Goin' to see the Mouse for Spring Break~just me and Fiance at POP-Update 3/20

I did mention my ADR's once I made them back in September, but I am going to go through them one by one and talk about what looks good on the menu. :surfweb:

What about souvenirs you have your eyes on. ADRs are good!

Food and shopping - both of those will be fun to talk about! :cool1:
I have more experience with both of them than a person should have, as seen by my increasing waistline and my decreasing bank account.

And the winner is...

All7OfUs with 45 points! I think she only missed one or two clues the whole game! So Liesa, you get to choose something you want a picture of or you want me to pose by. Make it interesting, but not TOO hard or crazy! :rotfl: You also get a postcard sent from me while there as well, so if you could just PM me your address that would be great!

*********************************

And now, onto something new. Since my stomach is growling, I say we start discussing my ADR's and food since we're almost a month away! I'm not sure for what I'm ordering, but it's fun to look around. :woohoo:

Sunday, March 14:

We arrive this day, probably in the late afternoon. Of course, we'll be heading to the MK that night. We don't have any ADR's made for this night, so we'll be eating at a CS place.

Now, we have two favorites at the MK: Pinnochio's and Cosmic Ray's.

At Pinnochio's, I love to get the Mediterranean Salad which the menu says is: Made with mixed greens, chicken, and mozzarella cheese. For dessert, I'll probably either get the strawberry shortcake or a cannoli.

At Cosmic Ray's, I've had the Half Rotisserie Chicken which the menu says is: Served with mashed potatoes and a seasonal vegetable. I've also had the Chicken Nuggets which comes with either french fries or apple slices. For dessert, I've had every choice! HAHA They are: a brownie, carrot cake, strawberry yogurt, or triple chocolate cake.

So, to make things more interesting, what is your favorite MK CS place to eat and what do you get?

Oh Gosh!!!! 2 super hard things to answer in one post. The pressure!!!!

OK- Here's your photo challenge: If it's possible, I'd love to see you OR DF in 10 different hats. Here are two examples:

A hoody and a baseball cap you brought from home doesn't count! I think you'll have a blast doing this!

OK, favorite counter service: Boy it's really a toss up between Columbia Harbor House where I'd get a tuna sandwich and fries, or Pecos Bills where I'd get a chicken wrap and load it up at the toppings bar with Huge amounts of mushrooms and grilled onions. I dont' know if the fake cheese is still there or not, but if they had it, I'd smear that all over my fries in huge artery clogging amounts. :thumbsup2 I guess where I went would depend on how hungry I was.

Columbia Harbor House is my favorite CS in the MK. Can't say I have a favorite dish but I really love the atomosphere and location.

Hey Tink! Sorry I've been MIA for so long... But I'm all caught up!

First of all, I'm so sorry about your friend. I'll say a prayer for her right now. Please keep us updated.

And I think the new ADR thing sounds great!! :thumbsup2 We actually really liked leaving the MK and going to the Contempo Cafe while we were at the MK. The flatbread pizza is amazing!!

That is great! We did this on our first trip, we took photos in every country with a hat that represented that country. We also took photos in different hats at each park. It was a blast!!

That is such a fun photo challenge! I'll try to do my best! :)

Ooooh both of those are nice CS places!

Columbia Harbor House is my favorite CS in the MK. Can't say I have a favorite dish but I really love the atomosphere and location.

I have to admit, I can't remember the last time I've been in CHH! :flower3:

Hey girl! You made it back over!

Thanks so much for your kind words. I will keep you guys updated.

Is Contempo Cafe the "food court" at the Contemporary now?

This definately sounds like a lot of fun!

Update

Monday, March 15:

Today is our DHS day! We have an 11:30 a.m. ADR at the Hollywood Brown Derby. This is our first time ever eating here, so we're excited.

Looking at the menu, I really think the Agnolotti Pasta with Rock Shrimp sounds good. The menu says it's made with artichoke hearts, and fried peppers tossed in extra virgin olive oil and shaved garlic. But, if I'm in the mood for a salad, I'll have to get the Famous Brown Derby Cobb Salad, which is made with finely chopped greens, turkey breast, egg, bacon, tomatoes, crumbled bleu cheese, avocado, chives, and cobb dressing. I can also add chicken to that! For dessert, the Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower sounds good, which is served on a cocoa almond cookie and Bananas "Foster". YUM. Or the Flourless Chocolate Cake sounds good too, which is served with Port Wine sauce, fresh berries, and sweetened creme fraiche.

So, looks like I have lots of decisions to make there. :rotfl:

We're staying at DHS for the night and evening EMH's until 11 p.m. So, we'll be eating CS for dinner. We'll either go to Toy Story Pizza Planet, where I love the Toy Story Salad, which comes with Kalamata olives, pepperoncini, feta cheese, onions, and tomatoes topped with Balsamic vinaigrette. Or we'll go to Catalina Eddie's, which as a good Chicken Caesar Salad.

Where's your favorite TS and CS places at DHS?

When we were planning for our April, 2008 trip, EVERY review I read of ANY restaurant there sucked, so we opted out- EXCEPT we stopped in for a snack at Starring Rolls. It was too early for lunch so we were only there for coffee and pastries, but they were just bringing the sandwiches out, and they were luscious looking!! I mean it! THey were loaded with meat and looked so, so tasty!! So, I'd say if you were in the mood for a sanny, I'd check it out.

I haven't had the pleasure of dining at Brown Derby yet, so I'll look forward to your reviews. You know all of our DIS friends speak highly of it. :)

We like to go to Toy Story Pizza Planet because
we like Toy Story
and pizza
and it's just got a fun environment. :dance3:

I'm guessing sometime between an early lunch ADR and a CS dinner you might get some ice cream from Gertie or a souvenir bucket of hot popcorn from a kiosk or a gigantic sweet treat from Starring Rolls.

At Magic Kingdom, I'm definitely all about the rotisserie chicken. ::yes::

Favorite CS: Definitely Pizza Planet!

Favorite TS: Prime Time or Sci-Fi. :thumbsup2

Your plans look great so far! March 15 is my sister's birthday. hehe

Stopping back by before I turn in for the night to bring you some POP happiness.

Do you remember the 'hidden' dancers from when I put this on the TR? :rotfl:

Geez! I totally forgot!! We ate at the Sci-Fi, too. It was OK. THeming was great- we loved the old clips and roared with laughter, but the food was very "meh". Burgers and shakes.... whatever.

I will have to look there!

Of course I'll be sharing my reviews!

I think the little guy is going to love Pizza Planet. He's obsessed with Toy Story right now!

Ooooh..ice cream, popcorn, or a huge sweet treat?! Too many choices!

Favorite CS: Definitely Pizza Planet!

Favorite TS: Prime Time or Sci-Fi. :thumbsup2

I haven't been to Prime Time or Sci-Fi!

I do! :rotfl:

You crack me up Liesa. :)

i'm here! a little late! but late is better than never!

*keala*

WELCOME!

Tuesday, March 16:

Today is Epcot/MK day. We have an 8:30 a.m. ADR at Kona Cafe! And of course, I know for sure I'm getting the Tonga Toast! For those of you who don't know what that is, it's banana-stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar. YUM.

Then, we'll walk over to the TTC and hop on the Epcot monorail. We'll hang out there until it's time for our 2:05 p.m. ADR at Le Cellier. I've been there before, but Fiance has not. I knew this was one place he'd love. Looking at the menu, there's a few things that look good to me: Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon, which is served with wild mushroom risotto and white truffle-herb butter sauce. Or Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken, which is Romaine lettuce, parmesan, sourdough croutons, and a creamy Caesar dressing. Or Salmon "BLT" , which has grilled salmon, vine-ripened tomato, pancetta, watercress, and chive sour cream.

For dessert, I'll either have the cheesecake or the creme brulee.

So, for those of you who have been to Kona- what is your favorite thing to get for breakfast?

Also, where is your favorite place to eat at when at Epcot?

I will second what Liesa said about Starring Rolls. The sandwiches are huge. Although we have never eaten there. I didn't mind Pizza Planet. We have eaten at Eddie's Cantina a few times for a sandwich.. it's right near RnRC and ToT.

We never have eaten a TS in DHS.:confused3

You are making me incredibly hungry

Every trip Tonga Toast is a 'must do' and never happens... The 16th might be my favorite day so far especially if you may have Cheesecake.

At Epcot, believe it or not, we really enjoyed the Biergarten.

I've eaten at several places in EPCOT- The Italian Joint (can't remember the name of it and I'm too lazy to go look it up) which was very mediocre, the Marakesh, which was very bland compared to what real Moroccan should be; the Yakitori House (CS), again, Top Ramen in a fancy plastic dish, The Akershus twice- first time was in 2000 and was fabulous, but then they messed with a good thing, dumbed it down and went with blando Americanized crapola. It grieves my hungry heart, to see this happening to the EPCOT places!! :headache:

Anyway, IF I were to try Le Cell. I'd go for that salad!! I'm dying for ANYTHING green and fresh right now!!! ANYTHING!!!! OK, I'm better...

The filet sounds good, but like I just said on another thread, I'd go for a VERY well done vegetarian dish before I'd go with a steak any day. Just me... ;)

Never been to Kona for breakfast, but I think it's almost required that you get the Tonga Toast.

At Epcot, we like Biergarten. Sausages, Potatoes, Kraut, Black Forest Cake...what more could you want? Oh, and I forgot beer!
