Getting Married and Celebrating with a Disneymoon! October 2012 PTR~Update 5/17 pg 14

Beautiful pics! I like the TIW idea, too! I wonder if the photo shoot is the same price for a group, or is the price based on how many people they're shooting? I'd love to do some family photos when we're there with our kids and grandkids!

Thank you!

Doesn't TiW sound great?!

It doesn't matter how many people, however, the shoot we had was only 20 mins long. In reality maybe it was 30 mins. So, you may want to think about doing a longer shoot, especially with grandkids. Of course that means more money lol but the 20 min shoot is $150, no matter how many people!

Yay, I hope it works out and you can rent points! POR is beautiful, and I think you would really enjoy your Disneymoon there, but if you can go deluxe, why not?

You can get discounts on alcohol with the TiW card?? :scared1: Now I really might have to buy one...I'm still not sure how it works, but now I'm even more interested to find out! :)

Beautiful photographs, you are such a photogenic couple!

You can't go wrong with a DVC stay. We've stayed at Old Key West, Kidani, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Saratoga Springs, Villas at Wilderness Lodge and Bay Lake. The only place on property we haven't tried yet is Jambo and we have it planned for the end of June. They each have something wonderful about them!

I hope so, too! You're exactly right, POR is wonderful but you can't beat staying deluxe!

Yesssss, TiW even gets you discounts on alcohol! You should invest! haha it's good for a year just like an AP and I believe it's $75 for one card but it's good for up to 5 or 6 people so you and your hubby would only need one. For Chris and I, it will pay itself off in a matter of meals! And drinks lol For us, it's definitely going to work better than the dining plan. We're appetizer people, not dessert people!

I can't wait until we own DVC ourselves so we can check out all the DVC resorts. So far we've only stayed at Kidani and OKW but we loved them both. I don't want to give up what resort we're trying for quite yet but I will say it's one that you've tried before! Although, you may have written what I wrote on Melissa's TR and gotten a hint of our first choice :rolleyes1

A DVC stay is sounding very nice! I hope that all works out. :goodvibes

Yes, yes it sure is! I hope it works out, too. Renting points is amazing for us poor folk (Chris and I, lol) who can't afford to buy DVC ourselves!

I'm so happy everyone has joined it for this journey to my wedding day! :grouphug: Can you all believe it's already November?! Where does the time go??? :confused3 Soon, it will be Thanksgiving with Christmas right around the corner...I have a busy November coming up...this weekend is my cousin's baby shower. November 16th is my brother's 22nd birthday and then, November 20th is a different cousin's baby shower and a different different cousin's going away party lol She's moving to South Carolina with her boyfriend! The 22nd is Chris' 27th birthday (old man) with Thanksgiving just two days behind that. That mixed with student teaching, school and work...I'm exhausted just thinking about it all! :faint:

Anyway, let me give a little update here. As you all know, our current plan was to stay at POR for this trip. I was originally hoping for free dining, which seemed like a good bet if Disney released the same discounts next year as they did for this year. Well, I began thinking more and realized that with our APs we can get the Tables in Wonderland card for 20% off meals and alcohol...the more I thought about it, the more I realized NOT doing the dining plan and just taking advantage of a great AP room only rate would probably be a better idea! We'd get the discount on the food and wouldn't be restricted to what the dining plan says we have to get (like the desserts we never eat half the time!) Of course, like any good DISer, my wheels kept turning now. If we didn't need to rely on free dining, I started to wonder how many DVC points we would need to stay deluxe this trip...I have a good friend who has been asking us if we wanted to rent from her. At first we figured no...but yesterday at work I ran some numbers and realized that at the price she'll rent them to us for, we can stay at almost ALL of the DVC resorts for cheaper or just slightly more than we'd pay at POR :yay::cheer2::woohoo: I quickly emailed my friend...it looks like this will be a great possiblity for us!! I'm not going to say exactly what we're hoping for right now because I want to finish talking it over with my friend...we're meeting for dinner with her and her daughter next week! So, my dear DIS friends, I'm going to keep you in suspense until then...:ssst:

I had a few requests to post more of my engagement pictures from the Poly...if you're friends with me on FB or had started reading the now defunct June 2011 TR, you may have seen these already. But, for anyone interested, here's some more of our engagement pictures from a private shoot we did in June.

We did out shoot at 8:30am and got about 60 shots taken. We received them all on a disc with all the rights to them by 5:00 that night. At the time, the cost of the shoot was $100 but I've since heard that they increased it to $150. Still, I think it was worth it unless you know a good photographer who can give you a better deal near you, which we don't. We were happy with so many of the shots. The only thing I found lacking a little in the photographer we have was some of the poses he had use do were super awkward looking or feeling. I may be wrong on this but I don't believe that Disney photographers are professionally trained...again, I'm not sure that's a fact but it's my belief. So, I think that's why some of the posing wasn't perfect. I didn't post the awkward pics, btw lol

Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying their week! Stay tuned for more! :thumbsup2

Wow! That's exciting! I hope the DVC rental works out for you!! I'm with you could never pass up on DVC!! Especially since it's your DISNEYMOON :)

Yayy I'm glad you started your PJ/PTR!

A DVC stay sounds so nice! :goodvibes We rented points to stay at OKW last year and it is such a great deal!

Thank you!

Great! Thanks for the info!

Hello there! I was also a "Long Island bride," grew up there and just got married this past September, though I'm living in PA now. Looking forward to seeing your plans! We also stayed at POR for the honeymoon and loved it, it was beautiful, but I totally understand wanting to stay deluxe too ;) We never have and the honeymoon is the perfect opportunity!

Your engagement pictures are beautiful!

Yay for another Long Island bride! Welcome! :)

I quickly skimmed through your wedding PJ and I saw you had your rehearsal dinner at the Brickhouse...I love it there! We go a lot during the summer and actually just had dinner there like 2 weeks ago. Small world!

Thank you!!

Hey everyone! I hope you all have had a nice start to the week. I didn't have to student teach today because of some conference going on (which was good since there was a fight between two boys in my class yesterday that really rattled me!) but that just means I went in to work for extra hours lol We're all off Friday too for Veteran's Day, work included, so hooray for an entire day off!

I have a few little updates to share.

1) I won't keep anyone in suspense any longer with our potential DVC stay...it's all but 100% that we'll be staying DVC for our Disneymoon!! I'm soooooo incredibly excited!! Here's the quick story...friends of ours that own were willing to rent us the points where we'd have to book at BLT at 11 months out (where they own) and then switch. We'd get to stay our 11 nights like we planned but then I talked to Chris and he said he would want to stay an extra night. So, if we were able to switch at 7 months (we were hoping for the Boardwalk Villas!) then we'd be able to add the extra night because it's much less points to stay at BWV. About 3 days later I run into another friend...she basically begs me to use some of her 200 and something points because she's going on a long cruise next year and won't be able to go to WDW...she texts me later in the day and tells me she will book any DVC resort for me...for $1200...I nearly fell off my chair! 12 nights in a deluxe villa for $1200...so of course I'm going to go with her offer! She'll be booking us at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa at our 11 month date (I believe the Tuesday after Thanksgiving) and then at 7 months we're going to try and switch to the Boardwalk again. I'd rather stay at the Beach Club than the Boardwalk though, so I'll have to talk to her about that since 12 nights at SSR is less points than BCV so she might want more money. Either way, we're staying deluxe  :woohoo:

We'll either be here...

Not complaining about any of those!!

So, all you DVC owners out there, give me some advice! If we do end up staying at SSR, what can you tell us? What section should we request to stay in? Since it's a long trip I'm not going to get my hopes up on BWV and BCV, especially during F&W Festival time.

2) I've decided to put off looking for bridesmaids dresses until the new year. Right now it's getting too close to Christmas time and asking my girls to lay out $150-$200 isn't right! So we'll do that after January 1.

3) Chris and I are going to register at Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond either Friday or Saturday!!! I can't wait to do this! I'd rather go on Friday but my dad might need us to take a ride to Jersey with him Friday so it all depends on that.

Continued in the next post...

I think that's all my wedding/honeymoon related updates for now. In the meantime, I'll post some pictures from our engagement party. We had it back in June at my Uncle's house, since he has a nice, big backyard with a nice pool. Here we go!

We had a brides cake and a grooms cake...Mine

Chris' other brother wasn't able to make it because his friends bachelor party was that night in Atlantic City and he'd already paid his portion for the room, limo, etc. before we'd picked a date for the party.

I had like two more but photobucket is going wild right now and I want to get this posted before I lose it! lol One was of my maid of honor, Danielle so I'll have to post that later! Also, tinkgurl is one of my bridesmaids but being that she lives 1,000 miles away (boooooo) she wasn't able to make it to the party. That's all for now, enjoy the rest of the week everyone!

I am all caught up and love what you have put together! Your engagement photos are great, and love the cakes from your engagement party! Can't wait to hear more :)

Woo hoo for DVC!!!I think you'll love all three resorts! We stayed at SSR for a week in 09 and it's lovely, HUGE, but lovely. I've only stayed at BWV for 1 night last April but I loved it!!! My room, a studio, was right above Wyland Gallery and my balcony was HUGE!! I swear it was almost the same size as the room!! The kids and I, my sister and her kids are stay at BWV in February!!! I stayed at BCV after the night at BWV and it is fabulous! LOVE it!!! LOVE it!! The quiet pool outside the villas is like heaven on earth!!!!

Your engagement party looks like so much fun!! Those cake are fantastic! You may need to give the name of who made them!!!

Pictures from the party are great.

But really what I wanted to comment on is your resort. I can't believe you get the chance to book a DVC deluxe villa for 1200$ for 12 nights! That's 100$ a night!!!!!!!!!!! About the same price we paid for POP!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if for some reason you can't get Boardwalk or Beach Club, it's still AMAZING!!! So jealous! Oh how I wish I had friends who own DVC... Here's me being excited for you. :cool1:

Ahh girl! This update got me excited for our big year!! :goodvibes

I knew this but...I'm so excited for where you're staying. I haven't stayed at SSR yet, but we've been there to eat and explore, and it looks like a nice resort! I'm so happy for you both!

Aw..I loved looking through the engagement party pictures. We really wish we could've been there! Wish those 1,000 miles between us didn't exist!
