Getting ADRs- aka the Hunger Games

This is completely nuts.

Through the kindness of a dis-er, we just attempted to coordinate picking up a ressie for something I reaaaalllly wanted. It's been over 30 min and it's still not there, I have been checking like a maniac.

In the split second between his cancel and my search, it's gone. I can't believe it takes this long to spit back out into the system.

Well, somebody out there is very happy and celebrating some pixie dust.

I just wish it wasn't quite this insane.
 
It's hard to say. Sometimes I think certain cancellations aren't put back in the pool (for whatever reason, maybe previously overbooked).

I've given up or picked up a number over time with no issue. Others just never showed up at all.

You could try coordinating in the middle of the night when less people are online, but it's never been worth loss of sleep to me.

I hate that you missed it though.

I have also done well giving and receiving through the ADR thread-

It's still a while away, maybe something else will pop up- and if it doesn't, I know we will have an awesome trip regardless!
 
It can be frustrating for sure. I am 2-1 with giving and 0-1 receiving. The 2 failures were coordinated down to the minute. The one I wasn't able to pick up for myself was just a miss and someone else got the pixie dust. I saw the time pop up on the refresh after the OP cancelled but when I clicked on it to reserve I got Olaf instead so within seconds...gone.

Then the one I tried cancelling for someone else never showed up.
 

Wow, it's crazy to think how many people are in the system at any given moment! Oh well, it's still great to try to coordinate when we can, it's awesome when it works!
 
It can take up to an hour for the ADR to appear in the queue. (I'm not sure if that's a technical reason or a business one - IE you accidentally deleted a ADR and call customer service to try to get it back). I've tried swapping ADRs like this too but I've never been successful at it.
