Golf Cart Rental Issue/Problem

Unfortunately, until people make a statement by just plan NOT renting the carts, going, etc. it won't change. It's not hurting them, so why should they care. When they have half the cart fleet sitting there, not being rented, THEN maybe they will see....hmmmm....maybe we should fix this. But people keep paying it, and so it will be business as usual.

I have had my cart for 5 years. Other than the water in the batteries every summer I have spent exactly $0 dollars on it until this year. It is now sitting at Tungpo's house with new wheels, rims and paint job. I will also be adding a radio and 4 new seats before I leave with it on my trailer. I have about $1,500.00 in parts and labor. If you divide that into my 5 years it is very little compared to what I would pay disney. I stay from June to Aug every year plus at least 4 other visits. There is no way in heck I will rent a cart from them for that long. So, with that said, if Disney bans all outside carts I guess Tungpo will be painting my cart again, this time a green (disney green) and I will be ordering sticker/numbers to go on the side. I win, Tungpo wins and Disney wins because I will still be visiting.

Thanks, Tungpo, my cart looks great!:thumbsup2

MrsGus is gonna have the sharpest looking cart at the Halloween GG or at least til Saturday morning. Ron really did a great job and the cart is really sporty looking.

Disney's answer will be to raise the price of the carts.

Yeah, instead of taking 5 minutes to think about the problem they figure hey, we need more money. Never thought of giving a discount so people will rent more carts. Wow, and I could've had a V8.

Maybe they can sweeten the deal by offering free dining with each golf cart rental - that will bring them in - free slop with every overpriced rental, if you can get a reservation.

Given that the Fort occupancy rate is down and most likely the cart rental as well, instead of making the place more attractive financially, Disney has chosen to bleed the faithful even more. Its a big wide country out there and there are for darn sure better values in camping, I sure hope Disney gets over their current case of rectal cranial inversion before I take my marbles and go someplace else with my money.

I'm telling ya, this is all part of the Mouse's master plan - FW fails financially, Disney uses this failure as justification to take the property and build a DVC resort for quick, short term profits. It's brilliance if you are just interested in short term gain, which seems to be the current business plan for many companies today.

I'm gonna play devils advocate here. . .

does McDonald's let someone from Hardee's come in and sell hamburgers, no. so why should Disney allow someone to come onto their private property & rent out golf carts.

Do yall even know how much it cost for them to have them, insure them, charge them, wash them, and service them? it totally makes sense for disney to put a stop to the deliveries.

Disney rents strollers-but allows outside companies to deliver rental strollers to resorts(Disney stores them)

Disney rents refrigerators-but allows outside companies to deliver them to resorts (Disney stores them)

I could go on-but I think you get the idea.

Thanks for the complements, 'GOLF CARTS RULE' Mrs Gus your cart is looking BAD A..!!! I didnt take any before pics so if you have any post them

I'm sorry, ron, but I wasn't smart enough to take before picts. However, I am really excited about picking it up on my way to Orlando next Friday! :woohoo:

I need some after pics. You can't make a post like that with no pic.

What??!!! This is the first time we've ever rented from an outside company! We're finally going to get to camp at Ft Wilderness in our very own camper (we camped with my parents before we got our own) on our very own 8 day vacation to Ft Wilderness, and I might have to give up my cart? I already paid half to Kenny and called him just this morning to pay the other half. He never called me back. This was before I knew of all of this. Now it is too late to rent one from Disney I'm sure.....not that I'd be renting one for 8 days like I did from Kenny. Ugh! I hope everything works out.

Don't panic... as of now it seems that Kenny is still not having any problems delivering carts, and folks here have reported getting carts from him in the last several days.

Just meet him outside where the guard shack was they tore down (Golf Course side) unload it and drive it in thru the overflow parking area they will never know.

We have just returned from our first visit to the Fort. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge last year, and decided to stay onsite again but somewhere different.
So we stayed in a cabin.
We made the right choice, our kids loved the Fort and we having all become addicted to "looping"

Maybe I am missing something here.

We rented our cart before we left the UK, the business transaction was finalised before we got on the plane.

We didn't see anyone in the overflow car park offering Golf Carts to rent.

If Disney are going to stop "deliveries" to the Fort, who else does that include?

Off site florists, the Pizza guy, car rental companies, grocery deliveries?

I'm afraid your arguement does stand up unless Disney bans all deliveries to their property.

I think that a lot of people would start staying offsite if nothing could be delivered to them, regardless of what it is.

It seems to me that Disney are discriminating against the companies concerned. It has to be all or none.

You outlined my plan exactly, now keep quiet ;)

Of course now that we have the Disney po po on this board these tricks may not work! This is our plan also or if needed we will rent the trailer to haul it in.

Who wants to rent my trailer ? For what the carts rent for a month you can buy a nice one. I am thinking of bringing my old yamaha cart to the fort to sell.

just kidding..
