My daughter and her family live in Australia. They are going on a Disney Cruise from Australia. If I send them a Disney gift card/Disney e-gift card purchased from the US, can they use the card on an Australian cruise? I ask because stores in the US who have partner stores in Australia, do NOT allow you to use US gift cards in their Australian stores. Example Target and Amazon. You have to buy their Australian counterparts.

Thanks for the help.

I unfortunately do not know the answer to your question, however have you thought about sending them an on board credit as a gift through DCL instead?

I believe onboard charges are in USD $ and processed through Celebration FL regardless of itinerary/locale. So I’d be surprised if a U.S. gift card couldn’t be used. Just make sure it is one that can be used on DCL and not limited to parks or TDS.

A question on PlanDisney last year was answered with Yes In Sep 2022.

I can’t find any mention that this would be a problem - as this is a Disney-owned ship/ company. (As opposed to Tokyo Disneyland, which is not owned by The Disney Co.)

She (or you) should be able to make an Online Gift of Onboard Credit (or pay against the cruise balance). I love having Onboard Credit (even when I give it to myself). You have a little note in your room when you board.

If you have a Target Red Card, you can save 5% off face value of the card (including e-cards).

YES :)

I go to Disneyland California every June. I have one of the special Star Wars Disney gift cards called The Spira. I load it with US Dollars money when I am in Disneyland California.

When I do online checkin with Disney Cruise I select CASH as a payment method.

Then on embarkation day I got to guest services and use my Spira Disney Gift Card to put money onto my onboard account. The Guest Services know how to add a Disney Gift Card.

The ship is in US Dollars, it does not matter the location of the ship. Its the same in Europe.

If you are only going to use it on the ship, I think loading it as onboard credit would be the safest way, as someone already suggested.
