Ghost Hunters Thread & Personal Ghost Experiences & other Paranormal Talk.

Yeah I saw that floating along the web. It's obviousley the statue. I don't see how giving the homeowner the tape to try to debunk it would help the situation. I mean, the guy called you for a reason, if he could debunk ghosts then why would he need Taps at all. Not to mention, when do shadows have reflections? I know that there are serious issues with homeowners that have paranormal activity affecting their children and themselves. I just wish Taps would focus more on that then the cheap thrills that boost ratings.

I love this how... we went to the Queen Mary in long beach to take the haunted tour..it was cool and hokey at the same time.
Who is that little girl Steve has tattooed on his arm? always curious..

Well, I hear that Sci-Fi has been pushing for more action, which is been causing alot of supposedly "set up" scares, which is the main reason you don't see as many house investigations as in previous years. I also heard that Sci-Fi told Jay and Grant that they wanted a better looking girl for the show, and they chose Kris for them. As you can see here, she's been an actress before they put her on the show http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1366043/ She even has a cameo in the new movie 21....

I find that really annoying. I found her really annoying right from the start. On her first ghost hunt she started in with 'talking to the ghost' about how she was abused by her former boyfriend so she could relate to them. Give me a break, she was playing the sympathy card right from the start. I didn't like chris in the first place, and now I find out she's an actress. :sad2: I'm going to write the Sci-Fi channel and voice my opinion about Chris and I would encourage everyone else to do the same.

I miss Donna, I thought she was much more personable.

I still occasionally watch Ghost Hunters, although I am getting very tired of the ‘stingers’ right before the commercials. You know what I mean: two of the ghost hunters are peering into some dark space; suddenly, there is a noise! Wild confusion as the camera jerks around and the ghost hunters start yelling!

Cut to commercial.

Back to the action: replay of what we have just seen, then Steve (or whoever) says “It was just me; I accidentally hit my flashlight against this big iron pot”. Everyone laughs.

It has gotten to the point that when I watch a Tivo’ed episode I fast-forward to just before the commercial so I can see the stinger, then guess what reason will be given when the commercials are over.

I also do not understand why they always insist on turning off the lights when they begin the investigation. On one episode the homeowner clearly reported that the ghostly being was usually seen in the library room when all the lights were on. Never in the daytime, but at night, when the lights are on. Do the ghost hunters try to recreate the situation by leaving the lights on? Of course not. They turn them off. Maybe some spirits require the electrical fields to appear.

My favorite episode is the Florida Lighthouse. However, I do not believe that they saw a ghost peering over the railing at the top of the lighthouse. The film shows a shadowy being at or near the top of the circular stairs inside the lighthouse. The ghost hunters make a point about how it looks like the spirit is leaning over the railing to peer down at them. Indeed, it looks exactly like a person would look if a person were at the top and was peering down over the railing.

My point: a ghost would not have to peer over the railing. Why would a ghost peer over a railing anyway? If a ghost wanted to look down at the ghost hunters, why not just float over the space and look down, or stick his or her head down through the floor? Why lean over a railing? It is not how the ghosts I’m familiar with behave.

If you want good, cheesy fun, watch Most Haunted, the English show. They always find ghosts, usually pretty wicked. People are constantly being hit by ghosts, off-camera. They start screaming at the smallest thing, and the psychic-guy always gets the ghosts to talk to him and tell him their life story. Then, of course, the ghosts usually attack the psychic. The 2006 Halloween episode was the best ever.

We love the show, but I couldn't agree more! I have tried to watch some of the other shows out there, but none are as good.

Did anyone watch GH International? I didn't care for that either...

Watched it, but grew tired of it way quick. I think it's because I don't like the majority of the GHs on that show (especially the smaller guy, can't remember his name). I also agree with PPs - dump Kris, bring back Donna.

The ghost would peer down because that's what a person would do. Ghosts are generally said to behave like live people - they supposedly don't exactly understand that they're dead. As for the dark, I don't know of a single ghost hunter group that doesn't do their thing in the dark.

Donna is a member of the GHI show and if it were me I wouldn't give that up for anything! She gets to go the best places. Kris may be an actress but not a particularly experienced one and she shows less personality than some of the others. I wonder if the TAPS people have ever commented on her joining the team?

Yes. My understanding is, even though they don't have physical bodies, they're trying to project their energy in such a way that people will understand whatever it is they're trying to tell us. Pretty neat, really.

This thread has bummed me out a bit. Not the thread, the info. It's too bad that networks have to interfere with the integrity of the product. Around here, a lot of news anchors were recently fired. But guess whose jobs, according to news reports, are safe? The young, "hot" ones - so people will watch. I didn't know about Kris, but I guess I'm not surprised.

I don't know about Kris. Is she an actress who happened to be interested in ghost hunting and SciFi wanted her because she might be prettier? Or does she just happen to be an actress? Like I said she's not particularly experienced and you'd think that they'd go with someone with actual experience but who knows?

A bit OT but a local wrestling company had a brief show made about the family that ran the company. The characters were real and the wrestling was real (well as real as it gets ;) ) but everything else was pretty much staged. The logic seemed to be that we need to get what you're about but we have to plan it out so it makes sense. It seemed odd though.

From what Taps says, she wasn't casted and Jay and her were friends "forever" but she's 27 and went to school in New Hampshire so who knows how true that is. Kris backs up the story and says she was too busy with going to school and family to fit into their schedule, and when she was free they had no investigations. She never answers questions about her background as an actress or how she owns her own photography company, which some feel helped her if she sent her headshots in to Sci-Fi. Meanwhile, she didn't know how to work a camera on one of the episodes. It's too fishy for me to believe she just joined Taps and at the same time Donna leaves. And since when do start out investigators become case managers. Every episode it seems that Kris is telling the guys where the next adventure is, which was Donna's job. :confused3

I like the show and believe it's authentic at the core, but dressed up by the producers and editors. After all, they couldn't care less about ghosts and the bottom line for them is money. It's too bad a different network doesn't pick up Ghost Hunters and keep it more of a documentary than a reality show. Even as it is, it's better than just about anything else on TV.

What I would really like to see is for them to get funding from research institutions, retire from being plumbers, and go full-time.

As far as Ghost Hunters International goes, I remember the first episode had Jason and Grant hand-picking the team, so I have to think the two shows are related.

I agree with you, it needs to be more like a documentary- they should can the sensationalism and just report the facts-no more of those 'gotchas' right before the commercial break either.

I like your tag GeorgeG- fits well with the thread. ;)

I liked GHI as a show, I mean how much better could investigations get then going into all these old areas where so much has gone on? I did not like the leader (Rob?) he came across as so arrogant and 'Mr. Know-it-all' to me.

Some of the shows have me going :scared1: and others leave me :confused3 , but I still watch them all. The lighthouse one freaked my daughter and I outbig time. The other that really got us was the one in a store and the owners thought they knew who it was and the voice said "not jean" :scared1: :scared1:

So much better than the other shows out there.

That was my favorite episode, and creeeepppyy! :scared: Could you imagine you think you have a 'visitor' of someone you knew and it turns out NOT to be them. :scared1:

Just joining the conversation-I love GH and wasn't very fond of GHI either. Thanks for starting this thread!:surfweb:

My favorite episode was the one at the Crescent Hotel maybe because we've been there often. That place is beautiful and eerie and them catching something didn't surprise me a bit.

I agree with those that said that GH was better than most shows. Actually even GHI is better than most shows nowadays. TV is really lame for the most part.

I love GH! However, I have also started reading:

http://www.skepticalviewer.com/

This is a very good blog regarding the GH and sort of explains some of the more sensationalistic aspects of the show.

I'm sort of ticked off that Kris Williams is a professional actress! No wonder ghosts never reveal themselves to her... She's a fraud! :lmao:

I love GH

Its one of the shows DH and I love to sit down and watch together. Brian is a brat though, he annoys me

I had not seen the Florida episode when I vistited the light house. Infact I had only seen GH a couple of times as I do not have cable. I had my son take pictures in the light house standing at the bottom of the staircase and pointing to teh top. When we looked at them on the computer we could see something at the top in the photo. At first I thought it might be peeling paint when we zoomed it it was the outline image of a little boy or girl complete with hair parted on the side and what looked like a marcel. The hands were seen holding on to the railing on either side of the head. Well I had not seen anything to do with Gh and this show at the time but my whole family thought it looked like a little child from the last century. Fast forward to last summer ( I went in summer of 06) and I am watching Gh on the tv at our hotel in FLa(the only time I watch cable). They had the lighthouse episode on and I could not believe that they saw in the SAME place I did the figure, ghost or whatever you want to call it. I was there in teh day time and my photo outline is in gray. They were there at night but imagine the chills I had when I they found something in the EXACT same place as me. Later I found out that the little girls had drowned and most likely it was one of them.

That is a cool story!

I'm so mad that we spent several days in the area and never visited the lighthouse. Since then I've heard tons about it.

Brian Harnois explained how he was asked to leave the cast because they weren't Ghost hunting, they were rating hunting. He joined GHI which has no affiliation with taps which many people think they do along with Andy and Donna. They focus more on the paranormal which the show has lost track of since it's way over produced. These people were in it for the research, not the money like it has come to. There have been many other experiences where Jason and Grant are arrogant when you meet them and other stories which make it seem that Jay and Grant have HUGE egos. I've read this on numerous sites, i've also read different stories too which favor them. But Kris just didn't seem right from the beggining, and I tend to believe that story more than others.

HAHAHA.. sorry I had to laugh at this.

1) Kris has been a friend of the TAPS team for quite awhile before she was asked to join in on the investigations. Considering the numbers they had recently lost (Donna, Brian, Andy, and Dustin) for a variety of reasons, it should be expected that they would have to bring someone in. Plus, really, does it matter what her occupation is? An actress can have just as much investigation skill and just as much curiousity into the paranormal as anyone.

2) You don't see as many house investigations for a multiple of reasons. First, remember they do more investigations then we will ever see on TV and I would bet that many people don't want the whole crew in their homes AND don't want to known as the crazy "haunted" people when the show airs. Second, as the TAPS name has grown, they are being allowed to investigate places with big names and getting new oppertunities. Wright-Patterson anyone?

3) How can GHI have no affiliation with TAPS when it was Jason and Grant who helped put the team together led by a TAPS family member? Also, if it wasn't TAPS why would information on their trips and investigations be on the official web site?

4) I don't care why Brian left, I'm just happy he did. He was dead weight on more then one occasion (like whith his girlfriend situation) and only caused rifts within the TAPS family.

5) Everything I have ever seen on Jason and Grant show them to be great guys with great personalities. They can be very protective of their work, reputation, the team, and their investigations. This I guess can be seen as arrogant but really it's their life long passion.

6) As another poster mentioned, there are groups out there who don't like TAPS due to the light TAPS has shed on the amount of faked evidence out there. Some groups, who may have had people fooled before, are now finding that people are looking closer at their evidence then they would like. This has caused some to just flat out fail, though there are those that seem to just keep bringing us photoshopped evidence.

Yes, I am a TAPS supporter, though I am not a TAPS family member. I do a bit of investigating of my own but nothing to the extent that TAPS does as I don't have the money to invest into the equipment. I spend quite a bit of my time on their boards with others, both believers and skeptics.
