Yo ho, yo ho, it's a pirate's life for me. Of course, it's PoTC! And it's even better now that they've added Capt. Jack Sparrow to the ride! Here's what the WDW website has to say about it:

"Pirates of the Caribbean, a classic attraction in Magic Kingdom theme park that appeals to big kids, teens and adults, features a 14-foot drop over a waterfall into pirate caves. The boat then floats through a town where pirates are pillaging and Captain Jack Sparrow is hiding.

The Pirates of the Caribbean journey begins at the end of the Adventureland area where a skeleton pirate sits in a crow's nest attached to a ship's mast. He guards the stately Spanish fortress, El Castillo - Torre del Sol. Pass under his black sail and pirate flag to the cool, covered, cavernous queue quarters. If ye be seekin' adventure, climb aboard a boat.

Pirates of the Caribbean Sack the Spanish Main

Take heed: there may be rough waters ahead. Or at least a quick plunge over a 14-foot waterfall! Land in the middle of a pirate battle. The Wicked Wench galleon blasts canons under the direction of Captain Barbossa, who demands the capture of Captain Jack Sparrow. Can you spot Sparrow before his archenemy does?

Around the Pirates of the Caribbean Town

As you meander through the town, keep a look out for Captain Jack Sparrow. He's on the lookout for the treasure map, the key to the town's riches—as are the other roguish swashbucklers who are trying to beat him to the booty. Even the town's magistrate, Carlos, can't escape the pirates' inquisition. He gets dunked in the water well while being asked, Where's Cap'n Jack?

Meet more Pirates of the Caribbean as they jauntily sing their theme. "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirates Life for Me," they declare as they chase ham-carrying maidens.

In the town being pillaged by the Pirates of the Caribbean, there are rackets and revelry. Chess-playing pirates remain locked in an everlasting moment of stalemate. A mischievous mutt holds the key to release the imprisoned pirates—but he's not giving it up for all the bones in the dungeon. The wenches are wily. A salty marauder hangs his hairy leg over the edge of a bridge. Even the cats are surly. Buildings burn. The town has been plundered. Is this the work of Captain Jack?

The next answer is Splash Mountain! I love the characters from the Paddlewheel boat scene! They took them off of one of my favorite attractions from when I was growing up at Disneyland- America Sings.

This is kind of a back sitting area between the gift shop and the food court. This section is the last area to get crowded, just FYI.

This one is from the end of the kiddie pool, and looking back toward the right is the Hippy Dippy pool and Classic Hall.

The person in the Mickey Phone picture is our friend, Kay, who has gone with us on a few trips. She wanted to show her family how huge the Mickey phone really was. She said they'd never believe it unless they saw her standing next to it!

Nope, she doesn't have any children. They just got married in October. He's been staying there every night with her. Such a nice hubby. She does have her parents and grandparents here as well. I think she does have good insurance-let's hope! I'll keep everyone updated on her as I hear from her.

Life Update

Today I would like to ask a favor of my DIS readers. My good friend from high school just informed me that she has Leukemia. It's come as a complete shock to everyone. She was feeling really tired and weak for the past few weeks, so she went to the doctor. They couldn't find anything wrong, so they did some tests. To make a long story short, she eventually had to have a bone marrow test, which told them what she had. She's in the hospital now, and started chemo on Monday. She'll have to be in the hospital anywhere from 3 to 5 months depending on how chemo goes. She's only 23, just married her high school sweetheart in October. So my favor to you is: please keep her in your prayers and thoughts. She has so much left to live for.

That is terrible. I will keep my thoughts with her. It is a horrible thing to have to go through, but if you have good friends to be there for you and help you through it helps. She is lucky to have you to get her through.

#9 of my Top 10 MK Favorites

Of course, it's one of the 3 MK mountains -Splash Mountain! I'll never forget my first time riding with Sis and Mom. It was back before they had fast passes, so we ended up waiting in line for at least 2 hours! We were able to get Dad on it- he was fine and didn't get motion sickness! Now it's one of his favorite rides. Here's what the WDW website has to say about it:

"Splash Mountain, a popular flume ride at Magic Kingdom theme park, offers big thrills to big kids, teens and adults.

On Splash Mountain, Gotta Be Movin' On

Say goodbye to Br'er Rabbit; he's leaving his home in search of a little more adventure, a bit of fortune and his laughing place—where he can live the life that suits him best.

Watch as he outwits Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox, escapes their clutches and slips out of sticky situations. Plummet into dark caves and tumble over gentle waterfalls… until Br'er Rabbit's taunting catches up to him—and he's finally caught!

From the confines of Br'er Fox's cave at the top of Chickapin Hill on Splash Mountain, Br'er Rabbit tricks Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox one more time. Don't throw me down, down, down into the briar-brimmed pond, he pleads. Anyplace but there!

After this ultimate plunge, drift past more southern critters aboard a lively Mississippi riverboat. Sing along with them, for it's a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day! Everyone has a Laughing Place—maybe Splash Mountain is yours.

The Backstory

The wise Br'er Frog has a premonition: if Br'er Rabbit leaves his comfortable briar-patch home on Splash Mountain—protected by the prickly plants and dense, thorny vines—he'll be caught by Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox for sure!

Br'er Frog's words don't stop Br'er Rabbit from movin' on. Join him on his journey around and through Splash Mountain.

Will You Get Wet?

The twists, turns and 3 dips that lead to the grand drop down 5 stories of rushing water will either get you damp or drenched. If soaked is your goal, request a seat in the front or sit on the right side of the hollowed-out log.

Other Disney Mountains

One of 3 Magic Kingdom "mountain" attractions, Splash Mountain shares its big thrill classification with Space Mountain and its location in the Frontierland area with the mild but wild Big Thunder Mountain Railroad."
