Don't mind the half eaten pineapple!!! popcorn::

Don't flame me. . .I am not enamored by the thought of tonga toast--it's not something I think I want to try. . .

Ooh! We are trying yak & yeti for the first time this trip. It sounds pretty good. I'm wishing all the best for your friend and I hope that she is able to recover. it sounds like she has a wonderful support system to get her through this.

We will have to check out Starring Rolls for sure! You guys should really try Mama Melrose sometime! It's SO good.

We usually make DHS an early night. So we are out of there and are able to get to bed a little earlier, or go to DTD. We are yet to see Fantasmic! but I'm sure we will check it out with-in the next year or so.

Melody has wanted to eat at Mama Melrose, so I'm sure I'll be trying it out sooner or later. popcorn::

That's exactly what I"m hoping for!! Everyone getting a little something different, and us all trying each others!! :thumbsup2

Is their coffee as good as everyone says it is??
Good idea of sharing the plates!

Remember there are 2 different coffees at Kona... 10% blend and 100% pressed pot.

Update:

For those of you who read about my friend who has just been diagnosed with leukemia, she is still hanging in there! I talked to her on Friday around 3 p.m. and she said she had been getting blood since 9 a.m.! We also just found out that they are having a benefit for her March 6th with lots of nice stuff like 50/50 raffle. I hope a lot of people show up. They really need the money for the hospital bills and stuff.

Now on with the trip...

Wednesday, March 17:

Today is our AK day. We have a 1 p.m. ADR at Yak & Yeti. Because one of our other meals takes 2 TS credits, we're paying OOP for this one.

I love getting the Steamed Mussels, which are fresh Prince Edward Isle black mussels, white wine, lemon grass, and Thai basil-scented broth. I also love getting the House Salad, which is Romaine and iceberg lettuce, almonds, sesame seeds and sesame dressing. So good!

It's also evening EMH's at AK, so we'll be there for dinner as well. For CS, we've had a hard time finding a place we really really like. Pizzafari is good if you're in the mood for that. We were thinking of maybe heading over to AKL and eating at The Mara, which we love.

Where at AK do you like to eat?

Glad to hear your friend is going OK. I hope the benefit turns out great.

I love Flame Tree. I usually get the pulled pork sandwich and a beer. Juliana likes Pizzafari and I think Mel does too. Mel gets a salad and Ana gets a pizza. But we loved Y&Y last time. I got the honey chicken & pork rolls, and Mel got the shrimp lo-main and loved it.

I really want to try Tusker House for breakfast...... one of these times.:goodvibes

I've only ever had Flame Tree, and we LOVED it!! THey have a fresh fruit plate which comes with a honey yogurt dip that is perfect. The BBQ pork sanny was terrific, and we are beany kind of people so we loved those too. I have heard though, that a lot of folks don't like them. I guess it depends on what you like. Overall, we'd go back and gave it a thumbs up. Plus, you can't beat the seating!! It is stunningly beautiful around the lily pond with EE in the background. :thumbsup2

I've just never tried Flame Tree because it doesn't appeal to me. :confused3 But, everyone has their own likes/dislikes-so I'm glad you found something you love!

we're gonna eat at Yak&Yeti also when we go to AK! All the food looks so delicious! Can't wait to eat the Fried Wontons everyone talks about!

The food is so good! Plus, it's so neat inside!

Last summer, for the two days that we had lunch at AK, one day we brought in sandwiches that we had made in our suite that morning, and the other day we got food from the Yak and Yeti window service.

But, one thing we almost did, was use that "picnic in the park" thing they were doing. I think they've tweaked it a lot, if not discontinued it altogether, but at the time you would put in your order in the morning and then pick up your food at lunchtime (I forget where) and eat anywhere in the park. I think they had a sandwich/wrap option (less expensive) and a chicken option (more expensive), maybe more.

We were thinking about doing that 'picnic in the park' thing last trip too. It sounds pretty neat for those who don't want to bother with a restaurant or waiting.

Hey, everyone has their own likes/dislikes. No biggie. :)

I hope you like it there! We always do.

Thanks so much for your kind words.

See..now you have to try Mama Melrose...for Melody's sake!

I'm sure the benefit is going to have a good crowd. She's a very likeable person.

I do love Pizzafari when we're in the mood for that. But Yak & Yeti is SO good. Fiance got the honey chicken too!

We are trying Tusker House in July with the whole family!

Thursday, March 18:

Oh boo, already the last full day. :sad2: Of course, we're spending it at the MK!!! :thumbsup2 We have a 1 p.m. ADR at the Contemporary's The Wave. This is our first time there, so it's going to be crazy going in there thinking that's where the food court and arcade used to be!

By looking at the menu, I think I might try the Italian Chef Salad, which is mixed greens tossed with red wine vinaigrette served with prosciutto, cappicola, provolone, salami, and shaved parmesan. Or I might try the Mediterranean Tuna Salad, which is herb-crusted seared ahi tuna with green beans, potatoes, roasted red peppers, and olive toast. Or the Spice-crusted Chicken Salad sounds good, which is made with local greens, apples, and crispy polenta croutons.

For dessert, there are two things I am going to have to decide between: the Creamy Indulgence, which is cheesecake with raspberry coulis, Coconut panna cotta with passion fruit drizzle, or Chocolate-passion fruit mousse with pecan-olive brittle; or the Crispy and Crunchy, which is vanilla-braised Pineapple spears, Almond-pineapple-raisin "Baklava", or Zucchini-carrot cake with vanilla panna cotta.

For dinner, it's CS time again. We might either eat at the MK or head over to the Poly at eat at Capt. Cook's.

So, what's your favorite TS at the MK? And what is your favorite TS or CS at any of the monorail resorts?

oh - our some of our fave meals have been at the Poly. We always do ohana's just for the bread pudding. yum. We also always have a good experience at Kona. Can you believe you will be there next month?!

I've never eaten a TS at MK or ANY of the mono resorts!! I guess that's why we have a TON of them planned for our next trip. Cali Grill is at the top of my list, followed closely by 'Ohana! mmmmmmmm!

That menu looks great at The Wave too. The Italian one sure sounds good. :thumbsup2 Oh, heck, all of them sound good! I'd have a hard time choosing one- that's for sho!

OOOOH those pics look good Dawn! Is the pressed pot coffee on the dining plan?

i can't remember but i'm pretty sure it's not. but if you're a coffee lover it's totally worth the out-of-pocket expense, especially if your fiance is too because it's big enough to share!

Where at AK do you like to eat?

our breakfast at tusker house last trip was EXCELLENT! we were all very impressed.

and i love flame tree, too. their BBQ was yummy!

So, what's your favorite TS at the MK? And what is your favorite TS or CS at any of the monorail resorts?

i've only eaten at liberty tree tavern and crystal palace as far as TSs at MK. LTT was okay but really we were there for the characters. the food was good but honestly i believe it wheni hear that it's frozen stouffer's! CP was really yummy and the character interaction was great.

as far as mono resorts, my favorites are kona cafe (breakfast and dinner) and narcoosee's. they are both SO YUMMY!!!!!! i ate at ohana in 2007 and wasn't that impressed. i know, i know....i'm expecting to lose my dis card any day now by saying that, but i think it's overrated. it was chaotic and i couldn't hear myself think and the meat was really dry. i've also eaten at 1900 park fare for dinner and that was pretty good too! and the stepsisters were a riot! i haven't had any CSs at the monorail resorts but i hear captain cook's is very good.

so glad to hear your friend is doing well. i hope she continues to improve. and hopefully the fundraiser will be a success!

wow- the dessert at The Wave sounds amazing.. its mouthwatering.. hehe I would prob choose the cheesecake or the pineapple one. But all of them sound delicious! and I hate last days!

Oooh that bread pudding is good!

I can't believe we'll be there in almost a month! It hasn't hit me yet.

OMG, Liesa, you have to try some of those places!

We're going to try the Cali Grill on our honeymoon. I'll tell you how The Wave is in my TR when we get home.

Hmm...we'll have to decide if we want to do the coffee or not.

We had fun eating at LTT the one time we tried it, but the food just wasn't for us.

Kona Cafe is so good. We'll be eating there for dinner in July and I'm so excited. Capt.Cook's at the Poly is SO good!

You know I love 1900 PF and the step-sisters.

They all sound good don't they?! :rotfl:

Oh definitely!

I'm so mad that I missed your game! I LOVE games!

BTW, Tom and I stayed at Pop for a long weekend 2 winters ago. It was fine for the 2 of us. We paid for a preferred location and we requested (and got) a king bed room which made the room seem a little bigger but like a pp said, the bathroom was handicap accessible which causes a little shower leakage! The buses were a little crazy because there is only one bus stop but they are set up with queues like the bus lines from the parks. Here's a pic I took of the CRAZY bus stop!

The King bed!

I was so intrigued by the abandoned Legendary Years section that I spent a good amount of time across the Generation Gap bridge trying to check it out! and also practiced my new camera's panaramic feature!

Aw, I'm sorry you missed the game too! I'm sure I'll think of another one for my July PTR!

Thanks for the pics! I'm so excited to stay somewhere new. I'm just nervous about the bus stop situation! Oh well, we won't let it ruin our trip if it gets bad.

Wow, I love your pic of the bridge!

Time for another Pop picture or two.

Okay, four.

Just four.

:goodvibes

Oh, MeMom. You brighten my day. :goodvibes I, for some reason, love the pic of the lil' kids' tv area.

Morning TG!! I like the kids' area too! So cute!
But that bus stop is frightening! :scared1:

Update:

For those of you celebrating, I hope everyone has a good Valentine's Day weekend! :lovestruc

I thought I'd post what I am looking forward to buying on our trip:

We're not big into the photopass thing, but we always get a pic on Main Street every trip for the Disney frame in the living room. This trip, it will just be Fiance and I!

I'll also probably get either a little Tink statue or something, or a Tink pic frame. I have an increasing collection of both from buying them every trip as well.

I have to get Mom a new Mickey antenna for her car. The poor one we got in June has already lost an ear. :guilty: So, I'm going to surprise her with that.

Sis loves Cinderella, so I'll probably get her something of her unless something else catches my eye.

Dad is going to be the hard one. I'm thinking of getting him a cool Mickey shirt or something to wear for our July trip.

Food wise: I have to buy a cinnamon roll at the Main Street Bakery. YUM!

I always buy dh 2 or 3 shot glasses from Disney. He isn't that much of a drinker (remember me June TR, lol), but he does like to collect them. Just a thought.
