Getting Married and Celebrating with a Disneymoon! October 2012 PTR~Update 5/17 pg 14

Oh I love your engagement story! That's so sweet that he really wanted to propose at the Liberty Bell :goodvibes

The venue your reception is going to be at is GORGEOUS! Also, I love the shoes :)

Thank you!! It was sweet :cutie:

Thank you and thank you! Sparkly, huh? lol

aw i love the engagement story!! and those shoes are amazing! I have definitely been to your venue before!! It is so beautiful there, my boyfriends cousin had her sweet 16 there last year(it was as big as a wedding!) and it was so nice. I can only imagine how nice it will be for your wedding!! I love the outside for pictures too. Great choice!

Thanks! I'm glad you liked our venue! I like that it's one event at a time only there. Plus it's beautiful lol thanks!!

Yay on requesting a section at SSR, sounds like you picked a good one! :cool1:

Your engagement story is so cute! :lovestruc LOL, I told Brandon before we got engaged that I didn't want him to get down on one knee, so he just sat next to me instead! I'm weird, I wanted our engagement to be as engagement-like as possible! :rotfl:

I love all the Disney touches you are going to have at your wedding, and the location is beautiful!

Oh, I rent a car on every Disney trip, and we never get the insurance. We did once, when the agent badgered me so much that I finally was just like "FINE I'll take it!" After that, we called our insurance company to see if rentals were covered, and they are, and the credit card I use covers rentals too, so I feel pretty safe that we have some kind of coverage! When they start bothering us we're just like "no...no...no"...eventually they shut up and just give us the rental agreement! And we always use Alamo, I like that you can pick your car. If you don't have a Costco membership, you can join Alamo Insiders, it's free, and their discounts are almost as good as Costco, and you get an additional driver for free! :thumbsup2

Thank you! That's funny that you didn't want Brandon to get down on one knee lol I think Chris just thought I was gonna take the box, put the ring on myself and we'd be on our way

Thank you! And thank you for the rental car advice. I'm compiling this all so I'm prepared when I book one lol I'm a "no, no, no" person but I start to get annoyed after they continue being super pushy. I like the Alamo Insiders thing of getting a free 2nd driver...I drove our rental car once when we were in Chicago and I was PETRIFIED the whole time that I'd get in a fender bender and we'd really be screwed because Chris was supposed to be the only driver!

It was nice reading about your engagement story. :cutie:

And that reception place for your wedding looks GORGEOUS!!! I especially love the fountain, so pretty! :cloud9:

Thank you, thank you and thank you! :)

The Wedding Venue and Grounds are Amazing you are going to have Gorgeous pictures! I love the shoes can't wait to see it all together :goodvibes

Thanks Colleen! :goodvibes

:mickeyjum HAPPY THANSKGIVING EVERYONE!! :mickeyjum

I have so much to be thankful for, today and everyday. Today makes me realize I need to give thanks more for all that I have! I want all my DIS friends to know how thankful I am for all of you. The friendships I've formed over the last 3 years on this board were definitely unexpected but definitely needed and cherished! I hope you all enjoy this day with your family and friends :grouphug:

**This is exactly what I wrote on my other PTR...just didn't want anyone to think I was trying to pull a fast one on them haha

joining here too!

Kristen, DH and I were married on Oct. 29 (in 2004) and took off the following day for Disney. We got the same speeches you got about making it different. We also did MNSSHP on Halloween and it was AWESOME! We did some trick or treating, but we took huge advantage of all the trick or treating and got in some great time on the rides. DH and I were the ONLY ones on Splash Mountain. I don't mean only ones on our log...we were the only guests there...every boat in front of us for as far as we could see....and behind us, were empty. It was pretty cool. The parade was fantastic too.

We also got tickets to Cirque du Soleil and hung out at DQ (I got sick and we had to leave :( ).

Make sure you eat at some places you haven't tried yet...maybe some fancy ones! I remember you writing that Chris was really into cars...have you looked into the Richard Petty driving experience? I almost bought DH that opportunity as a wedding gift but we ended up doing other things.

It will be magical and different because it's your honeymoon! I LOVE your engagement cake! I noticed those Mickeys right away ;)

Hello everyone, 28 days until Christmas!! :santa: I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving with your loved ones…now the countdown to Christmas begins! This is by far my favorite time of the year and just puts me in a good mood! That coupled with the fact that I only have 3 weeks left of school and well, you all have yourselves one happy PTR writer ;)

This was the first year since I turned 18 that I wasn’t able to go Black Friday shopping :( Normally I go with my cousins, aunt and mom…people think we’re crazy but it’s honestly more about the tradition and spending time with them than the shopping! I usually don’t even buy much. Anyway, this year I had to work and there was no way around it. Plus, I need to work if I want money to pay for gifts this year haha I did a little bit of shopping online though. How about you all, did you go shopping on Black Friday?

I have a couple small updates for you all! First off, Tuesday is our 11 month mark and you all know what that means…we’re able to book our honeymoon! I just emailed my friend who is renting us the DVC points all our info. I have to say, I’m just a little upset that I have to book the reservation under my maiden name still! I wanted to have my very first thing with my new, married name on it. But, all my I.D. is still going to have my maiden name on it so I figure I’m better off just still using it. So, my friend is going to call this week and book our reservation. Once it’s done I will feel so happy, like it’s more official! So YAYYY for that :)

I’m not sure if I mentioned it but the day Chris and I went to register, I also ordered our Save the Date cards online. We used the website magnetstreet.com and also ordered address labels to match the cards. Well, I received them on Tuesday and am sososososooooo pleased with them! We love them and they came out perfectly. Although many of you are my friends on Facebook and already know mine and Chris’ last names, my FB is private and this site is not so I blocked out our last names and the name of the town we’re getting married in. I don’t need any creepy internet freaks out there knowing our names or where we live! Lol It kinda takes away from the prettiness of the cards but you all get the gist!

That was our favorite picture from our Poly engagement shoot. :)

Lastly, I’d been listening to Disney music on my Pandora radio a lot lately and came up with an idea. We’re not using any Disney music during our church ceremony, nor is our wedding song going to be a Disney one (I’m fairly sure anyway). But I got the idea to have Disney love songs playing during dinner and dessert! You know how there’s always low music playing while everyone eats and I think this is going to be the perfect time to throw another little Disney touch in there. We’ll have them do this during cocktail hour too if we can come up with enough songs lol I told Chris the idea and he really likes it too so I’m very excited!

Well, that’s all for now. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!! Thanks for reading!

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you guys had an awesome day!

Thank Meghan! I hope yours was good as well.

joining here too!

Heyyyy!!! I'm so glad you're back and were able to find my PTR! That's so awesome that you were married the 29th! I think it's gonna be a great time of year for a wedding :) I'm so excited for the idea of not only doing MNSSHP but for doing it ON Halloween! Yay!

You got sick at DQ? I don't know if you remember my first TR from April 09 but so did I and we had to leave! I got soooo nauseous from one of the virtual reality rides.

I definitely plan on eating at some new places, including signature restaurants. I have heard of the RPDE but it's just so expensive. There's the cheapest ride along experience which is only $99 but the next package is like $499! Idk, maybe I will do it anyway but I'd rather do a private dinner or a fireworks cruise or something. I know Chris would love the RPDE though!

Thanks!!!

I think having Disney love songs playing during dinner is a lovely idea! And the Save the Dates look great!

I love this time of year too, it is my absolute favorite! I really like all that goes before Christmas, like playing Christmas music, watching Christmas movies, shopping for and wrapping gifts, and baking Christmas cookies!

I love your Save the Dates, they look great! I've heard of lots of people that played Disney love songs during dinner/dessert. In fact, on Amazon there is a CD, I think it's called Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, that has really pretty instrumental versions of lots of romantic Disney songs on it.

I'm so glad I came over to the wedding section, I realized I never subbed to this thread! :scared1: Yay for an update, I feel like I haven't seen you around the DIS much lately! :rotfl:

I love your Save the Date cards! The Pooh quote is beautiful! :lovestruc And playing Disney music during dinner sounds perfect! :thumbsup2

I love this time of year too, I LOVE Christmas! :santa: I can't wait to be in Disney in 13 days for all the Christmas fun!

Your venue and save the dates are beautiful!! I really love the faded 'Live, Laugh, Love' at the bottom of them. :)

I got sick on an Aladdin VR ride. Sososososososo sick actually. I had a mini panic attack because I couldn't get the helmet off. We went home too. I tried to stick it out and just rest on a bench so DH could play some more but it didn't work.

I didn't do the RPDE either because it was so expensive. I think you may both enjoy new signature restaurants. If you are able to spring for the RPDE, go fir it, but I agree, that's a LOT of money. You could have a few nice dinners together for that. The fireworks cruises seem awesome. We did a dessert party @ Epcot for my sisters wedding and it was so great! I imagine the cruises are even better because you are right there in the water.

Love, love, love your save the date card!!! So cute with the Winnie the pooh quote!

I sorry you missed Black Friday shopping with your family! That stinks!!

I kept my maiden name on everyone until right before DD was born! DH used to joke that I must have figured I couldn't go anywhere once she was born! Changing all that stuff is a p in the a!!!

Thank you and thank you! I think the music is just the type of Disney touch we're looking for. How are you feeling these days?!

Isn't it the best? We started Christmas shopping yesterday and I just love buying things for people that I think they'll love! I listen to Christmas music while I drive, pretty much from now until Christmas! haha

Thank you! I think I'll need to find that CD to get a list of songs!

I'm glad you were able to find me again! I wasn't around the DIS much for about a week...crazy life! :sad2:

Thank you, thank you and thank you!! :) You're so lucky that you'll be in WDW for Christmas fun so soon!

Okay, I am totally in love with your Save the Date card, and that quote from Winnie-the-Pooh is so perfect!!! :lovestruc

Thanks Jackie!! :goodvibes

Your venue and save the dates are beautiful!! I really love the faded 'Live, Laugh, Love' at the bottom of them. :)

Thank you! I actually have a 'Live, Laugh, Love' tattoo on my wrist so it's very fitting :)

Oh mannnn :guilty: I got sick on some VR attraction where you put on a heavy VR mask thing and have a "sword" to fight villians. I sat around for a while while Chris played some more games but eventually we left as well.

I hate that the RPDE is so much money. I know Chris would just love it. We'll see. You're right though, I'd rather do some nice dinners together than blow close to $500 on that. We got pixie dusted in December 09 and got a free Holiday Wishes cruise...someone must have cancelled and we were just in the right place at the right time. It was awesome!!

Love, love, love your save the date card!!! So cute with the Winnie the pooh quote!

Thanks Melissa!! I didn't get to BF shop but I did Cyber Monday shop! I did online at Toys R Us and then Chris and I went to the Riverhead Outlets last night. It was empty there!

I was talking to Chris last night about the maiden name thing and he wants us to get our marriage license early enough where I could have my new license with my married name on it by the trip. So we'll see. I'm going to PM you about your maiden name though...

I loooooooooooooooooooove your save the dates!!! cute cute cute!!! your pic is soooo good!! i love the quote on the back... fits perfectly!

We had the Disney Fairytale Wedding cd on while everyone was eating at our wedding !!!! That's why i wanted to comment and tell you that everyone loved it and we all had fun recognizing all the songs together and enjoyed it. I highly recommend getting the CD!!!! It's beautiful and I still listen to it to this day when I'm doing something and want some light music on.

Your engagement party pics were beautiful. I loved your cake! OF COURSE :)

Hi! I love that you are including Disney in your day. My DS and his wife were taking a DCL for their honeymoon, so she played a beautiful Disney medley instrumental while the guests were being seated and for the wedding party processional, then had Here Comes the Bride for her song. We bought the Mickey and Minnie bride and groom for their gift table:goodvibes

Thanks Angie!! I appreciate all the kind words :)

That's so cute that you had the music playing while everyone was eating! I think it's such a good idea. I will probably get the CD but if not, our DJ will just play the songs we tell him to.

Thanks again for the compliments :goodvibes

Awww, those are great ideas, to play the music while guests were being seated and to put Minnie and Mickey on the gift table :thumbsup2
