949.59:rotfl2: I guess we'll be back to the bikes if I can't pick the cart up myself.

Something else I just thought of could be an increase in vehicular traffic within the Fort. We would probably take the internal bus, but I'm willing to bet that there are a number of people who would drive their vehicle to the Outpost and park in the lot rather than waiting for the internal bus to take them to the Outpost for bus transportation to AK, Epcot, and HS.

As someone mentioned previously, even if you wanted to rent from Disney, sometimes that is not an option. I'm hoping this can get worked out... especially for everyone that has a rental with CGE or Tee Time in the very near future.

Hmm... certainly sounds like it would work. Do you think Disney would charge for an extra person if you did this?

Actually the one glitch I could see was if Kenny/GCE is only able to come in with a big company truck/trailer, but even there - what could Disney do if they're on the ressie?

Anyone ever done something like this?

Is it Kenny himself that always delivers?? That could be a problem if he needs to send someone else.

Even if they did, it's only $2 a day. The difference in the cart price is well worth that.

Actually he does have others who work for him. I remember someone mentioning in another post about someone other than Kenny who works for him, bringing their cart...and they were very happy with him etc.....so that could pose a problem as far as adding a name on the ressie. Can the name be added at anytime? If after you get there, find out the name of the person bringing the cart and then add them????

This is going to be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks. We won't be renting a cart from Disney if this all falls through I know that. My DH said he would drive to pick it up, if Kenny has a trailer we can rent/use? Or, we will just bring our bikes.

I was thinking it'd be easier to add Kenny's name to the ressie also. LOL - I suspect he could be one of the fort's most frequent guests... ;)

I must be missing something here in disney's reasoning b/c I'm not seeing the difference in private GC rental companies and outside ECV rentals. Both deliver and pick-up - in fact resort CMs are usually responsible for the ECVs after delivery until the guest arrives and before pickup after they depart until the truck arrives to load them up. How in the world could that continue to be acceptable if the GC issue really is resort/parking lot access?

On the plus side, at least that wouldn't stop individually owned carts yet. Looks like we may need to look more seriously at a toy hauler...

Ditto. So far our plan is to rent the trailer from GCE to get ours. It's worth a little extra time for the difference in cost of $859.40!! :scared1:

Unfortunately our friends who had the other 3 carts lined up may not be able to.

I guess we'll just see what happens... :confused3

That was probably me. When we rented in July, Omar delivered the cart for us. We just got home from another FW trip tonight and this time Kenny delivered and picked up the cart, but Omar still works for him. Kenny did mention that Disney is really cracking down on outside rentals. I would hate to see them put him out of business because he offers such great service and is such a nice guy!

The difference I can see is that Disney only rents ECV's in the parks. If they did make 24 hour rentals available for ECV's, then I could see them doing the same thing.

An ECV would be covered by the Americans with Disabilities act, and if Disney denied you access to one.... they would be SCREWED!!! LOL A golf cart is a luxury, no matter how much fun it is!!! :lmao: I know we rented one from the fort on our first trip for just a couple days here and there, our second trip we rented one for 14 days, and when we were done, we looked at each other and said, HOLY CRAP we could have bought one for that much money LOL. So we went out and bought one when we got home.
