Getting my tattoo tomorrow...(UPDATE W/ PIC post 70)

I have three. My first is the Mickey Fantasia scene on my right shoulder/back. The tiny stars hurt the most, but not unbearable. My second was the immature japanese symbol on my neck, didn't hurt at all. My third is my daughters middle name in japanese in blue on my right top arm, didn't hurt much. My next one will be a monkey symbol (for my son, his nickname) but I haven't figured out placement. I don't consider them low class at all, I know many wealthy people (myself not included lol) that have them. I consider them wearable artwork :). Good luck, Tink is a cute one.

Tattoos look make people look low class, you should reconsider.

Rude comments make people sound low class, you should reconsider.

Thank you! That was very helpful. I actually kinda got excited to watch but then I realized I wouldn't be able to see since it's on my back. HAHA.

I have reconsidered. Several times. Like I said, I have wanted a tatoo for a loooong time and have wanted this particular one for maybe 4-5 years. I have thought about it long and hard. I am getting it on my shoulder so that I can hide it when I need to and show it off when I want to. My mom does not like tattoos. My dad has one, which he hid from both my mom's family and his family for a good year before he "accidently" left it uncovered one day. They both know I want one and know that I have thought about it a lot. My mom's "rules" for me getting one were:
1. I had to be 18
2. I had to think about it long and hard and KNOW that I really wanted it
3. It had to be in a place that I could cover if I had to
I don't think tattoos make anybody "low class". I think if it is something that you really want and has meaning to you, they are awesome. I think it is the people judging that are "low class". Judge all you want, but the fact that I am doing something that means a lot to me makes me anything but "low class".

I have the same rules for my kids, except the part about being able to cover it. DD21 still doesn't have any, DD13 has no interest right now and neither does DD10, except to ask if it hurt when I got mine done. :)

Why do you want a tattoo

OP gave her reasons in her OP.

Don't do it, it's stupid and you will regret it. :3dglasses

How do you know she will regret it? I have 1 and 2 others in the planning stages, I don't regret it at all. You might regret one you have but not all of us do. :)

:rotfl: That was good.

Yes, it was good. :)

OP I got my first tat at 31, my tattoo artist had me pick a movie to watch (I chose Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade which was just about long enough) while I was getting inked, she had me pick a second movie just in case because my art was going to take at least 2 hours, the movie credits were running as she finished up. :) She also told me not to take any pain relievers as they are blood thinners and it does make you bleed more, she said she wouldn't finish it if I bled too much, instead she gives suckers out. If I remember right she said the pain makes your endorphines kick in and the sugar in the suckers help produce more endorphines so it helps mask the pain. I really don't know if that's right but it seemed to have worked for me. I have a VERY low pain tolerance, my tat took at least 2 hours and it's what is commonly referred to as a "tramp stamp", it's in the middle of my lower back and goes to the sides, it's a tribal butterfly and it's pretty big. I must have had 6 suckers, maybe more. LOL The only place it really "hurt" was right on the edges of my spine, otherwise it tickled or "zinged" in places but didn't hurt much at all. My next one my DD21 is helping me design, it's a Tink with my girls' intials and flowers and vines, it will be on my right ankle, the other one I want to tie in with my back tat, it will go up my ribs and onto my shoulder. At least that's the plan, but I haven't decided just yet. :) Lately I've been thinking that I want shooting stars behind my ear or on my foot but......LOL I tend to think these things out too, I want to make sure it's something I want forever. :)

BTW, I thought about my first one for about 5 years before I finally did it, I've been thinking of the others I want for about the same amount of time. :)

Okay...I am a 'non tattoo' person...but that is just for me! It's not my thing...

But I would NEVER judge someone by a tatoo, or say anything about one (unless it was to compliment on the nice artistry :goodvibes)

Just b/c you personally don't like tattoos (and I mean YOU in general)...don't bash someone b/c they want to get one. My cousin has a beautiful leopard on her back, and it is only seen when she is wearing a bathing suit in public, or a strapless dress. She's a cop, so I'd love to see someone call her 'low class' b/c of it...

And OP...I would love to see a pic of the tatoo!

I don't have a tattoo or a desire to get one but that is a personal choice. I'm thankful my girls have never asked to get one but you never know. I think when your young a tattoo looks good. As you age it just does not look the same. Looking at someone twenty and someone sixty I get two different images.

My religion frowns upon tattoos, so I never really thought about getting one.

But I do get the henna ones when at disney! They are really nice and I love the tribal designs.

Speaking of Tramp Stamps (as a PP did) - I think that was one of the funniest episodes of How I Met Your Mother!

You say that you have wanted this tattoo for 4-5 years... (Tinkerbell sitting on a word "SASSY")--- in memory of your cat that died a year ago??

How could have wanted this for that long if your cat only died a year ago? I just think you should REALLY reconsider--- I think you could really regret this particular tat one day.... I don't have a tattoo---but I also think tattoos can be really cool. Please don't think I'm judging... I went through a whole piercing phase in college ..I had my tongue, nose, belly button etc...pierced. I look back and think ---"wow--I'm such a different person now!" I don't regret that I did it back then, but then again...the holes grew in and no one knows that I had done that. I'd hate for you 10 years from now go, "Why did I get my dead cat's name on my back?" .... Just a thought....

I wish I wasn't such a chicken. I'd like to be low class as well. I want to be that crazy lady at the nursing home in a few years, where they yell out, hey, can someone take care of the ankle rose in room 2b? LOL.

:lmao: Get one!!!

I thought she meant she'd wanted a Tink tattoo for a while and decided to dedicate it to Sassy.

Some people are really close to their pets and treat them like family. Seems like that's the case with the OP, and I don't think in ten years her pet will be "my dead cat." I have a memorial tattoo, and in ten years mine won't be "my dead aunt."

um--- wow--- I would never compare a memorial to a human to that of an animal... And, yes, I'm an animal lover and have a dog that was my first "baby"....

My point is that I don't think one would regret a memorial to a human--but they might regret a tattoo in memory to an animal... Especially doing something like this at such a young age...

me, me, i'm in the low class too. I have 3 right now and my boyfriend own's a tattoo shop. My next tattoo, a bad girl tink is drawn up, and sitting on the counter, hopefully this weekend she will be on my stomach.

I'm just saying some people think of their pets the way most think of their human family members. I don't understand it, but I know it happens.

I'm not an animal person, so I wouldn't do it, but maybe the OP is. I just thought the "my dead cat" comment was a little harsh, especially if she was very close to Sassy.

I love Henna tattoos, I do them on myself. :) On my hands, feet and legs. That's why I want my ankle tat on my right ankle, so I can still draw on myself on the left side. :P:

I've been reading this thread. Put me down as low class too.
I have two and am planning my next one.
Both on ankles/feet.
My first one I planned for 10 years before getting the nerve to do it, ON VACATION in Hawaii at Hart and Huntington.
My second one was last year and is on the opposite foot and ankle. Hurt MUCH more than the other ankle one did (this one is MUCH bigger and MUCH more colorful).
I don't regret either one and can't wait to get my next one.:cool1:

Hey I'm jumping in and bringing some low 'English' class!!!

I have 4 I had my first at 15 and luckily I still love it 13 years later! I do regret one of mine but its never on show (its kinda on my ribs and that hurt on the bone!!) I think tattoo's are a great way to be individual and some are works of art!

My only advice is to be 101% sure I had doubts with my 2nd one (the one I regret) and should have listened but didn't so my own fault! But my 3rd & 4th I love! But you have clearly thought about this for quite a while and its personal to you which I think is sweet, so enjoy it!!!

Regarding the pain, its like an annoying scratch! Just keep it clean for the first few days and don't scratch/pick it!

Oh and one last thought, once you have one you'll want another so start thinking of number 2!!!!! (I want another one just not too sure where or what I want!!!)

OP - How did it go, wanna see a pic!!!

I'm officially low-class!!!!! I just finished and it so was not as bad as i thought. Toward the end it hurt a bit from all the wiping and all that but not too bad. It's a totally different design than what i originally wanted but i love this one so much more! I'll post a pic tomorrow wgen i'm on my computer (i'm on my phone now so sorry for any typos or whatever). And i'll explain the whole sassy thing a bit further since that seems to be an area of discussion

Hey I'm jumping in and bringing some low 'English' class!!!

Wait, I thought the accent automatically made all English people high-class! ;) j/k. I love my English friends....they could be talking about the single most disgusting thing in the known universe and somehow make it sound...poetic. :goodvibes

Congrats!! So are you still on the endorphin high or what? As I remember, it took at least a few hours to wear off for me the last time.

Enjoy it, and be sure to put on whatever stuff they gave you to put on it during aftercare. I know they used to have us put bacitracin on, but the last time I went they gave me a little can of foamy type stuff that hurt a lot less to put on (because the skin absorbed it more readily, so not much rubbing was involved).
