Getting Married and Celebrating with a Disneymoon! October 2012 PTR~Update 5/17 pg 14

Thank you!!

I have to make the decision what I would like to be closest to...DTD, the main pool or the buses...do you know the order that the buses go in besides Grandstand being first?

Thank you, we're so excited!

How long does it take to get around the whole resort? That's the only thing that worries be about being the first bus stop on the bus even though being first off is great. That's so terrible that maintenance wouldn't come fix your fridge! Not what you'd expect at WDW :sad2:

I'd be THRILLED if we could get BWV or BCV but I'm trying reeeeeally hard not to get my hopes up! haha

That's a good point. I would say it takes about 15 -20 min to do all the stops, depending on how many ECV's get loaded at each stop. That can be a very time consuming process.

First off at the end of the day is great, but you usually go through OKW before coming to SSR.

SSR really is a nice resort. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I think people complain about the dining because there isn't a whole lot to choose from. There's the Artist Palette, which is the quick service place (also where the store is) and then the Turf Club which is the sit-down place. We've never eaten there but I would like to.

As for the buses...I mentioned the route on my TR (so what Anita said is correct :)). Are you more concerned about the buses being too full if you are one of the last stops or it taking too long to get through all the stops? In all honesty we have never had an issue with the buses. Yes, Congress Park is the 4th stop but it's never been all that crowded (or maybe we just leave super early, LOL!). I'd say the whole loop through the resort takes about 10 minutes. I hope I'm helping atleast a little!

I like the idea of staying at the resort for a night and eating at the Turf Club and I know we'll definitely eat at the Artist Palette at some point, too. Are they both located in the Carriage House?

Ok so CP is towards the end...I'm thinking that might be our best bet then. I'm not worried about the buses being too full and we don't mind standing anyway. I care more about getting a seat on the way back from the park but on the way there it's not an issue. You're helping sosososooooo much and I'm sure I'll have more questions so thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I agree to the 10 min loop as well!:goodvibes
The best thing about the first stop is getting a seat.

Having a car at SSR is awesome! You will be able to park right at your door!

Going to keep my fingers crossed for you though. I know you will love being at an Epcot resort!

Thank you sosososoooo much for all your help!! It means so much to me. I'm thinking we may request Congress Park...but I'm sure that will change another 5 times before next October

We've never rented a car in WDW before...what company do you usually go with? I would DIE to stay at BCV and almost DIE to stay at BWV...I hope it comes through!

Yay, that's amazing that you are going to be staying in a DVC resort for your Disneymoon, and for SOOOO cheap!  I hope you can get into the Boardwalk or Beach Club (I stayed in the Beach Club for my Disneymoon, and it was amazing!! I love that resort!) but if not, I think SSR will be great too! I'd love to try SSR someday! I'm so jealous you are friends with DVC owners! :rotfl:

Your engagement party looked like so much fun, the cakes were so cute! :cool1:

I can't believe my friend is renting us the points for so cheap, she's crazy :rotfl: I hope we can get into BCV, that would really be a dream. SSR will also be great though and I'll be thrilled to stay there!

Our party was a lot of fun, thank you!

Boardwalk or Beach Club are my two votes -- after all, it is your honeymoon! :goodvibes

Love, love, love all the pics from your engagement party! The cakes were amazing and so perfect for you and Chris!!!

I agree, Jackie! I hope either one is available!

Thank you! The cakes tasted as good as they looked :thumbsup2

Well, well, well, look what I stumbled upon.... :surfweb:

Your plans sound great!!!! I read the intro, I'm sure there have been changes since you first posted on October 30th! LOL

EDIT: Yup I was right! I knew there would be a change already! What a good DISer you are! LOL Congrats on the DVC points! I hope you are able to get the resort you want... :)

I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip! :goodvibes

TIM! Long time no "see"! Congrats on the birth of your baby boy! :goodvibes

Yes there have already been changes lol Thank you! I hope we're able to get into BCV!

Glad you found us over here!

Hello there tink!

I couldn't help but comment on this post, specifically the 'Chris will be 27..OLD FART!!' part.... If you think 27 is old wait till you hit 33! HAHAHA ;)

:rotfl: since Tink and I are only 24, we like to call Chris old...but he's not and neither are you!

TIW is a good deal. I like not getting locked into dessert if I don't want it or not feeling bad if I don't order the most expensive thing off the menu if I was on the dining plan. Getting 20% off drinks is good too! ;) :lmao:

I'm excited to try TiW, I think it will work out better for us than the DDP would. 20% off the booze is going to be great  And you're right, I always felt like I needed to get the most expensive entree to get my moneys worth on the DDP so I'll be excited to not have to worry about that!

That's a good point. I would say it takes about 15 -20 min to do all the stops, depending on how many ECV's get loaded at each stop. That can be a very time consuming process.

Yea, the ECV's take forever...that's something to make sure I take into consideration!

We stayed at OKW in June and there were never SSR people on our bus...I wonder if they do that more at the peak times? :confused3 We were there before peak season started.

We have rented from Alamo. Just go to priceline and see what you can get in the way of a good deal.
That's my best advice.
I also have read that the insurance they offer for the most part is a rip-off. The verdict is out on taking it for us...
Any car renters out there care to chime in on this one?
I know that your credit card usually offers some sort of insurance for rental cars. Marc however is really worried about getting socked with the cost of damages IF something should happen....

This is what I do...

1)I go on costco.com and get the best codes for a rental car.. usually Alamo is the cheapest.
2) Go on Alamo.com and use my codes and reserve a car- just in case I cannot get a car through priceline.
3) About 1 1/2 months before my rental, I use priceline to start biding on a car. I've gotten full size for $16 a day, SUVs for $18. I have usually found that the cheapest price is accepted about 2 weeks out.
4) Once my bid is accepted, cancel the alamo reservation.

I agree that credit cards do offer some insurance on your rental. Your personal car insurance might offer some coverage as well. I would read the fine print on the CC and call your agent and find out what is/is not covered. With that being said, I have never added the extra insurance at the kiosk or desk while picking up the rental. :goodvibes

Hi! I'm fairly new around here...just joining in on following your wedding plans. :)

Thanks you for your post! That makes so much sense!
I had never thought of reserving the car and then trying for the bid on priceline that close to the trip!:thumbsup2

Hi Tim!! Hope all is well with you! I agree with what Kristen said. You're not old! We just like to give Chris a hard time since he's the oldest out of us 4.

It probably varies. Our State Farm agent told us not to pay for the extra insurance, as they will cover us. He also told us to rent from Enterprise because they work best with State Farm if anything happens. That being said, we've still rented from Budget - loved them at MCO:thumbsup2

I would call your insurance agent - you might even be able to put a rider on just for the month you travel that would be cheaper than paying for the rental car insurance and not even knowing for sure what it will cover.

That sounds like a good idea, trying Priceline. Chris and I went to visit tinkgurl over the summer and rented a car from Enterprise and we didn't take out any extra insurance, we just assumed our regular car insurance covered it. I think we'll call Geico before we rent this time though and see what they say! I was definitely worried about what would happen God forbid something happened to the car, too. We had to rent in Chris' name over the summer because I'm only 24 and under 25 yrs old has to pay the young driver fee. By the time we're on our honeymoon I'll be 25 though...idk if I'm excited about that or not  Thanks for all your help Anita!!!

Do you have to have a costco membership to get their codes, Tim? That sounds like an awesome idea. I know that you can cancel the rental car reservation so this sounds like an awesome idea. Thanks!!! I really appreciate the help :)

As for insurance, I think we're going to call up Geico and see what they tell us. Like I mention to Anita, we rented over the summer and didn't take out any extra insurance...but the last thing I want on our honeymoon is rental car damage ruining our trip!

Welcome, thanks for joining in! I see you're getting married just a few weeks after us, congratulations!! :woohoo:

It sounds like calling our insurance company will be the best idea to see if we need more insurance. I didn't even think about adding a rider just for the month...I've heard the rental car companies charge an arm and a leg for the extra insurance so that might be a cheaper idea!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP WITH SSR INFO AND RENTAL CAR INFO! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!! :goodvibes I hope to be back here later today/tonight with an update!

Happy Wednesday everyone! The week is more than half way done! Today is actually my brother's 22nd birthday...I don't feel weird being 24 but I feel so weird the older he gets! He's supposed to be the baby! Today is also one more month of student teaching mark for me! My classes end on December 7th but I have to student teach until the 16th. There are no words to describe how ESTACTIC, THRILLED, HAPPY, ELATED, OVERJOYED (you get the hint) I am at the thought of being DONE with school. I will have my Master's degree and eventually will go back for more schooling but not for many years lol :yay:

Anyway, I told you all that last week Chris and I went to go register on our day off together which went well. We went to Target first and their registry system was down :confused3 So we went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and spent over two hours in there...and didn't even finish! I didn't know this was going to take so long! It was fun though and we picked out a lot of nice stuff, most of which we'd never buy for ourselves. I also ordered our Save the Date cards last Friday! I love them and can't wait to get them. When they come in I'll take a picture and post it. We used one of the pictures from our Poly engagement shoot.

As for the Disneymoon, I've been talking with a of my wonderful readers/friends as to what section of SSR to request. I'm fairly sure we're going to request the Congress Park section! I know it's not a guarantee but we've lucked out so far with requests. I want to be fairly close to the Carriage House. I would have requested The Springs but I like the Congress Park is the second to last stop on the buses. When we stayed at OKW in June, we were closest to the stop at the Hospitality House (main building) and we loved that after we got picked up, we went straight to the parks. We were the last stop off the bus on the way home from the parks though...so we just got off at another stop and walked. Anita and Sarah say the bus loop at SSR is only about 10 mins though, so I think we'll be ok. I'm so excited!!!! :yay:

Well, since this thread is all about our wedding and Disneymoon, I'll tell you a little story of how Chris and I got engaged since I told you how we met. We decided to take a trip to Philadelphia for our 4 year dating anniversary back in April. We had plans to just check out some sites the first day and then go to a Rangers v. Flyers game the next day (which the Rangers won, btw.) So we drove the 3 hours or so to Philly and headed towards the National Constitution Center. I'm going to school to be a history teacher and Chris just loves history so this was interesting stuff to us lol After the NCC we headed towards the Liberty Bell. Unfortunately, it was closed so we just started walking some more. Eventually, we got to this nice area behind Independence Hall (also closed!). I wanted to keep walking and Chris said "Babe, wait." I turned around because I had no idea why he would wanna stop there and I saw the box in his hand. He opened it up and said "Do you want me to get down on one knee?" :rotfl: Of course I did! So he got down and asked me to marry him! When I said yes he told me to take the ring :lmao: I said "No you have to put it on me!!" He did and that was that! Apparently he wanted to propose at the Liberty Bell (I love history so this was perfect for me!) but the area was closed. He was bummed about that! I was so happy I couldn't sit still and was shaking like crazy. We sat on a bench and called home and texted some friends and, of course, changed our facebook relationship statuses to "Engaged"  Here's my beautiful ring, EXACTLY what I'd wanted...

There you have it! We have a few things picked out for the wedding already. For one, we have our cake topper that I'm sooooo in love with!

Then we have these napkins which we'll use for cocktail hour, website courtesy of tinkgurl

I bought my dress as I've told you all but I don't want to post it! However, I did also buy shoes

I have a tiara too, just no picture of it. The place we are having our reception is amazing. We love it more and more each time we go there. I'd never been there and we went to a bridal showcase there...we left that night and I just knew that's where we'd be celebrating. Chris loved it so much too. We only checked out one other place but it didn't compare! Here are some pictures of the place. Our wedding will be at night even though most of these pictures I found are taken during the day!

No picture of it but I also love the bridal suite here. We even have our own bathroom in it!

I hope you like the place as much as we do :goodvibes I love being able to give you guys a little view inside a place we love so much. Enjoy the rest of the week everyone, and the weekend too!

I'm a dumb dumb and am really struggling with how to post chapter links for JUST the individual new post. Can someone help?! I know how to post a link, just not for the individual post. :confused3

Your engagement story is so sweet! I love that he asked you if you wanted him to get down on one knee! :rotfl: And I love all of the pics you have so far - your ring is stunning, the shoes are great, and the napkins are so cute! Your reception hall is gorgeous. Amazing plans so far!

To get the link for an individual post, go to that post and look in the upper right hand corner, there should be a number there. Click on the number and it will open the post in a new tab or window and then you can just copy and paste that link :thumbsup2

Love the engagement story. What a special place for y'all to be engaged, even if it wasn't the Liberty Bell, it was still special.

The venue is gorgeous, but I must say I LOVE THE SHOES!!!! :thumbsup2

YAY for deciding on requesting Congress Park! :thumbsup2 It is a great location and it's nice being one of the last stops on the bus loop. I THOUGHT you stayed at OKW and I almost brought that up about comparing that bus loop to the one at SSR. So, you might have to wait a little longer being dropped off but I'd rather do that than make all the stops going to a park! Another nice thing about Congress Park is there is a quiet pool right there too which is less crowded than the main pool.

The place where you're having your reception does look beautiful. Wow!

Thank you! It would probably sound silly to some people but to us it was special.

Thank you!! I love the sparkly shoes :goodvibes

I would have never decided if it weren't for your and Anita's help, so thanks!!! OKW bus loop seemed to take forever but I feel like it won't be as bad at SSR because we'll be coming home from the parks, not all amped and excited when we're going to the parks and in a rush! We'll probably try out both pools too. How long would you say the walk from CP to the Artist's Palette is?

Thank you!! :)

Oh I love your engagement story! That's so sweet that he really wanted to propose at the Liberty Bell :goodvibes

The venue your reception is going to be at is GORGEOUS! Also, I love the shoes :)

aw i love the engagement story!! and those shoes are amazing! I have definitely been to your venue before!! It is so beautiful there, my boyfriends cousin had her sweet 16 there last year(it was as big as a wedding!) and it was so nice. I can only imagine how nice it will be for your wedding!! I love the outside for pictures too. Great choice!

Yay on requesting a section at SSR, sounds like you picked a good one! :cool1:

Your engagement story is so cute! :lovestruc LOL, I told Brandon before we got engaged that I didn't want him to get down on one knee, so he just sat next to me instead! I'm weird, I wanted our engagement to be as engagement-like as possible! :rotfl:

I love all the Disney touches you are going to have at your wedding, and the location is beautiful!

Oh, I rent a car on every Disney trip, and we never get the insurance. We did once, when the agent badgered me so much that I finally was just like "FINE I'll take it!" After that, we called our insurance company to see if rentals were covered, and they are, and the credit card I use covers rentals too, so I feel pretty safe that we have some kind of coverage! When they start bothering us we're just like "no...no...no"...eventually they shut up and just give us the rental agreement! And we always use Alamo, I like that you can pick your car. If you don't have a Costco membership, you can join Alamo Insiders, it's free, and their discounts are almost as good as Costco, and you get an additional driver for free! :thumbsup2

It was nice reading about your engagement story. :cutie:

And that reception place for your wedding looks GORGEOUS!!! I especially love the fountain, so pretty! :cloud9:

The Wedding Venue and Grounds are Amazing you are going to have Gorgeous pictures! I love the shoes can't wait to see it all together :goodvibes
